I've driven by this place a million times when on my way to my bestie's house in Lancaster & have always wondered "what's inside?" So about 2 yrs ago I had asked my bestie about this place & she took me there. I was visiting her on Monday for the night so on my way home to my Mom's house on Tuesday I stopped in here to pick up some apple cider for my Mom's boyfriend & to grab some apple cider donut's for them, me & another best friend. I do find this store to be expensive but they have lots of things in here. Frozen foods, drinks, apples, premade meals in their refrigerated area, candy, snacks, jelly's, dips, desserts, produce (etc.) & a counter where you can get something made there to go or you can eat it there in a small seating area. Their bathrooms are outside. Give yourself plenty of time if you're going to stop in here because there is soooo much to look at! read more

This is the place! Cozy country stores down with all the fixin's! They have a deli and they make sandwiches to order. The store is filled with all kinds of goodies and variety you'd expect in a good country store. I made myself not look around too much because I would have bought a lot. There drinks selection is a dream. I picked a Dr. Pepper tall boy. I ordered my sandwich then went to the front to pay for it while it was being prepared. There was an older man with a lady checking out before me. The cashier was engaging in conversation with the gentleman for a bit, it was lovely. It was real , again lol, country stores down vibes. I didn't mind waiting at all and rather enjoyed it. They have an apple orchard and pumpkins and many varieties of apples, cider, deli items, boba kits, wachamacallit and other harder to find candy bars, gourmet popcorn. So much more. Neat little roadside farm stand. I hit this place up in October, just in time for hot made on-site cider donuts! Pumpkins, hot cider, and local crafts were also available... and of course, apples! There was beautiful fresh produce, baked goods, and a deli. If you wish to eat in, there are tables on site. They even have unique gifts. This is the type of place that really makes you want to support local businesses. Glad we stopped. read more

Always a wonderful experience you can pick your own, or you can pick from the buckets that they have in their stand. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and kind direct you in the right place we stopped to get a cup of coffee and some cider donuts to take home. We had just come from the fair at the convent up the street. We got our coffees sat down the café inside. It was super busy that day that I went outside and they had a person making donuts, fresh right as a fryer later so we get our apple cider donuts there ate a couple at at the stand itself and then we're on our way. It's always a fun experience when we go there whether we go by ourselves with the children. But actually a very family oriented place with lots of things for the kids to do interesting stuff going on that day. they had a vendor fair but we didn't really see anything we were looking for. Best Deli sandwich I've ever had in my life! I wanted one of everything. As a first timer I appreciated how unique of a shopping experience this was. It made the long trip here really worth while. It felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore the store and try to soak it all in, while finding any hidden gems they had to offer. One of these hidden gems was the biscotti which was extremely good, I was surprised. The customer service was great too the cashiers were very helpful! Lots of great choices from apples and apple products, fruits, vegetables, breads, cheeses, nuts, honey, jams, jellies, deli, and grocery essentials. I ordered food from the deli and it was soooo good. The place looks really nice on the inside and out, very clean and organized. I hope I have a chance to come back again someday! read more

I made the mistake of ordering an Italian sandwich on a bulkie today. I should've known when the guy behind the counter asked me what kind of cheese I want (?). He mentioned cheddar is good...ok, so I'm not in the city anymore, I get it, but wow. This sandwich had bologna in it and was probably the worst Italian I've had in my life. Ooof. Lesson learned. Sorry to report that while eating my first slice of their own branded Apple Bread that I bought today, I bit two small pieces of plastic. Luckily I was able to retrieve them from my mouth and throw them out instead of swallowing them. First time this has happened to me with their products. This place has ample parking and is relatively accessible. The store itself is fairly sizable and sells their own produce along with conventional grocery store items. Basically a little grocery store (no pick-your-own) focusing on their own crops and New England food stuff and other specialty items. We went when they were making apple cider donuts and kettle corn and the apple harvest was in. I liked the little barrel-in-a-wall where you can drop in 10 cents for a cup of cider on the honor system. It was their filtered cider when I tasted it, much hyped on their web site, and I liked it. They also have homemade ice cream and coffee and deli and other stuff you can eat on site, with tables for that purpose. 9-5 hours are pretty inconvenient; I'd have stopped by after dark to get more apples. They do have a good selection of apple varieties, some of which are hard to find in a regular supermarket, and I would go back for those if I didn't want to do the picking. We were brought here by Alex the Cider Donut Reviewer's glowing praise of their product on the radio. It's possible Bolton Orchards has the best apple cider donut in New England - hot out of the fryer is certainly way better than week-old store-bought, and these were nice and fluffy - but it's still a pretty ordinary donut. If you're a big fan of this nostalgic donut genre, go for it. If you want to be blown away, though, try a modern variety at Union Square Donuts or even a Boston Cream at Dunkie's. read more

I really enjoy coming to Bolton Orchards all year round! In the summer, I love coming here to pick up fresh potato salads, macaroni salads, etc for cookouts! Their fruits are so fresh to make a beautiful fruit salad and their veggies make a great addition to any summer meal. In the fall, they offer their fresh apples (of course) and also sell their homemade apple cider all year! The fresh apple cider donuts are a must when making a trip out to Bolton Orchards. I've only been a handful of times and I know I'm missing out a lot of other things they do offer, so go check them out! My day off from work & decided to stop in mostly to buy some apples. Its been awhile since I've shopped here. To be frank I was quite disappointed. What happened to the variety of what we're obviously fresh apples to choose from? Today there were maybe 5 crates where there used to be at least 10. I'm far from an expert, but looking closely they appeared not much different from what I could purchase in a supermarket. The store appears to have gone the take out meal/sandwich route vs. what it was when I'd bring my children there. I did see some of what looked like cider donuts. They didn't speak to me. So, I'm not sure how fresh they actually were . When I went to check out, the staff member I interacted with wasn't on the friendly side,.. not good Sorry, Bolton Orchards... There are plenty of other orchards/ stores in the area where I will take my business. read more

I wanted to love this, but I thought it was just okay. They had a decent variety of apples and peaches and then an assortment of other packaged goods, jams, maple syrup. They do have fresh apple cider and fresh apple cider donuts that smelled amazing. There's nothing better than a donut right out of the fryer and I can't wait to try these next time I come here. The peaches, apples and tomatoes looked like the best things they had for produce. The rest of the stuff didn't look quite as fresh to me and you could find similar if not better at Whole Foods. The produce wasn't necessarily super cheap either. They also have a bakery, deli, and they sell other breads, cookies but I wasn't terribly tempted by anything other than the apple cider donuts. I've been coming here for 5 years and they definitely have the absolute best cider doughnuts I've had anywhere in New England! I like their variety of produce, baked goods, and prepared meals! One of the few places I treasure. They make and sell cider & cider donuts year round - an absolute must for someone like myself who could live in an eternal Autumn. Their deli is great for when you need a quick lunch or just simply want a good sandwich. They are pretty faithful to keeping their weekly specials updated on their facebook page. When the weather warms up, they open up the ice-cream stand . Locally-made ice cream is carried in the freezer all year. Also a good place for quick, last-minute gift shopping! I've been known to drag my boyfriend in for random pick-me-ups, perusing the bakery display cases, grabbing a cupcake (or two) and random knick-knacks (they often have flowers/stuffed animals/baskets/seasonal/holiday stuff). Being that we live a state over, we come here more for leisure than necessity. But more often than not, we find that we are convenienced by the availability of fresh produce and basic grocery items. This past weekend while traveling through Bolton, we wanted to pick up some locally grown apples for a family member, so we decided to stop in at this store. This was the first time we have stopped in at Bolton Orchard but we have passed it a million times. Every time we pass by the parking lot is packed so we had a good idea that the experience would be great. What I can tell you is that we were not disappointed! This farm store has an incredible selection of locally grown apples which they had outside. They so have an indoor market that is open year-round and has an amazing selection of goods. On the way out we ended up buying some of their kettle corn which was incredible! I can hands down say it was the best kettle corn I've ever had. The staff here was also really polite and made time to have a conversation with us which was nice. Overall, great orchard and we hope to come back. read more

Wow... SUPER unfriendly and rude associates. Just went in to grab some food and desserts for a pot luck lunch and the woman at Gerardo's could not have been more of a fuss bucket had she tried. We ordered 12 mini desserts to go - with no one behind us - and she looked soooo damn annoyed behind the counter and then was sassy about our payment. Gerardo's is usually nice food but we won't be coming back for anything in the future -- SOOO weird. Then as we paid for the (way overpriced) quiche the two ladies at the register were also super rude. Maybe something happened today - maybe Santa died - but there appeared to be no reason to be such obnoxious associates on this beautiful December morning. This review is more for the market than the actual orchard. VERY cute mini market with a GERARDO's Bakery inside! AND Ice Cream seasonally. ALSO - there's a 24 hr ATM on the premises.. WOAH. Gerardos bakes the best items inside here- not knocking their existing bakery items, its just that there's NO comparison. They have a select amount of stuff they have larger availability of in other locations. As for the rest of the store, I always find something new. Like different bread flavors, take home and heat meals, and some obscure but delightful pantry items. I love the vibe here. Feels like a country store but you can still get your soda and junk foods too. Its odd, but in a perfect way, and in the craziest location. Staff is genuinely nice and accommodating and always offer to help you to the car. I have to stop here on my way home to gather a bag of apples or better- the cider donuts as soon as they are available. I probably could eat an entire truckload in a matter of minutes. One would have to come back at least a half dozen times to catch all the little cool things and items to stumble upon. Rumors of hot lunch served here makes me very excited. Stay tuned. read more

$.05 cup of cider from the tap! Heard about it from Edible Boston magazine and couldn't wait to try it for myself. It was delicious and very refreshing on a humid day. Ended up buying a gallon to take home. I recommend going here for picnic items. Ordered a cranberry walnut chicken sandwich on a bulkie roll (perfect with just lettuce and tomatoes), do not order with extra mayo or you will ruin a wonderful sandwich. The potato salad was also very good-big chunks of red potatoes, bacon, and celery. Also tried a bite of the spicy turkey sandwich..good, but not as good as the cran-walnut chicken. Also went home with a jar of peach butter (had it with toast this morning..not as peachy as I thought it would be), apple butter, strawberry-rhubarb jam (has a hint of apple), and salsa. After Shipment, I received an unintelligible voice mail that apples were shipped---no receipt with shipping charges. Paid $48 shipping , and apples were received 5 days later. Seems like for that shipping cost, apples should have arrived in 2-3 days. This company is not prepared to do efficient shipping of product. Will NEVER ship from here again. read more

This market is as good as it gets for a specialty store. We just happened to see their sign off the highway and decided to stop in because I wanted to go to an orchard for apple picking. Well there ain't apple picking here but we did get an awesome made to order sandwich. They have all types of groceries, food to go, apple cider, ice cream, fresh hot cider donuts, a bakery, a coffee shop. This little store has it all and outside benches so you can get immediate satisfaction from all your food purchases. I loved it and then we went down the road to Bolton Springs for the apple picking. Bolton Orchards is a great place for cider donuts, last minute pick ups like bread or eggs, etc. the bakery and sandwiches and deli are great, as well. However, if you want to be totally turned off on the place forever, stop by the coffee counter. The sourpuss serving coffee needs a SERIOUS attitude adjustment. She is generally annoyed by every person, any time of the day, and is terrible at hiding it. I think if you hate people you shouldn't be serving coffee. I used to love going in here for anything, now I get a bad taste in my mouth when needing to stop in for something, solely thanks to the coffee lady. read more

This is a source worth the 45 minute drive to from my house. They always have reasonably priced apples sold in pre-selected baskets or for your perusal in the massive bulk bins... and they stock the ellusive and delicious Golden Russet cider when it is in season (November)... though I liked the really light, pinot noir-colored variant more than when it starts looking like normal cider. I was a little disappointed at the apple crisp. The store stocks a good amount of regular produce, operating as a local market with a broad selection of staples. They have a selection of local cheese and specialty products, so a good stop if you have visiting tourists who want to pick up a 'taste of New England'. The local Lions club sometimes does fundraisers in the back lot where they sell delicious, piping hot donuts, served right off the fryer. The smell is dangerous to the waistline. My best friend and I ended up coming here three times in one day during an orchard expedition last October to get donuts. read more
