    Bolani with spinach
    Jay P.

AFGHAN STUFFED-FLATBREAD. These are handmade and stuffed with fillings like pumpkin and spinach which are harder to find than the potato used at most local afghanistan restaurants. It's family owned and has a distinct homemade taste and appealing imperfect appearance which makes it feel personal and small-batch. Bolani.co is at many local bay area Farmers Markets and sell Bolanis and dips/sauces which pair well with them and are also great eaten with tortilla/pita chips. Spinach Bolani, very easy to heat up in the oven. Organic and tasty, did not make me miss meat and the kids loved it as well. The seasoning was good and permeated the spinach and flatbread. Artichoke Hummus, creamy with large chunks of artichoke. Loved dipping this with tortilla chips the crunchy saltiness of them going well with the hummus. A healthier version of spinach-artichoke dip popular as restaurant appetizers.

Bolani has been my greatest discovery of quarantine HANDS DOWN!!! I came across their stand at the Saratoga farmer's market and decided to give it a try after a friend had recommended them and it really did not disappoint!!! I usually heat it in the toaster oven to get it nice and crispy and it's perfect at any time of the day! I also tried their cilantro pesto which paired perfectly with the bolani and gave it a nice kick. My go to bolanis are the spinach, spicy potato, and lentil! I do really want to try the pumpkin one that they recently released. A pro tip that they recommended was cutting up the spinach bolani and cooking it in with scrambled eggs (see pic below) for brunch, and it was SO GOOD!!! Highly recommend trying this special dish! PS. they deliver now!!!

My favorite flavors so far: pumpkin, spinach I've bought this brand at Costco and Safeway but my favorite place to buy Bolani Company's bolani is from the farmers' market. They offer more flavors at the FM. Along with the bolani, also got the yogurt sauce, the cilantro pesto and the sweet jalapeno jam. After toasting the bolani, cut into strips or wedges. Slather with yogurt and top with cilantro. Then drizzle generously with jalapeno. Yum. The jalapeno jam is sweet, not spicy at all so for a little heat, I sometimes add sriracha or hot sauce.

Spicy Potato flatbread and Garlic Mint Yogurt sauce

Came across Bolani's stand at a Sunday morning farmer's market in Oakland. I picked up the Spicy Potato flatbread and Garlic Mint Yogurt sauce on the recommendation from the Bolani team member - she said those flavors are their best sellers. The Garlic Mint Yogurt is heavenly!! So refreshing and flavorful. I've tried it with pretzels, carrots, and on top of the flatbread - all delicious. The potatoes in the flatbread had a nice little kick. I microwaved the flatbread and it was tasty, but wasn't as crispy as I'd like. I'll try heating my second one up in the oven to maximize crispness! Can't wait to try out more of their sauces and flatbread flavors.

Was walking to a restaurant for lunch when we bumped into the California Avenue Farmers' Market in Palo Alto. I've had some of this flatbread and dip before when they had their stand at other farmer's markets, but it's been a while. I saw the samples and dragged my significant other over to try some. The guy manning the stall was very nice and friendly. We ended up purchasing three bags of flatbread and four dips. The flatbread and dips were all fresh and delicious.

Came across the Bolani stand at the Dublin Farmer's Market. The guy manning the stand was super friendly and enthusiastic and kept offering me samples. Everything was delicious and sounded very healthy too. I ended up getting the Pumpkin-filled Flatbread, Artichoke Hummus, Lentil Curry, Eggplant Pesto and Pumpkin Sauce. Knocked off one star for the expensive prices. Though everything is absolutely amazing, $7 a pop is a bit steep. The nice guy did give me a discount though, 5 items for the price of 4 which sweetened the deal a bit.

Bolani is a family business where they've created a unique fusion of exotic East and West flavors. Their mission is to "provide only the finest quality products with continued commitment to using only fresh, healthy, and absolutely delicious, natural ingredients.." Their products are sold at Farmers Markets and some local markets' sampled some of their product at my local Wholefoods Store. I instantly feel in love. I tried the spinach bolani and pumpkin bolani. They have many more but those are what I tried. On top of those you can add their sauces as a spread. I sampled and purchased the Basil Pesto, Eggplant Pesto, Sweet Jalapeno, Garlic Mint Cheese. Not only can you use them in a spread but as a dip or to include in preparing some of your favorite dishes. I believe the sauces are $5 and the bolani's a dollar or two more or less than the sauces. They also sell breads, entree's and coming soon, teas. Toll Free: (877) 687.0817 info@bolaniandsauce.com twitter: @bolaniandsauce

Awesome! Mona is quite the salesperson but the sauces and breads are even more impressive! I'm definitely going back for more.

They are constantly reaching in front of you and taking the products you are trying to look at or buy. It honestly makes me feel like I'm walking into an Amazon fulfillment warehouse rather than a Whole Foods grocery store. Instead of feeling relaxed and enjoying the shopping experience, I often feel like I'm competing with people who are rushing around trying to grab items for online orders. I really think Whole Foods should consider having a separate area in the back for employees who are picking and packing delivery and online orders, rather than having them do it alongside regular customers. The store should feel like a place where customers can comfortably shop, not like a warehouse where everyone is rushing to grab products. I hope Whole Foods will take this feedback seriously and find a better way to balance online fulfillment with the in-store shopping experience.
