Hashi Izakaya is an incredible restaurant. The ambiance is very nice. Their cartilage karaage is a must try.

A great cozy spot for late night drinks and eats! Swung by here around 9-10pm with a group of 8 and was seated immediately. They had a lot of open tables. It's a Japanese izakaya/ bar so food and drinks are pretty standard here. We got the takowasabi, tuna tartar, fries (can't go wrong with these), pork jowl, all to share with the table. Great nibbling items while having a few drinks with friends. You can get full bottles of soju here, pitchers of beer or cocktails. I opted for the yuzu slushy which tasted so good and sweet, just the way I liked it. Can't really taste the alcohol at al. It's quite dark inside so make sure to ask for a table lamp. We noticed that other tables had one but ours didn't, and the lamp really made a difference in being able to see the food, drinks and one another. Come for some late night drinks or snacks if you're in the area. A great option.

A great place to go with friends! The vibes of this izakaya is also really nice, and good service! I've tried a couple things from their menu (as seen in the pictures). My favourites have to be the yaki mentaiko, yukke, and bulgogi tacos. I like the combination of the different ingredients in the yaki mentaiko dish. Yukke is the beef tartare - it is so delicious, the sweet Asian pear and beef combination is a must try! The bulgogi tacos tasted so fresh and the portions are pretty big.

I went their with my friend for a little birthday dinner on a Friday night (October 20th, 2023). The experience was mediocre to "I won't be going back". NOTE: I have been to several Izakayas in Toronto and can therfore compare some dishes. SERVICE: It was a busy night and it seemed the waitresses were understaffed so waiting time was pretty long. FOOD: I had a salmon sushi roll, a tiny piece of pork belly and a tiny piece of grilled or seared black cod. The pork should have been softer. It should melt on your tongue but it didn't. I needed to take one chop stick into each hand and pick the piece apart. The salmon roll was way too big. It didn't fit in my mouth so I tried to bite it in half and that caused a disaster. That thing fell apart of course. Everyone who has tried to do this knows what I mean. The black cod was tender but oh lord that tiny piece had many bones in it! It felt as if it had more bones than the entire fish. That thing cost $18 and I was constantly pulling bones out of my mouth (see picture). That is not supposed to be like that. Best thing comes last. When I told the waitress about the bones and that the fish wasn't enjoyable she just said okay, smiled and took off. That was a first time experience for me but because it's Toronto nothing really surprises me here anymore. Expensive low quality food wherever you go. RESULT: The prices were fairly high considering it's not a luxurious restaurant and the food is not even that great (some dishes are okay though). Mediocre food, lame service, high prices. This is not a good combination and I won't go back. Cheers

There's a special that if you order a pitcher of beer, customer can get a certain item of food 50% off. So I ordered a pitcher of Asahi and a karage and a pork belly to share with three others. The pitcher of beer came first with a glass of snacks. The karage was amazing. They were cut in bite size. I especially liked the sauce that came with the karage because it consisted of a Yuzu flavour. There were plenty of chicken karage pieces in an order. I was able to get 50% for this karage because I had ordered a pitcher of beer. I also ordered a pork belly. It looked so elegant and was garnished with a leaf on top. It was seated in mashed potatoes and the sauce. It tasted sweet. Not the usual taste I used to have. The pork belly had layers of fats and meat and it was not too fat or greasy. It was cooked nicely and it was presented elegantly.

My first patio experience this year was at Hashi! I love how they take reservations so we don't need to stand around waiting for a table on a Friday night. I went as a small party of 3 at prime dinner time and we got a nice table outside. The waitresses were attentive and the food was great! The only bummer was the limit their sake flight to one flight per table. We were hoping to order a flight each so we get to sample their flavoured sake since they're the size of a shot only. We ended up ordering one flight and had to take a sip and rotate the flavours. We did ended up other drinks since one flight isn't enough for 3 people on a Friday night!

don't now what's so special about hashi besides that typicak izakaya hangout spot with loud music and dim lighting. Would pass on the food, the tartare is average and the roe is not fresh. Not pictured, the Oden soup is also average and you could make it better with a frozen h mart pack

I came here for dinner tonight and it did not disappoint. When you walk in you automatically feel very welcomed by the servers who greet you right away. Service here was great, as the server was attentive and you could tell she was genuinely open to helping customers. In addition to their regular menu, they have a combo menu of about five items which are included with side dishes, miso soup and salad. I got the Hashi don, which was a chirashi bowl (diced sashimi on rice). Everything was really nicely presented and tasted fresh. The salad had a citrusy taste and the miso soup was flavourful. It's the perfect amount to fill you up. My table also ordered a plate of volcano rolls to share. Though it was pricey ($17 for 8 rolls), it was made with high quality and I was really impressed with it. The rest of the menu items are your typical offerings most izakaya restaurants offer. It is pretty dimly lit here, but I didn't mind that at all as it was spacious and a nice set up with booths and benches. Since this place is located right at Yonge and finch, parking is easy to find as there is a parking lot 2 minutes walking distance away with plenty of spaces. Whether you're coming here for a night out or an evening dinner, this place is great and caters to both. Expect the food to be a bit more pricey here but in my opinion you get what you pay for, which is a higher quality of food.

Food was ok. Ordered the dinner set meal which came with miso soup, salad, and two sides. The miso soup was good, and the two sides were interesting. I think one of them was mixed fermented root vegetables and the other was a slice of beet that had been marinated in something and was packed full of flavour. The unagi was pretty good as was the beef don. The karage chicken was bad. Not crispy at all. For large groups it is automatic 15% gratuity after tax which makes sense. But it wasn't ideal that they could not do separate bills. They said at most they could split the bill into 4 - meaning only 4 payments. We ended up just paying the whole amount on one credit card and will each have to emt or pay back that one person. Not the most convenient, and not worth the fuss considering all the other good food options in the area.

Always have great experience at this Izakaya. I usually come to this place to grab drinks with friends but it was nice to have dinner here as well! I ordered 32pcs in their maki set menu, and it was more than enough for 3 people!! Overall service is awesome, you feel very welcomed when you walk in. Throughout the night, our cups were always filled with water and they were very quick with serving food. Of course there are better sushi restaurants, but as Izakaya, food wasn't bad. It was a great atmosphere to grab food, drinks and social with friends.

Location is excellent at Finch and Yonge. Foodwise, it's about average. Price is definitely more expensive than I think it should be. I spent about $42, taxes and tips included. The service is average.

We already had dinner but felt like some Izakaya so we dropped by this place for a quick snack. We went on a Tuesday night so it wasn't crowded at all. We ordered the following dishes: - salmon tataki - spicy tuna roll - BBQ beef - chicken karaage Nothing really stood out except the BBQ beef. It was super tender, very well seasoned and had a smokey taste to it which was very nice. We would go back just that dish alone. The chicken karaage could use some work though. It looked crispy but it wasn't crispy at all. I guess they didn't do the double fry trick or something. Might come back in the future on an empty stomach to try out other dishes.

The first to arrive was the Spicy Sashimi Salad. This had diced sashimi and greens with a sweet-chili dressing. While I found the greens to be very fresh in this salad, I didn't think that it was overall that spectacular. But then again, it's really just sashimi salad so unless there was something really extra about it, it was mediocre. The Salmon Natto arrived with seaweed on the side. It came with diced cucumber and a quail egg yolk. This Salmon Natto was a smaller in size in comparison to others I've had in the past but was more flavourful (not as bland). I remember that there was nothing too special about it either. The Salmon Hako Sushi from the Teishoku Meal Set was a torched salmon box-sushi. The set arrived on a tray with miso soup, salad, rice, and two side dishes. I was really impressed with this Salmon Hako Sushi! It was pressed sushi which meant it was "box-shaped" and was really delicious! There was something about it that was so tasty, soft, and done really well. This was the best dish of the night. Although I didn't initially have a good meal overall, I think that Hashi Izakaya has some really good menu items. After going there, I realized that I should have tried their "Creamy Pork Belly" dish as I heard that one was really good. I don't think I'll return any time soon though because I thought their prices were a little high and there are just so many restaurants in the neighbourhood of Yonge and Finch that I would want to try something else next time.

There's no reservation system but they do have a waitlist on Yelp which gets you in line (highly recommended). First to know is you can't pay with credit card here--there's an ATM in the front of the restaurant. As far as the restaurant goes, it was fantastic from start to finish. Our table of 4 was seated and serviced by 1 main staff member, Lydia, who talked us through the whole menu and ordering system, recommended some great starts and then kept us frequently updated all throughout dinner. She checked up on us along with her assistants who were also bringing items and servicing the table. The food quality was excellent with juicy and flavorful cuts of beef along with the shrimp, pork, veggies, side dishes/ponchon, and rice--it kept coming consistently. Grill changes were frequent as well. The atmosphere is lively and there are a lot of servers so you aren't trying get someone's attention all the time. But it doesn't feel too cramped at the same time. As it is AYCE, everyone in our group left full of course and enjoyed each course. I liked the almond tofu at the end! ----TL;DR---- Pros: great selection of meats, quality was top notch, huge portions of course as it is AYCE, service was prompt and all staff were really friendly. Cons: no reservations so need to be on a waitlist. The no credit card system is a bit of an inconvenience. Bottom Line: we loved it--definitely would go back again and enjoy more of their selections! You have to try them if you like meat and AYCE!

We walked into a lively, casual space that works especially well for groups, celebrations, or any meal where you want to take your time and enjoy the experience. The energy in the room is high, with the sound of grilling and conversation filling the space, and the table setup encourages a longer, more relaxed pace than a typical restaurant meal. The biggest highlight is the meat selection. The quality is consistently strong, with different cuts and marinades that give each plate its own flavor. The miso steak is one of the standout items, with a really good balance of savory, slightly sweet, and rich flavors. The marinated meats are where Gyubee really shines, coming seasoned well and developing a great char from grilling at the table. We worked through a range of options including kalbi, hanger steak, and sausage, mixing and matching as we went. The fun part is being able to control the cooking yourself, whether you prefer a lighter sear or a deeper grilled flavor, and the grill setup makes it easy to cook at your own pace. The sides and extras are also better than what we usually expect from an all you can eat BBQ spot. The sushi was surprisingly enjoyable, with smaller portions that made it easy to try different rolls without filling up too quickly. The bibimbap is another good addition, especially when paired with the grilled meats. Takoyaki and other sides helped break up the meal and added variety beyond just ordering meat after meat. The spread is broad enough that you can build a well rounded meal without feeling like you are stuck in a single category. Service was a strong part of the experience. Even with the restaurant being busy, the staff were attentive and checked in regularly to make sure we had what we needed. They kept the table moving, helped with ordering, and made the process feel smooth despite the constant flow of guests. The wait can be the biggest challenge, especially during dinner hours, but the service once seated helped make up for it. The staff also handled the high turnover of tables well, keeping the pace steady without making us feel rushed. Gyubee is one of those places where the experience is just as important as the food. The combination of grilling at the table, quality meats, good sides, and a fun group atmosphere makes it a great choice for a longer meal with friends or family. It is worth planning ahead for the wait because the meal itself delivers the kind of relaxed, interactive dining experience that makes you want to come back. The format encourages you to slow down, cook at your own pace, and enjoy the meal as a shared activity rather than just a quick dinner.

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients).
