Now, being the Yelp Community Manager, I've seen their beautiful looking drinks from the Macomb location come through my social and Yelp feeds and I had always wanted to try it. So, after I hit my last shop I popped in for a lil' treat. Inside is SO cute. All pink and decked out with delightful little instagrammable pockets and decor. They have several base tea flavors to choose from, from milk tea to juices, and a few coffee based options as well. I'm a bit of a creature of habit when it comes to my boba so I ordered my usual, a brown sugar milk tea, but of course I had to "Bear it up!" Bear it up is the money shot here if you're looking for a good pic. Luckily, it also tastes great, too! It includes a healthy amount of whipped cream on top, sprinkles, Pocky sticks and the cutest little bear. Now, when I saw their teas online in the past I wasn't sure what that little bear was. Was it gummy? A cookie? Was it even edible? The answers? No. No. Yes. After taking the appropriate number of photos i touched the bear to see what it was and it was so perfectly clever I couldn't believe I hadn't considered it. IT'S ICE!! More specifically, i believe it's ice with some sort of milk in it because the coloring has more of a milky look to it, not translucent like plain water. As I waited for my drink I chatted with who I think might have been the owner, or at least a manager, and he was VERY nice and thanked me for coming in. No thanks needed, my dude! It was seriously all my pleasure. And I look forward to doing it again soon!

For the instagram crowd, they try to liven their drinks up by adding a giant, but cute, gummy bear on top (for additional cost of course!). Otherwise, this is a pretty standard first wave boba shop, focusing mainly on flavorings and aesthetics. Signature Brown Sugar Boba, 50% Sweet, Extra Tea/Less Milk ($5.95) - This drink comes with brown sugar boba, a brown sugar swirl lining the sides of the cup, milk and black tea. We asked for more tea and less milk. We found half sugar to be pretty much on the dot - not too sweet and just sweet enough to not overpower the tea. There's a bit of an astringency and fragrance from the black tea but overall there isn't too much going on. The brown sugar flavor comes out very well and I guess there really wasn't too much milk added as I couldn't taste any of the dairy flavors (which is what we asked for in the first place). The boba here is very soft. It's not to the point of becoming mush and congealing into a large mass, but is approaching that state and doesn't really have any discernible chew. There are shreds of boba pieces that have flaked off due to the softness. Usually softer boba can be saved a bit by icing the pearls and sitting on them a bit, but in this case the boba is a little far too gone. We got standard ice, but they don't add very much and all of it pretty much melted immediately. (3/5) Milk Tea Rating: 3/5 Boba Rating: 2/5 Boba Bare Craft Tea is the only boba shop in the area. The suite had a bright orange awning and about ten tables of various sizes for seating. Several power outlets were available along one wall for students to plug in their electronics and hang out because this business was across from a large college campus. Two self-service kiosks were at the counter where you could place an order. A menu board was hanging on the wall to the left for quick reference. Just drinks were served here as no food was offered. The categories were milk tea, fruit tea, slush, chocolate, yakult, macchiato, fresh milk, and tea. Six recommended choices with photos were listed at the top of the board. I selected the second one which was the Tropical Special. This drink was from the fruit tea category which was likely where I would have made a selection anyway. Passionfruit green tea with pearls and coconut jelly were the ingredients. I requested light ice and normal sweetness. The tea flavor wasn't strong, and the pearls were chewy and clumped together on the bottom of the cup. The jelly was extra filler that added more texture. The price was at least two dollars less than what I would have paid for a similar product at one of my local haunts. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my experience at CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice.
