I am a pickle lover and have tried most pickle foods...this one was AMAZING. I'll also add that despite it just being a grab and go counter, even in those instances you can have bad service. Needless to say, this was our first stop before the Festival of Lights Parade started. There have been some changes made to the interior since our last visit (another cooler for drinks and misc goodies and a couple shelves of specialty cookies, etc). M Street Baking does offer many delicious treats and tonight we were told of a "secret menu item" - a pita / pasta served in a cup. Pita / Pasts offerings include: Mac & Cheese; Alfredo; and Marinara. Good stuff!!!

All their cake and frosting flavors are thoughtfully curated. Some of them that are not the standard ones are switched out every month, including one new vegan flavor. During the month I was there, it was lavender which I was skeptical of but it was actually delicious! They have cute mini sized versions of I think most of their cupcakes too, which is so great! I heard their banana pudding is amazing and is a best-seller. Can't believe even their ice creams are so delicious! The vibe inside sitting down is cute and perfect to enjoy a sweet treat or chill, like any other cafe. Even the customers who come in know their stuff is so good and I noticed the store draws in quite a "sweet" intersection of people. I think I actually witnessed the customer interaction right below this but imo I thought they were being kind of unfair and entitled, so this seems like an anomaly, because the desserts are truly wonderful as I saw other customers also found. The girl who worked the shift when I used to go in -- I had gotten her name but have forgotten it now -- was so sweet and good at her job! If you have allergies or restrictions, like gluten or dairy free, this bakery is very accommodating and a must-try; but even otherwise this bakery is worth going out of your way to try!

The email as copied and pasted directly from correspondence with Sally doesn't say, "OR" and when I talked to Sally I thought you got both as well. I was never told I had to choose between the two options. Wish I had known that. I was very disappointed the day of the party when there wasn't a cart there. I had pictured my daughter, her father and I riding it together. I was also told that my event coordinator for the day would contact me the week prior to the party to go over the details. 3 days before the party I emailed asking for verification of my party and got a generic invoice emailed to me and a party check list. Telling me to call my coordinator. Which seemed a little odd to me. When I did get a hold of Margie we went over a few things, and I said how I had asked for a 4:00 time slot and was pretty much forced into 4:30 because they had a previous party in Grosse Pointe Woods and they weren't sure they would make it to Shelby in time. So I agreed. However it was never noted in my file I had wanted the previous time slot, and come to find out that party had been canceled and they were doing a party in Rochester. Margie was kind enough to bump up my start time to the time we originally asked for. Come the party day I was a little frazzled about no cart, then to top it off no one came to get my husband or I when they did the first ride of the day with our daughter on it. So I pretty much missed her riding the pony and walked in at the end. I thought that was very unprofessional and that one of the staff members should have come to tell us they were starting. I would have rather wasted 10 minutes of our paid time than to miss her reaction and her getting up there. It's one of those moments I had envisioned and wont get back. There was also no food for the children to feed the animals as stated in the email and copied below and I never saw any of the kids inside of the pens. I felt overall the service I received was not what they try to sell and I am very dissatisfied. I had visualized the day much differently and wasn't very happy with how it went. I can't say that I would book them again or recommend them for a party. The previous location, tho very adorable, was often difficult to get to (on Main Street smack dab between the main drag of downtown and the M-14 on ramp which made visiting tough during peak traffic times) and small for things like classes and the like. This new spot is not just bigger for them behind the scenes (you can see their production space via the window next door) but there's a large lobby for both showcasing their beautiful cake work and also for classes which they host regularly on the weekends. I've taken classes on both the older location and in this new space and I have to say this new space is much roomier and easier to work in than the previous spot. And the classes are so well organized and I've learned so much. Even if you're not an experienced cake or cookie decorator it's a blast as Heather and her team make the projects accessible for every skill level. You also walk away with some delicious treats and some really useful worksheets and instructions (I still use the royal icing recipe I received in a class I took 7 years ago). Speaking of delicious treats, they've also opened back up their walk-in dessert counter once a month so you can stop in to pick up cake slices or cookies (the chocolate brownie cookies are SO good). And for special occasions you can also pre-order one of their signature designed cakes on their website for pick up that weekend. Cake options come in a variety of trendy decor choices, from frilly vintage piping with glittered cherries, to pressed flowers or watercolor painting on the sides. All the designs and flavors are perfect for a birthday, anniversary, or even a small intimate wedding. I recently went to a wedding that went this route and instead of getting a tall tiered cake they had several of the Sweet Heather Anne signature layer cakes on a dessert table. It was beautiful! And more affordable and convenient than a custom design. That said, if you're looking to splurge on a fancy design they can also hook that up! One look in their storefront will have you wishing you had a special occasion to book one of these incredible cakes for. I love just coming in and admiring their beauty! We're so lucky to have such a nationally renowned bakery in town and even more lucky that they offer a variety of accessible options no matter what you're looking for!
