Time for a new review. We had two new doors/locks installed and a 3rd needed to be rekeyed so I could have 1 housekey. The guys at Bomacs told me 1) if the new key fit the existing locks it could be rekeyed 2) I could save the trip fee by removing the door knob and deadbolt to bring them to the store directly. I had issues reinstalling the deadbolt and Alan was so patient and kind on the phone instructing me the proper order to reinstall. I must have asked him to repeat it three times! He kept telling me not to worry. The lock was stubborn so I took a video and went back in. Jim watched the video and told me I was doing everything right. We determined I should try some WF-40 on the deadbolt itself. Problem solved (again!). I have to say these guys provide the BEST customer service and ALWAYS treat me in the kindest possible way. They are never condescending (because I am a woman - yes, this still happens) and I learned a new skill! And while in my previous review Alan mentioned they are in business to make money- the fact that they are also helping me save money keeps me coming back! Bomac's just spared me a $190 service charge by telling me how to service my own lock. The key was sticking and I thought it was the key a while back - but now the original key (to the deadbolt they installed years ago) started sticking too. They suggested I try using some WD-40 or other lubricant first to trouble-shoot. It worked! Then, I decided to try it on my front door latch (door has always been hard to open)... and now it opens super easily! My kids are mad I didn't do that sooner LOL. I appreciate their honestly and suggestion for me to try myself and when I called back to thank them, he suggested I use the savings to take a loved one out to dinner! I have had really bad luck with Bomac. They sold me keypad locks that were the opposite of intuitive. Even the tech had trouble getting them to work. I wish they had acted more as my advocate or an expert in the field and suggested equipment that was more intuitive and functional. (Door locks don't need to be terribly complicated, after all!) Fortunately, Bomac agreed the locks were too difficult to operate and installed a different brand. But at least one of the locks was installed incorrectly and didn't work properly. When I called Bomac, the man acted as sweet-as-pie, but told me I would need to pay another travel and service fee to get the lock stalled correctly. (I took this to mean they don't stand by their service work). Another lock had a knob that just spun around rather than move the deadbolt. When I called Bomac to say it wasn't working, they told ME that I needed to be the one to call the manufacturer. When I called the manufacturer, they were shocked that the installer / wholesaler who sold them to me didn't call themselves. Again, Bomac, in a sweet-as-pie voice, told me they would replace the defective lock, but, again, I needed to pay the travel and service fee to get the lock installed correctly. (As a result, I paid multiple fees even though the locks did not work for more than a few weeks.) I would prefer that the man who answers the phone at Bomac be less saccharinely sweet and actually stand by his company's work. read more

These guys are great! They have a bunch of cool items for sale like coke can hideaways, gun safes, etc. but what was really impressive was I needed a key cut for a 40 year old motor cycle and they couldn't trace it because my key was bent.... These guys succeeded where 15 other lock smiths failed. I called everywhere with each call getting further and further from home until a friend referred me to these guys. They were super knowledgeable, I instantly felt like I was in good hands, all of them(I think 4 guys?) really knew their stuff, I was so impressed. And I'm sorry I didn't get the young guys name but he helped me, and even lubed up my ignition for me and I just don't have enough great things to say about this place. I have an old Italian chest that was missing a key. I tried several other locksmiths but no one could open it or provide a key. Someone suggested Bomac locksmith in walnut creek. I called and was told they could do it. I put the chest in the car and drove to walnut creek. Someone at Bomac took it out if the car and took it into the lock shop. While they were telling me it could take a while to figure it out, one of them opened it and then found a key that worked. I came home with two keys. Very pleased! read more

I was in a pickle and Bomac helped me through it. My fiancé's parent's truck was stuck on Alpine Road , almost across the street from their shop. After several AAA visits they thought it was an ignition problem. Danny first helpfully encouraged lubricant (one of the untried approaches) as a cost effective attempt to start the car. When that didn't work, Alan walked over with me to see what he could do, as their automotive person was on vacation. He did what no one else could do and got the key to turn the engine over. Needed our 20-year old front door lock fixed. It broke right after the home sale but before escrow closed. Tech came out on Monday after I called on Friday. I'm sure they could have come sooner but I didn't want to pay for weekend service as it wasn't an emergency. Had it up and running in no time, service charge seemed reasonable to me. 1-year warranty on repair. Knocked off one star as tech had to come back out about a week later as the lock was sticky again. I needed a new key for my car because the metal key component broke off of my old one. My poor handicapped car key was swathed in Scotch tape, just a sad little contraption held together with a prayer and a purpose. After doing a little research, I decided to order a shell online and have the metal cut to match my key, which is much cheaper than going to the dealership. But my research on where to have a fancy-dancy new-school car key cut was seriously lacking, and so I kept that sad Scotch-taped disaster on my keyring and prayed it didn't dislodge. Last week, I realized Bomac's is a short sprint from my job and called to find out what they could do for me. I was delighted to learn from Joe, who answered my call, that they would charge a mere $61 plus tax to whip my new shell into the shape of it's predecessor. Today, I finally made the trip to Bomac's on my lunch break and was assisted by Alan. (...Or, as I've decided I will call him "The Key King".) Alan was helpful, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. He picked up the phone a few times while he was making my key and was clearly helping to troubleshoot with another member of the team that was on a house call. His knowledge and understanding of the mechanics of all things key and lock related was pretty impressive. When we realized the battery for my beep-beep (that's the proper term, look it up) was dead, Alan went so far as to take the entire key apart again and suggest that I go to Ace Hardware across the street to get the battery replacement. Alan also agreed to put the entire thing back together for me, even though I had already used up a significant amount of his time and probably a pinch of his patience, too. But Alan never acted that way! He sent me to Ace, where I grabbed the watch battery and returned so that he could seal the deal. He even sprayed my door locks with lubricant to preserve the life of my key and the lock that much longer. If I ever need a key, lock, door handle, ridiculously luxurious safe or any random key accessory, you can bet I'll be back at Bomac's in a flash. (But I won't drive too fast on my way there... Because as the decal on the back of their van points out: "We have no keys to Heaven." But they do have the key to everything else. Including my heart.) read more

I've had multiple positive experiences here - both service at my home, over the phone, and dropping things off in person at the shop, unfortunately today was not the case and soured my previous experiences. Alex, a technician for Bomac's, came to my home and customer service is not his strength. I had purchased Schlage locks at Home Depot for my new home to be installed (I was told this was an option over the phone prior to making my appointment). I identified with Alex the 4 doors with locks that needed to be addressed, and explained that my husband and I had just moved and in, and our priority was rekeying. Alex stated in a condescending tone that two of the handles to accompany the locks that I bought were not the best option. While I understand that locks are not my specialty, there was no need for rudeness nor irritation while talking to me. He stated that he could order the correct locks for me, which I was fine with and that he would come back. I asked if it was possible for him to stay since he was already there and install/rekey the two locks (front door & back door) that were correct, and that I would just pick up the rekeyed locks from his shop for the other doors because the most important doors were being addressed (access to outside), the door I would finish myself was from the garage to the laundry room. He got visibly angry with this suggestion, so I called my husband from the back of the house to assist with communication. Things did not improve and we told him we no longer needed his help and to leave. When I called and spoke with the owner Alan regarding this experience, I was very surprise by the response, as I had called to give the owner the heads up that his employee was costing him business and wanted to prevent other clients from having the same poor experience. Instead of acknowledging his employee's behavior, he said "well Alex likes things a certain way and it sounds like you and your husband didn't have your game together." Gayle and I are slowly working through what work we want to do on our Pleasant Hill home, as we continue to combine our households. I have the Brady Bunch tune running through my head, while my Lovely Lady would settle right now for Alice the Housekeeper. There's also a big "honey do" list for both of us to work through. Eric B. from Bomac's Locksmith came out yesterday to change the locks on the front door and install a view port. And no we didn't do it keep various key-carrying family members out. We both didn't like our inability to see who was at the front door. Plus, the amount of key jiggling required to open the thing was really starting to get irritating. My only initial quibble was that the bill was a little higher than I expected. However, Alan responded promptly to my email inquiry and very thorougly explained and easily justified each part of the service. As for that, Eric B. did a very complete and nice job. He was also informative, professional, and friendly to both me and the dog. Managed to lose my entire key fob and decided to pop into Bomac's TWICE now since they're well known in the area. First, on a weekend since I'm nearby-- I show up and have to wait---and wait--- and wait-- for whomever is being served first (NOT a problem as to be expected to some degree), BUT they're waiting on someone with a very time consuming issue. Nobody even says "I'll be right with you" or "let me get someone in back to help". There's ONE person working the counter and he's busy cutting keys, giving advice, etc. So by the time my turn it up, I'm told the "auto guy" is on lunch break and ran outta gas. Not sure when he'd be back. So I waited 15 minutes for guy to tell me that I couldn't be helped until some unspecified time. Second time, stopped in on a weekday thinking that I'd catch the "auto guy"--11.20 am, my same lost key fob problem. Waited yet again after another customer was having some other time consuming issue. Now I'm told that the auto guy is out to lunch again and won't be back for another hour and a half---or so. Sheesh. I'm done driving over there just to find out that their auto guy is not there-out to lunch--I gotta come back, etc. Perhaps they could have taken down my # to have the guy call me? Or the auto guy could have a consistent schedule? I've spent enough time, energy and GAS trying to get something done here to no avail. read more

I had both a broken lock as well as a broken off key in my club's locker at the Event Center on Wednesday, June 8. I thought for sure they'd have to destroy the lock and put in a new one. Very nice guys who know what they are doing. I lost my car key (with transponder). It was the last of my original master keys. All I had was an original valet. Dealership wanted $65 for the key alone and $165 to program it, and I had to leave my car with them. When I told them I only had the valet key left, they wanted another $60+ to make a master. I was able to get another valet key cut and programmed at OSH for $80 but I wanted a master, which they couldn't do. Called Bomac's and the guy was incredibly nice and helpful over the phone. Went down to see them and they were able to cut me a brand new MASTER key and program it for about $110, while I waited. Still an expensive key but saved me tons compared to dealership prices, and the guy there was friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back for any locksmithing needs. read more

I just moved into a new house. Realtor recommended changing the locks, as the prior owner had a lot of workmen in and out prepping the house to be flipped. He suggested Bomac's. I'm glad he did. They were friendly, and provided prompt and excellent service They were nice on the phone, they were able to get me scheduled at my preferred date & time (next business day) and the locksmith arrived on time. I had a perfectly pleasant experience hiring Bomac's to change locks at our new house. The scheduling for the technician was easy and they came out within a week. Changed 10+ locks pretty quickly, and the tech noticed and fixed the orientation of some upside-down locks from the previous owner which was helpful. The tech also had some knob and lock sets in his truck he was able to sell these to me and convert a couple of our doors to a key lock and match them to one of two key sets. I felt the pricing was reasonable, they did everything I asked and the tech that arrived put up with my day-of requests no problem. read more

Never thought I'd be writing a Yelp review about a locksmith, but seriously they deserve it! I have used Bomacs for making keys and also for letting me back into my house when I locked myself out ($100 later). Even though the price was high, they were super-fast, very courteous, and the dude was clearly a former Deadhead, so big ups for that. Also, when I needed to replace and copy a key that was old and from the 1940s, I went to four different locksmiths and they all told me to go blow, that I needed to contact the manufacturer from the 50's! Not Bomacs! They worked extra hard to find me a "blank" and make copies of the key that worked like a charm! Highly recommend. I hope this Yelp review gets them some business! read more
