The family that started it donated the land 52 years ago and with the help of volunteers they created something for the neighborhood to use and enjoy. Now the pool is 52, so she's no spring chicken. She has laugh lines and character that show she has been loved. The people that run the pool are all volunteers and it's the kind of place that you can come and make it what you want it to be! The membership is very reasonable and they have a kiddy poi and an awesome diving board. Bring your cooler, but know that they do have a small snack bar to get an ice cream or something else while you are there. Really there is nothing better than a community pool. A place where you can go and know you and your kids will be safe and people look after each other because people make a place and this one is pretty amazing!

The building is a beautiful Arts and Crafts/Shingle Style building that was originally used as a school and meeting house/town hall. It is now the main club house for the GPRA. I personally join the pool each summer as it provides me with an escape from the daily grind. There are three pools. An adult, kids, and wading pool. There are nice gas grills and a raised sun deck. Bathrooms with showers are also provided for pool users. You can even bring a cooler of cold adult beverages! The clubhouse is nicely landscaped and kept up on the outside but lacks central air conditioning and is thus always hot in the summer. It is available for private parties for members. Membership is relatively affordable and rates ban be seen on line. There is also a swim team called the Dolphins. It is both child and adult friendly. Many 20 and 30 something singles hang out by the adult pool and there is a festive party atmosphere on weekends, the pools are even open until 10pm on Saturday. Single membership is a one time fee of $350 and a family membership one time initiation is $580.

The only thing that could be improved upon at all at MAC is the management/workers for the Kids Club morning crew. Both times I took my children there in the morning, there were issues and I didn't get the welcoming vibe we get with the evening crew. I'd have given 5 starts for the lack of interest in my complaint: Request the therapy pool (jets treadmill) guests wear headphones or buds instead of blasting their music. People yesterday all wore earplugs because one entitled woman insisted on playing her music. "We've gotten a lot of complaints about her" the desk said. Yet nothing is done. Just a simple request! I've never experienced such complete selfishness - yet they don't care and allow the space to be dominated by loud inconsiderate guests. Headphones are cheap. I started bringing my daughter here before she was 1 years old. During the weekday, family swim is from 5-7pm. Life guards are friendly. During the week day, there's some local after school kids who come to the pool in large groups, so it can be a little chaotic especially with smaller kids in the pool. I still brought my daughter during these times, and we had interesting fund interactions and cultural education on Korean-Americans being different from Chinese people. ;) I see lots of families catching on to this pool, but I still think it is pretty under used. Amazing pool for the whole family!
