    Lavender lemon ice cream

Such a great location for a blank slate, as it is conveniently located in downtown Brighton. The ice cream here is to die for- I ordered the lavender lemon flavor and it is superb! The girls at the front were incredibly friendly and sociable, and there were plenty of tables and chairs to sit at inside and outside. Will go back next time I'm in the area!

I was so excited that this place was open during the winter. Good move! We came here after dinner on the coldest January evening and the place was packed. I wanted to try their snowball ice cream, inspired by the hostess snowball and I also had chocolate cherry covered in a semi-sweet fudge topping in their waffle cone bowl. It was so good. They let me know they just won at an ice cream convention for their fluffer nutter flavor which my husband got this time. It is so good, I have had that one several times. They also sold hot cocoa either plain or with toppings, wish the kids were here for that. I hope they continue to stay open during the winter months because the craving for ice cream does not go away even during subzero temperatures.

TRULY AMAZING!!! Came here after dinner in downtown Brighton on a Tuesday evening. Everyone so cheerful and welcoming. They were SO busy but that didn't slow down or deplete the quality of their service. We got to taste the ice cream before committing. I greatly appreciate highlighting gluten free and non-diary options on the menu. I highly encourage the loaded banana. One scoop is plenty! Can't wait to go back!!

While staying in Brighton, MI I found this great little ice cream place in downtown. Sadly, I found it on our last night and didn't get to visit there more. Right in downtown in an old storefront, the place has been converted to a modern yet cozy vibe with an easy to find queue and a few places to sit to enjoy your chosen treat. This place offers some flavors and twists that you didn't know you needed. Balsamic Strawberry, Basil (served with lemon olive oil) Lemon Lavender, Bourbon Ball and the list goes on. The friendly staff offered me samples which I gladly took as I could not choose without them. I was getting a quick to-go cup (I went with the Basil) otherwise I would have gotten their 4 flavor flight option in order to try as many as possible. And yes, I would have forced myself to eat four scoops because it was that good. Creamy, smooth, and full of deliciousness. They have 2 other locations in the region so definitely check them out if you are in the Ann Arbor area.

When it comes to ice cream, I defer to my grandchildren, who are the most discerning customers when it comes to this treat. All three of them gave it an enthusiastic two thumbs up. That's good enough for me. Five stars in my book.

This place is sooo good! I went 2 days in a row the last time I was in Brighton. They have such unique, delicious flavors. Everyone that worked here was super nice and helpful. My bf doesn't really like sweets, so the fresh basil ice cream with lemon olive oil drizzle was perfect for him. I am obsessed with the loaded banana ice cream.

Wonderful employees, they were all friendly and very helpful. Flavor selection was great. I enjoy a place that has a lot of options without chocolate, pb, and caramel. Don't worry they have plenty with for extra sweet lovers. Lavender honey is a new favorite. Yours is best I've tasted yet.

I stopped in on a Friday evening. The shop is small but has additional outdoor seating. They had many traditional flavors that were delicious but my favorite was the basil and lemon olive oil! An unexpected delight!! I recommend sharing the flight so that you may try 4 flavors!

This ice cream shop has a lot of unique flavors and I love the option to do a flight so that you can enjoy a couple different flavors. The bourbon turtle was probably the best but I also liked the lavender lemon and vanilla Carmel blondie a lot. The shop is cute and clean and the service was quick & patient while we looked at all of the options.

They have designed this place to be pandemic-friendly! From order to pickup, the only thing you have to touch is your ice cream! I've been a long-time customer of the original Blank Slate, so I had to try the Brighton location as we were driving by today. The two gals were incredibly sweet and patient as I conducted an excessively detailed read through the menu and picked out pints (yes, you can order pints) to take home. We picked out our absolute favorites; Chai, Lavender Lemon Honey, and Garden Mint. Then I wanted to try something new. Blank Slate has flavors that are there for a short period of time and its fun to try them while they last! So, I tried Apple Cinnamon Crisp, which really let me down! I was expecting the taste of roasted apples and gooey cinnamon with crunchy oats, but I didn't taste any apple. There was a little cinnamon in the clumps, but the ice cream it was in was basically a really, really rich vanilla. Blank Slate -- you can do much better! Perhaps that's an ice cream for people who don't like flavor, but I've come to know Blank Slate for it's bold and nostalgic flavors! Now, their Lavender transports you to the foothills of the Alps. The Mint makes you feel like it's the middle of a Michigan Summer in one of the St.John mint fields! The Chia makes you want to curl up next to a fireside with your favorite book. My advise, pass on the Apple Cinnamon Crisp -- there are much better flavors!

Thankful that they label their menu with allergens. Depends on the day, but usually some really good dairy free options!

Their pastries are reasonably priced and they always have deals of the day although the discounts are negligible - eg something normally $4.89 might be on sale for $4.29 or so. I haven't found the service to be particularly friendly either which seems unusual for a longstanding mom-and-pop with loyal customers who have been coming for decades (I'm the third Marv's generation in my family). I do think it's sweet how they offer free coffee with any bakery purchase. It's by no means gourmet but it's a nice touch. They also sell some miscellany like cheeses, pickled goods, meats, etc. About half the physical space is all baked goods and the second half is the rest. I can't imagine anyone doing significant shopping here but if you needed an item conveniently you can get it here.
