I work near the Distillery and my coworkers and I always try to do a Summerlicious lunch each year. This year, BOKU Noodle Bar was added to the list, so we were happy to try it out, as we all love ramen. The food: We got the Izakaya starter which gave us a good variety of dumplings, takoyaki and seaweed salad. I chose the miso ramen to give their broth and chasu a try. My bowl of ramen was served to me with a hair in it. I pointed that out to the server, who took the bowl away to the bar, where a group of them hovered over the bowl, and came back to say, "Here you go. We took it out." By that time, we were already at the 50-minute mark of a typical work lunch, so I didn't push, but I was surprised at the lack of an apology at the very least. The broth was extremely salty, and the ramen wasn't outstanding. It took a longer time for dessert to serve, all the while, we were in sight of the back kitchen and saw the strawberries for dessert being cut up directly out of the box, not rinsed at all. I chose the matcha cheesecake, which was really just regular New York style cheesecake with matcha powder sprinkled on top. The cheesecake had a soggy graham cracker bottom, which leads me to suspect whether it was frozen cheesecake defrosted upon serving. Overall - Slow service, subpar food, and no apologies or customer appreciation shown when they are in the error. There are better choices in the Distillery in terms of food and service, so eat elsewhere. read more

This place is a joke. Do not eat here, especially if you have ever eaten any Asian food whatsoever. Had the Poke, which was made with rice, teriyaki sauce (VH if I had to guess), a few cucumber slices and a very small amount of fish, and half an avocado. I've lots of Poke across the country, and sorry to say this was by far the absolute worst. My partner had some Ramen. (We live right next door to arguably the best Ramen place in the city (Ryus) so this was an unfair comparison.) If you're in the area, and you are starving, do not eat here. Avoid this place. I would have given 0 stars but 1 star is the minimum. And I just noticed that since this is actually the first bad review I've ever written. read more

We were very disappointed with this restaurant. We waited for over 40 minutes for our meal and when it came the ramen was lukewarm. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant and still we had a very long wait. Food was not impressive and very flavours were meh. Takoyaki was good. read more

Spending an afternoon with the family in the Distillery District and happened upon Boku. What a find. The service was as fantastic and the food was over the top. We were told in advance that the kitchen was behind which is fantastic as you can decide if you'd like to spend the time or not. In the end the timing was not off as much as they had indicated which made the service feel like it was quicker than expected (the tactic was well played and appreciated). We had the Miso Ramen *2 and the Beef Udon*2 both dishes exploding with flavours, both dishes completely different from the other. Both excellent choices for your first time. Great food, great service. Why wouldn't we come back. read more

Apparently just opened, sort of...more like rebranding change from sushi to noodles...normally not how I like to roll into a restaurant....I prefer places that have already worked out their kinks...well, sometimes I'm wrong...and Boku is where I went wrong...between the most comfortable bar stools on this planet and my cups of house sake (get the cold, it's pear bites are perfect on a hot summer day) is a glorious plate of Takoyaki and a steaming bowl of mushroom ramen....whatever this place feels they need to work out with the menu I hope they keep both these items! read more

Perhaps the only reasonably priced restaurant offering actually delicious food on the distillery! Even though we live nearby I rarely eat in the distillery because the restaurants are either good but obscenely over priced for tourists or bad (but still obscenely overpriced) - Boku is a total hidden gem! We went in on a business Tuesday evening in the middle of the Christmas market, no reservation - we waited less than 5 minutes for two seats at the bar. The hostess offered us a table as soon as it freed up (in less than 15 minutes) but we chose to stay at the bar to eat. Great atmosphere inside - cozy, exposed brick, casual yet still upscale. Was happy to see multiple vegan options on the menu. The service was what you want - attentive but not overbearing. Food came out fast and piping hot. We got two ramens - one mushroom and one miso pork. Both were absolutely delicious! Massive portions - we both took takeaways for lunch the next day. 16$ each which is pretty standard for Toronto especially given it was two meals worth of food in an upscale atmosphere. Wine for 10$ a glass which is also reasonable for downtown. Overall, would highly recommend if you're a torontonian visiting distillery and don't want to overpay for mediocre food. The chicken ramen had a flavourful broth, tender chicken breast that was a little more bland than I expected for a "chashu" (means barbecued Chinese style, this tasted more like it had been sous-vide), but what I detract stars for is the soft, almost mushy texture of their ramen noodles. I like my ramen noodles with some spring for a better mouthfeel - for a $17 bowl of ramen I expected the noodles to be the star of the show, not the afterthought. read more

The space, service and staff are nice enough but unfortunately the food is overpriced while servings are small and flavour is below average for the price range. We were a party of 2 and ordered Miso Ramen, the Spicy Tuna Poke and Unagi Donburi. Servings for each were so small that we left still slightly hungry but decided to eat elsewhere after. The Poke was especially disappointing, not only was it not spicy but it had no flavour at all. Definitely disappointing considering the price. Unfortunately would not recommend for meals, perhaps appetizers and cocktails are more their forte... read more

We are Japanese looked for cozy bar. This is extremely perfect outside bar. Very good Japanese food with friendly service :) For me craft beers are also good match with snacks. In addition, As the children of other customers rubbed nearby, the staff at this store brought in a first aid kit for treatment. Really sweet! read more

I went here during the Toronto Christmas Market 2018. It was in a word "fantastic" especially through the cold the ramen was wonderful. The menu is simple and while picky eaters might have a challenge finding something anyone else will love it. The only downside besides the short menu is it is a little bit pricy for ramen but I think well worth it once in a while because it is really really good. The service is also pretty quick read more

Came here for lunch on a weekend. Service was terrible. I was 15 mins late to my reservation and when I got there I was informed that my table had been given away. The waiter lectured me for arriving late and that I should have called. He told me there are no other tables available, even though the restaurant looked empty. After waiting for some time (restaurant was still empty), they finally seat us at a table. I went with a friend and got sangria, chicken ramen, and goyza. They started a new menu today so I hoped it would be better than past reviews, but not so much. I have a severe fish allergy and they were VERY GOOD about checking with the chef. The problem was that even innocuous things like beef stir fry had fish in it and their menu is so small that I didn't have many options and ended up having ramen. Which was sad because I specifically came for the stir fry, but that's my fault since I guess I should have called ahead. Chef wasn't willing to sub something in on stir fry since he didn't want to mess with the new menu which kind of sucked. Especially since it's not like they have anything on their menu to indicate that all that stuff has fish so people like me would have known not to come in the first place. However, the ramen was very bland. Due to my allergy I had to have the mushroom broth because even the chicken and pork broths have fish in them. It didn't taste salty, but didn't really taste like anything. It was super unseasoned. The gyoza and sangria were good, but not any better than anywhere else. Certainly not at that price. The service was stellar but the food was super meh, not worth it for a $40 meal after tax and tip. Would not go back, sadly. read more

We enjoyed a quick meal before seeing a play tonight. The service was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed the Mushroom Ramen and my husband liked the Chicken Ramen. The acoustics are not good so be prepared for the noise. I would definitely return. Good value and tasty food. read more

We were visiting Toronto and noticed Boku was close to our hotel. Thought we'd try it, as we love ramen, after spending three months in Japan a few years ago. The ramen was excellent, and we also had gyosa, which was the best I have ever tasted. Light and lively. read more

Went in on a Tuesday for lunch and ordered from their Summerlicious menu. They were clearly understaffed for how busy it was. It took almost 20 minutes before we received our appetizer, which was quite good, but after waiting another 45 minutes, we called over our waiter and they'd completely forgotten our order. We ended up leaving without getting our food, after apologies from the waiter. read more
