The prices may be a bit high but, in the decades our family and friends have been going, not once did we have any problems with portions, freshness, no grease food. We actually get two meals from these dinners. Any other restaurant will charge $25-$35 for full belly clams. In my years you get on average about 20 clams. Never had less that mid 30's count, some small but vast majority medium and large. If you think the price is too high, take a close look at freshness, non-greasy, large portions at the "big name" restaurants. Bet you can't compare. read more

Went to kimball farm not knowing anything about them and just looking for some ice cream after a soccer match across the street. What a pleasant surprise this turned out to be! The lines were a little daunting at first and it was a bit of a free for all trying to get to the window to order, but it moved fairly quickly considering. There were a ton of flavors, most of which were traditional but they also had some really creative flavors for the adventurers out there. I had the vanilla blueberry crumble and others had the coffee heath bar, m and m, and cookie dough. Every one of them was delightful; packed with flavor and goodies. The only one that was a little short on the additive ingredients was the coffee heath bar that was slightly lacking in the heath bar bits. The blueberry crumble was outstanding and something I could easily eat regularly. Overall it was rich, creamy, flavorful, massive quantities and reasonable prices for what you get. I'd probably get a kiddie cup next time as the small was quite large. They had a ton of picnic tables and tons of space to spread out. There were shaded areas and areas in full sun if that's your thing. I must admit, I read the negative reviews only after visiting and I was quite surprised. Kimball Farm, my beloved--I genuinely miss you every time winter rolls around! This location in northern Lancaster is a short detour off Route 2. Heading down Lunenburg Rd, you'll easily spot a wide entrance right across from Dunkin' Donuts. Parking is straightforward, with extra lots opened during busy days. Dining is set beneath a large tent that protects from rain and intense sun, but if you prefer sunshine, there are tables that sit just outside the tent. There's also seating on the grassy area, pleasantly shaded by trees. You place order at the window and pay up-front, and then you wait around for your number to be called. So make sure you're still paying attention if you're listening to music or having a conversation. Condiments, utensils, and napkins are all self-serve, along with the beverage dispensers. Kimball Farm introduced me to fried seafood plates, and it remains my favorite spot. I'm utterly addicted to their fried scallops--perfectly golden and flavorful--and the crispy, juicy whole belly clams. Seafood is available either as a fried plate (served with fries and coleslaw) or as "sides" in half-pint or pint portions. Prices here aren't cheap--I usually spend around $40-$50--but the quality, freshness, and generous portions make it entirely worth it. If you're not too stuffed after finishing your meal, Kimball Farm also serves fantastic ice cream. I highly recommend the Coffee Oreo, but honestly, there's no wrong choice here. Went here last night with my family. We usually frequent the Westford Kimballs but this one brings me back to what the Westford one used to be. I love Westford kimballs but it is nice to just have just the ice cream stand a fields sometimes. When we went on a Sunday night it was a lot less busy than usual as well. I heard about this place & love seafood, so my sister drove us the 1.5 hours here for my birthday. Nothing about the location not service was appealing. Seemed as if the high schoolers were more concerned with flirting and TikTok than assisting us. Went for lunch, had a scallop dinner, food was excellent as usual. When checking sales receipt later, there was a $ 12.95 tip added to the bill. Nowhere is it posted they do this. Would not go again due to deceptive practices with this issue. When I get take-out I give a tip for good service. No one serves you, you serve yourself. Beware! There are fewer "attractions" (no mini golf or bumper boats) here than at the theme park that is the Westford location, but the parking and line times are much easier, and the ice cream is the same. Fried clams, scallops, and shrimp were all cooked crisp, with scallops and shrimp tender/juicy; clams were a little overcooked. Surprisingly impressive hot dog: a large, snappy, adult-flavored beast similar to if not actually a Pearl, with a grilled New England style roll. Onion rings excellent, with good crunch, pleasant batter, and nice distribution of ring sizes. Comfortable picnic table seating close to the stands under a tent or further away on the grass without tent. Your reward for traveling out to the boonies: cheap gas across the street (though there's cheaper closer to Leominster). Probably closer to 3.5 than 4, but the good vibes here bump it up. read more

Ended up here on Columbus Day Weekend. Which happens to be their last weekend of the season. They only had 2 flavors of ice cream a vanilla and chocolate. We have also had the fried shrimp & the seafood plate.It's a picnic table eating area under a tent so on hot days a bit uncomfortable but usually nice. It can get very crowded on weekends & weekdays a lunch time. It is pricey especially if you have a family with you but they do have other meals besides seafood. The only thing I would change is to be able to sub onion rings for fries because an order of rings is huge. I have been eating Kimballs ice cream since I was a kid & it's always good. Finally most annoying - they only let you get one flavor of ice cream even in the larger sizes. Every other place in the world lets you pick two flavors, even for their small. I don't get why this is as popular as it is. The fried food isn't well seasoned, so if you don't like ketchup it's not worth eating. The serving sizes are large for the ice cream but it's not a good quality ice cream. I'm pretty sure the butterfat content is too low. Whatever it is, there's not a single flavor that's actually enjoyable. Big doesn't mean good. I'd rather have a small portion of high quality ice cream than a large portion of something that's mediocre. read more

Kimballs is a really nice place to get together with family or friends to have lunch or an ice cream (a massive ice cream, at that). I love their seafood. It's very fresh and they have a lot of options. My favorite item on the menu is the haddock nuggets. They recently made them a permanent item on the menu. I love that they give watermelon with all meals. As for the sides, if Kimballs told me they were sold out of everything other than the potato salad, I'd be absolutely okay with that. I always order extra. Something about it, I LOVE. The ice cream portions are massive, so if you're used to getting a small-medium, get a kiddie-small. If you're used to getting a large, plan on sharing with multiple people. They have an awesome assortment of flavors. The thing I can live without is the snobby teenagers they hire to run the place. I'm frankly disturbed by my experience here and will never return. We ended up here wanting to treat ourselves with ice cream after a long hike. Our ice cream order didn't look correct, and after a couple bites, it was confirmed they had given us the wrong flavor. I walked up and explained they'd given us the wrong flavor - I wasn't trying to finagle free ice cream by any means. I just pointed out we were given the wrong flavor and asked if they could give us the flavor we ordered. Ice cream is a rare treat, we'd hiked for hours, and we'd driven out of our way for our favorite flavor from Kimball's. The teenage/twenty-something employee became aggressive, immediately summoned her middle-aged female supervisor, and the two began berating me in front of other customers. The supervisor loudly said, in front of other customers, that I clearly had no idea what flavor I'd ordered because I obviously would have recognized it and how could I not see it was right there in front of me (um, it was the absolute wrong order and it was pretty obviously not what we'd ordered because the color/ingredients were totally different). I was shocked. I don't think I've ever seen two people escalate their behavior so aggressively. The middle aged supervisor literally yelled after me, in front of other customers, as I walked away. By the way, I worked at an ice cream stand in high school. I would never dream of treating a customer like that and berating them in front of others. I'm still shocked by how two employees here could become so aggressive and scream me in front of other customers. I'm a local and frequent Kimballs often with my family. Kimballs closes at 9pm on Fridays. Tonight (Friday, September 10th,) I walked up to the window at exactly 8:57pm and see all the kids mopping and cleaning up. After being ignored for 3 minutes, a girl reluctantly opens the window to tell me they were closed. I asked what time they close and she said 9pm. I mentioned to her that I was standing there for 3 minutes (with no line) and she said "sorry, the cash registers are already shut down". I asked what time it was and she said "it''s 9pm". I said "I'm paying cash, can you please scoop me 1 ice cream?" She said "no". I wish I asked to speak with the manager, but I'm beyond annoyed. I can understand being turned away at 9:05pm or anytime after that...but seriously? Turning someone away exactly at 9pm after you ignore them?! I was ignored for 3 minutes so they could intentionally tell me it was 9pm and not serve me. I hope that Kimballs management sees this review and address the staff that were working tonight. It's only 10 minutes from us and it has great Fried Seafoods and Grilled chicken and fried fish sandwiches, hamburgers, hotdogs, and very good lobster roll. Don't for get to ask to switch between to the waffle fries from regular fries (if it's included with your dinner (ad another $1) but it's huge and delicious.
