a plate of naan bread and a bowl of soup

Our first Indian restaurant experience in Illinois. It's great for family outing as recommended by friends. The variety of Indian dishes are great as they have my favourite Indian dish like "Palak Paneer" served with Garlic Naan. . The "Chicken Dam Biryani" has got some surprise (marinated chicken layer as you dive into the bowl (Topped with boiled egg and garnishes) and a real proper dish for group. . "Gobi 65" (fried cauliflower) got the party started but we would prefer it served piping hot and crispier so as "Sesame Jhinga"

Called 7 times at 1:57pm but suppose to be open, closes at 2:30pm

On Saturdays, they close at 2:30 pm. I called 7 times since 1:57 pm and no answer. I decided to go up there and arrived at 2:05 pm and the door is locked. This is not the only time this had happened. Bad enough they have weird hours and do not stay open but not staying open when you're supposed to be and answering the phone to accept a pick-up order is unprofessional for a business.

Food was fresh & delicious, plus the host was also very attentive. Overall great experience, & I definitely plan on coming back.

The flavor of the food is good but the quantity to price is outrageous. Malai Kofta is $11.99 but you get 4 tiny dumplings. Major rip off!

For sure the best Indian food cdale has ever had. Got the sampler plate and I don't know why you'd get anything else. the staff is very nice and attentive.

    Buffet lunch!

Really excited to see this new restaurant in town! The interior is simple and clean and the wait staff friendly and helpful. We came for Sunday lunch buffet and were he first ones in. All of the buffet items hadn't been put out yet, but when it was, there were nice and varied selections. They automatically being a basket of fresh naan to your table. The sauces were delicious, though they seemed to be thinner than what I'm used to. The meats weren't as tender as what I expected, but still good. There was even goat on the buffet. Multiple chutneys and sauces, including raita were on the buffet, as they should be, but not every Indian restaurant does this. Buffets are only at lunch time on Sunday's and Mondays and you order off the menu for dinners which is 7 days a week. Apparently you can order take out, too. I recommend it and out of a 10, I give it about an 8-8.5

The roast beef savory crepe is also tasty -- though a little light on meat. In terms of the milk tea, it is passable. The tapioca pearls are cooked properly, but the tea itself is nothing special. That said, for the price, it's hard to go wrong. The interior could use some work. It's a bit run down, and the paper towel dispensers in the bathroom don't work great. Prices aren't that bad either even with it being one of the nicer restaurants around here. The crepes can be meaty or vegetarian among the many options. Basically this place is all staffed by SIU students with it being close to the campus. It's a scenario that seems like a recipe for disaster. That's not the case entirely. Can be a bit of a wait of course. The menu isn't that big, so it helps keep things running smoother. It's about $5 for a crepe. They have savory and sweet. Among the savory ones, we tried the mushroom. These were good and light enough that we didn't get filled up. For dessert you can get sweet ones. These include fruit fillings and whipped cream on top. Good place for tea and crepes. It's located on University Avenue at Mill Street. They frequently close for school events and vacations.

Instead decided to try the Branch Cafe even though when we ate there a year ago we had a hour wait so we hadn't been back since. Ordered two breakfast meals and coffee and soup. It was around 2:40 ish when the waitress offered to get us a dessert because of our wait. Mind you we got there a few minutes after 2 because I looked at my phone right before we pulled in to park. We ate dessert and were still waiting so we asked the waitress if our order was being cooked because if not, we were going to pay for our coffees and go elsewhere. Almost a one hour wait. The whole back room was empty so it wasn't busy. So the owner proceeds to come up and started to argue about when we got there. The waitress says things like "when you go to fine dining, you expect a wait" as if we've never been in a sit down restaurant in our life. The whole experience was horrible. My food was cold. The owner and waitress were extremely rude, combative and condescending. I don't know if the waitress forget to turn our order in or what, but it was almost right at an hour wait for some soup and few breakfast items. Will NEVER be back. Do with that what you will.

If you have never had one, you are missing a mouth full of YUM! Last night, I went through the drive-thru and ordered my meal with special instructions. When I got home, I realized the order wasn't correct. I ate the fries and ice cream and counted it as a loss. Well, as I was returning from a trip this afternoon, I went by Culver's again. I was still needing that butter-burger itch scratched. Unfortunately, my order was made incorrect again. This time, I saved the burger, and after a brief nap, I drove back to Carbondale, determined to get my burger. As soon as I walked into the door, I was greeted by Manager De'Ante. I explained what had happened and asked for a replacement meal. I didn't want to go another day without that delicious burger. De'Ante repeated my order to ensure it would be done correctly, then told his team to begin the preparation of my meal. I am happy to report that the Culver's team got it right this time! We all have bad days, so I try to grant grace when something goes awry, and I love it when a restaurant is responsive and willing to correct its mistakes. Not only did I get my food hot and fresh, but unlike when I went through the drive-thru, I could see how beautiful the restaurant was inside. I was impressed with the accessibility and cleanliness as well. As you can see from the attached photos, the restaurant and lot are clean, well-lit, and extremely inviting. I recommend you go to Culver's for a delicious meal. When you stop in, tell them Kindra Speech sent you!
