I regretted doing this within an hour of booking and putting down $99 after seeing their IG add for a dog photo shoot. But they said it was non refundable. I was given only times of 8:30am on work days and was told "we are quickly filling up!" yet still only offered 8:30am appts on any day which isn't ideal with my work, but I decided to figure it out. I had told her on the phone maybe our other dog could also come, but she may not be a good fit and I'd need my partner there if we had both dogs. But my partner works so I was unsure if she could make it. Two days prior to the appt I get a call with way more details of what the shoot was and she started telling me what to wear. I had no idea this was a shoot for humans as well. Working night shift, my plan was to go home and grab my dog and head to Folsom, but I now needed to be dressed and ready? I expressed disappointment and the fact that I didn't really want that. She told me it was better this way for the dogs comfort. The fact that I was so ill prepared for what this was and I was going to be alone with my dog for a photoshoot straight out of work, no thanks. I canceled but am frustrated that the lack of details and the slow progression of releasing details made the transition feel icky and scam-like. I just opted to lose the $99 figuring if this company is this desperate to operate from such a deceitful lens, they must be really hard up for cash with such a bait and switch approach. read more

We found Bokeh Creatives on Facebook and they did an awesome photo shoot with our 5 year cat snowball and our kids the art director Elhum who was so nice and sweet, showed us our photos and we fell in love. We were able to take advantage of a great promo from this studio. We took our young daughter for some portraits and the process from beginning to end was quite seamless and they made it very easy to do business with them. We applied for a pet/owner portrait project contest on Facebook. I wasn't sure it would work on my phone but it auto filled the information and submitted it before I had a chance to edit it or even put a description. All they got was my contact information... but they called, emailed and texted stating that we had been selected. They send a 2 minute long video that explains your "free session" and 14" $2000 value print requires a $249 deposit to book. They say it's refundable after you pick your print(s) but definitely feel blindsided. Seems like a marketing tactic to get people in and hopefully purchase more prints. read more

I walked in and was greeted right away by Natalie who was our photographer. We were there for portraits with our dog. We waited a long time for this little guy and wanted to capture this time with him. We haven't had our portrait taken but twice in 26 years of marriage, we needed some well done photos of us.Natalie explained everything clearly, made us feel very comfortable, and was fun to work with. Not impressed with the sketchy business practice of telling people that they "won" a photoshoot. Then they ask you to pay a hefty sum to "hold" your appointment. After all of that, they try to get you to buy very expensive photos and make you sign forms that you will not change your mind. They tell you that it is not really that expensive because you've already put the deposit down. I just don't think that the quality is really there to justify the high prices. Even non-retouched digital prints come with a crazy price. Please ask them to be transparent about pricing options before you go there for an appointment. read more

Nice pictures, but WAY OVER PRICED and TOO MANY RULES. Ended up paying $306 for 2 regular 11x14 pictures. $199 (sitting fee) for 1 and $107 for the other. Had to take pictures of wall or my appointment would be canceled. Pictures weren't used. Told not to weat patterns, but several pictures had them. Our experience with Bokeh Creatives was a pleasure. Right away I was greeted by Natalie who made sure our dogs could enter the facility with out feeling too overwhelmed by any humans or other dogs. Natalie was really sweet with our doggies and made them and us feel really welcomed and comfortable. We were a bit nervous for this shoot since we don't normally like taking photos but Natalie made us feel really relaxed and nothing felt forceful. I stumbled upon a sponsored Facebook ad for a free photoshoot with pets over the age of 7 years old, I thought what a wonderful experience to have with my 16 year old cat! I was happy to be selected, however a little discouraged when they asked for a $99 deposit fee for an hour long photoshoot (didn't seem really free at this point but I understand it's to hold the photographers time and they don't want flakes) well, when we got there it was very rushed and we got out of there in about 30 min. They sent me a text to schedule a follow up appointment, to which if you're late you need to pay an additional fee to reschedule so we came early and waited in their waiting room where we overheard a woman getting the most time share like speech. When it was our turn we got the same exact speech where they tell you about all of the different types of art pieces and finishes you can choose from. The most expensive thing is the first one they start off with and it's a "digitally hand painted portrait" that's "basically a modern day Davinci" which goes for 10k. And then they tell you about these other canvas options you can choose from and then ask which you were most drawn to. Whatever you say, they see dollar signs and will try to get you to buy a package. They brought us to a small back room and showed a power point projection of all the photos we took and had us choose our favorites, from there we chose the most favorite photo and they tried to upsell me again by showing me a 75 inch projection of "what it'd actually look like on the wall" and progressively got smaller to about 20 inches and I humored them by asked how much for the 20 inch. The girl started diverting the question and started talking about something else so I asked it again and she told me "there's over 65,000 different possibilities depending on the variables to your package" so she types a couple key strokes on the computer and pulls out a menu chart with prices from the 75 inch chances to the 20 inch and the 20 inch was $1250, I said no thank you that's way too much. She types a little more and offered me a much lower price of $750 which was still too much for what I ever would've expected. I refused the packages and only wanted my free photo. I saw the ad and recommended it to a friend and I regret doing so because her experience was a little different, she felt pressured into buying and wasn't able to talk it over with her partner alone so they ended up buying a 2k package because that's what they offered to her, even after she said she's a college kid that just sold her car! They don't care. I got my photo in the mail and it's a raw unaltered photo because any edits would've cost $$$ They told my friend it could be up to 16 weeks before she gets her portrait. Would I go here again? Probably not. Would I recommend after my own experience and hearing about my friend? Not a chance! It felt like a time share presentation that they kept trying to pull your heart strings and upsell. If you have $750 to literally thousands of dollars you want to drop on $300 quality photography photos/session then it might be for you. Thanks for the free photo. read more

Fantastic experience! Our dog is anxiety ridden, and stubborn- we were so nervous about bringing her in for a portrait session, but Natalie and her partner were so amazing with both our pup and us! Our pictures came out beautiful. Tim is super kind too. Everyone has such positive energy and it feels so comfortable. We weren't pressured into purchasing or doing anything outside of our comfort zone. We felt absolutely spoiled and treated so well by the staff here. They people prey on the emotions and the possibility of a loss and how you might feel if your loved one dies. You enter a $60. Program then they ram your feelings into talking and elderly person to finance $800. Shame on you. There are ways to push your product but this was morally wrong. Don't fall for any of their "promotions". It's really just a scam to get people to come into their studio. Once you book an appointment, you will find there are a lot of rules and an initial $200+ deposit. The deposit is refundable only if you attend 2 required appointments. If you miss any of it or are late, it's non-refundable. NOTHING IS ACTUALLY "FREE" OR A " PROMO DEAL". I signed up for a pet promo that supposedly came with 1 free print of your pet. Only to discover I needed a deposit w/ 2 appts. In the end, you basically get this PPT presentation of your session to pick out your photos and they want you to basically apply your deposit towards the cost of a portrait purchase which is NOT cheap. The deposit barely covers anything! Don't come here if you are expecting to save money or get a good deal. When I opted for the "free" small portrait as the promo originally stated, they agreed & said they would mail it. However, it's been like 3-4 months and no photo. I feel like they wasted my time because I didn't want to purchase their $2000+ portraits. Don't get me wrong, the staff is very friendly and professional, which is why I gave them 2 stars, but that's the extent of my rating because their ads/promos are deceiving. read more

Regarding the free photoshoot session. The 1-star reviewers are obviously having a tough time reading and following the rules. Back to grade school with you! This was an incredible opportunity and a wonderful business filled with kind and considerate employees. I would 1000% recommend this experience to anyone, or anyone desiring a professional portrait. I applied through Instagram with a little summary about my dog. There was then a follow-up phone call with one of their employees (a lady who I am unfortunately blanking on the name of) to understand the rules better and confirm that I was interested. She was really fun and easy to talk to and we hit it off right away. The call made me smile, feel happier with my day, and super excited about this opportunity. The wonderful mystery lady very clearly explained that there was a $249 reservation fee to hold the photoshoot spot that was 100% refundable. She took my payment over the phone and we set a date to come in. Natalie was my photographer. Photographing dogs is not easy and my dog is nervous around new people but she and her assistant (also Natalie:) ) did a great job making Lily feel comfortable, and we got some fantastic shots. I do not like having my picture taken, and was fully expecting to choose a shot of just Lily, but Natalie was able to capture me in a way I rarely ever get to see. Lastly, I had a zoom session with Tim, the owner, who was just as wonderful to talk to as everyone else so far. (Shoutout to Tims fantastically elaborate shirt). From the beginning, I was very clear that I had lost my job at the start of January and was not going to be able to afford additional photos. I never felt pressured to buy from Tim, or anyone, and they have a cool way of virtually showing you different sizes of the portraits in your own home, where you think you might hang the photo. Even though I was very clear I could not afford to spend any money, I always felt like I was an important client through the entire process and treated with the utmost respect and kindness. Again, 1-star people ---- this is not a scam, just be aware of, and follow, the rules you fools. My goodness. Once you complete the zoom session, the $249 is refunded within 24 hours (depending on your bank). Thank you Bokeh people for a truly awesome experience and for giving me the gift of capturing this moment in time. I know I will cherish it always. read more

My viewing appointment has to be rescheduled due to a family emergency with the art director but I was able to get a time that worked. Showed up a few minutes early and Elhum was running a couple minutes behind but made a point to let us know. She also offered an additional $500 credit on top of the $1000 credit for the contest and we ended up getting 2 digitals complementary. My brother and I had our photographs taken with my parents' dog as a Christmas gift to them. We were actually given a free photo shoot after I filled out an application on their instagram, so I really had no idea what to expect. I was worried the dog would be anxious and not stand still, that we wouldn't know how to pose and the photos would be awkward, etc. but the experience was actually so stress-free and enjoyable. Our photographer, Natalie, was wonderful made everyone feel so comfortable, even the dog. The shoot was pretty quick and I (and fun!), and we were quickly contacted to make an appointment to view the photos. They are SO CUTE. Our pup had his own little shoot which captured his personality perfectly, and the pictures turned out great. We also did a series of pictures with the three of us. I hate how I look in pictures, so I didn't expect to like them at all. They were adorable. There were tiny things I didn't like (awkward skin pulling, bra strap showing, etc.) but I was assured that could be easily fixed in editing for any prints. I just had my family portraits done with Tim and all I can say is it came out Amazing!! My wife is really particular when it comes to her pictures and even she was impressed with the pictures of our family. My 4 year old son Chase can be pretty shy with the camera sometimes, but Tim totally made him feel comfortable and got him smiling and laughing right away. Tim is also just a great person to talk to and get to know. He made the whole photo process easy and comfortable. I was really impressed with his knowledge of photography and how he approaches the shots and capturing the special moments of the occasion.
