I think we needed to have more in writing so it was very clear what the ask was and what could be done. Our verbal comms missed the mark. The end result although nice and worked ok, was not what I wanted. The balloon colors for my hot air balloon were off and I wanted 3D block letters but I got just 2D foam board cutouts with yard sticks attached. I asked for soft pastel Easter colors. I also described the colors as soft pink or yellow. I didn't realize when I hired her that the work would be outsourced. I incorrectly assumed one stop shop. I could've done that myself as I'd previously found other potential businesses. Within our correspondence, the pricing changed and I was thrown off by it because there was no heads up. The printing company she was using adjusted their prices. This is how I found out about outsourcing. Again, I incorrectly assumed printing was for the letter templates IOT trace and create the large 3D block letters. I know we discussed that I wanted large letter foam board cutouts like marquee that would stand on their own. I also provided inspiration pictures. The price that I paid was too expensive to not be what I believed ordered. I was very upset the day of my party and wished I would just taken off work to create the hot air balloon myself. I will note that I voiced my concerns about two days before to the party with the owner regarding the foam board order. She was very receptive and offered money back. I didn't speak to her again after that or reach out when the hot air balloon was put up. At that point, it just felt like we completely missed eachother in every convo and I didn't want to repeat the convo we already had two days prior. I definitely believe her team is talented but I wouldn't hire again.

My husband and I just got married last week at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. In…read morethe final month before the wedding, our original event rental company began bringing up some last-minute issues--things we had already agreed upon since the beginning of our contract. First, they suddenly said they didn't want to hang our paper lanterns. Then they changed their mind and said they would, but it would cost $30 per lantern--even though the lanterns themselves cost only about $2 each! I had done my homework and knew that other companies, including Platinum was quoting $2.50/lantern, so we were pretty shocked by the price. Second, just a week before the wedding, they informed us that they needed additional setup time, which would have forced us to pay an extra $1,400 to rent the venue for longer. At that point, I decided to shop around for other quotes. Our DJ recommended Platinum, and I was astonished to find that they were nearly $2,000 cheaper than our original event rental company--mainly because our caterer had been adding an extra 22% operational fee and 7.75% sales tax on top of the rentals. I worked directly with Sydney from Platinum, double-checked for any hidden fees, and she assured me there were none. So a quick tip for other couples: you may want to have your wedding coordinator work directly with the event rental company instead of going through the caterer, as the caterer may be adding unnecessary upcharges. We made the switch to Platinum the Tuesday before the wedding, and Sydney and her team did a phenomenal job. We were thoroughly impressed, especially given the last-minute change. Everything was on time, there were absolutely no issues, and the setup was so seamless that none of our guests even noticed the transitions. The courtyard looked absolutely stunning with the market lights and all 40 lanterns. Thank you so much to Sydney and the team for helping make our day so perfect. We didn't have to worry about a thing!

"Good Morning Antonia, Just wanted to apologize for the frustration this morning with your heater order, the last thing we want to do is be a headache with event rentals - I will briefly explain a couple of things while we refund your order. It's true that we do have a 100% cancellation policy in place for same-day orders, many places do, and that's simply because many of these are resource-heavy and yet we enjoy fulfilling last-minute needs where needed. Even though it takes a large number of resources and overhead to implement, we know offering same-day services are crucial to events at times. We stop warehouse production in any department necessary, we recall a driver to come gather the new order, and we re-route them back on the road, hopefully balancing other orders already on the schedule.....all in an effort accomodate events in this great city. Secondarily, and more importantly - this cancellation policy will be immediately looked at internally because we should have some flexibility with it. Preparing a rush order for heaters does not consume the same resources as preparing a new order for tents, tables, linen, or cooking equipment - I understand that, and Dorca was simply doing what is asked of her. But this situation brings a good point to mind - when/how/where should we implement some flexibility and can we communicate it better. We will learn.
