The waitstaff were knowledgeable about the food and wine. The wines are all from the owner's brother vineyard. We had the red and the Prosecco. The red was full bodied. The Prosecco was not too sweet Both were very good! The food was delicious! I didn't know what to expect with the artichoke flan. It was an amazing artichoke and cheese concoction with a shredded artichoke salad on the side. The pastas were all very good. The bolognese had tender meat with a tasty sauce. The tortellini in beef broth is also a local winter dish. The tortellini were filled with a nice mixture of beef and cheese with a full bodied beef broth. A simple but delicious dish! I'm usually not a truffle fan but the spaghetti with black truffles had a good balance of truffle flavor without being overpowering. The scalloping with cheese and Parma ham was tasty. The meat was tender, the cheese side decadent and the ham added a bit of salty flavor. We were too full for dessert!

The truffle tasted light. We did enjoy the pork cheek though. The atmosphere and service were great. They have an Italian and English menu. The bathroom is behind the mirror in the back. I would rate it a 3.5/5, rounding up to a 4/5.

I got a hot tea with lemon, perfect for the cold. We first got the pizza Bella arte, which has a bunch of toppings. I'm not normally a huge pizza fan, but this one was quite pleasant. The crust was thin and the edges had a nice crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. It was flavored nicely and had a good variety. My only complaint would be that toppings weren't distributed evenly. There was a huge one piece of artichoke that comprised a full bite. We also opted for more traditional Balogna dishes: the tortellini en brodo, which was not bad. Soup was seasoned ok, not too salty or too bland. The tortellini itself was simple, with some meat and cheese. Seems like a nice comfort food for those who grow up with it. The tagliatelle al ragú was seasoned well too, although the actual pasta was not as bouncy as others I've had. Not bad though. However at the end we thought we had ordered panna cotta and for some reason it never came. The waiter later seemed confused even though he previously repeated "dessert panna cotta"... so I don't know. But we decided to go without the dessert.... Unfortunately. Maybe a language issue we had.

Several other groups in there, and it's a really nice spot. Food and wait staff were all wonderful. Our group had a mix of steaks, pizza, tortellini and lamb chops, a well as a caprese-style flatbread, and a carafe of red wine. Prices, like everywhere in Bologna, were all a fraction of what you'd pay for a far worse meal in the US, making it painful to leave town.

We split the platter of meats, lasagna, tortellini, tagliatelle and ragu, and grilled veggies. The lasagna was soft, pillowy, and decadent without being heavy, the tagliatelle was al dente and flavorful, and the tortellini stuffed with creamy ricotta. For dessert we split a generous portion of tiramisu, which was creamy and rich. We had a couple bottles of Chianti. The ambiance is relaxing with a neighborhood vibes. This is a wonderful osteria, everything was chef's kiss.

They didn't have any tables outside so we were seated inside. Service (3.5/5): No WiFi unfortunately which isn't great for an international traveler like me. Standard European service. Not terribly friendly and not terribly efficient but I would say they were a bit more attentive than the norm. They did hook us up with some complimentary limoncello shots which was a really nice touch. Ambiance (3.5/5): A little quieter since it's off the beaten path which I like. A pleasant, homey restaurant. Drinks (4.5/5): We shared a bottle of wine. And the aforementioned limoncello shots. Food (4/5): We went with their pasta for two deal where each person gets three different types of pasta that you choose from six or so options. I love getting a variety of dishes so this was a nice way to do it. Not huge portions given the price but still delicious. The dishes were served to us quickly and we got to try some pastas we had never heard of. Overall: When in Bologna, Osteria Broccaindosso makes for a fine choice. It's a 15-minute walk or so from the center of town.

The only thing worth skipping was the local cut of mortadella, (boloney in the US). Otherwise it was a lovely starter. Then came what I was not expecting to be so big, the wood fired pizza, overspilling my plate! Four seasons of goodness with the mushrooms, sausage, artichoke and ham. I ate from the inside out, delicious! We enjoyed wine along with everyone else at lunchtime. My companions all had different pasta dishes which they cleaned off the plate. I could not finish mine. We did save room for coffee and our leisurely lunch was finally over. Slowly we made our way out, very content.

We were seated and started to look over the menu and wine list. My husband was in between a few bottles of wine, so the waiter brought the bottles over so we could take a look at them. First Course: gnocchetti with Spinach and Ricotta...OMG I have never had gnocchi like this. They just melted in your mouth, so delicious. Tagliatelle Bolognese was also delicious, good thing since we were in Bologna. Secondi: Cutlet with prosciutto and cheese, the plate was put in front of me and it was a huge white blob. I wasn't sure what to think, so I cut into it. The cutlet was so tender, the prosciutto crispy and the melted cheese covering it pulled the whole thing together, and it was fantastic. Braised rabbit with string beans was excellent. The most tender rabbit I have had any where, what a wonderful dish. We were stuffed, so decided against dessert, but we were so happy to have discovered da Pietro because it was an unbelievable dining experience. Definitely give it a try.

After walking around the city we stopped in for dinner, I felt a little under dressed however we were immediately greeted and seated with no wait or hesitation. This spot would be great for a date night, we sat next to another couple that was celebrating. For our appetizer we ordered the smoked goose breast, it was decadent, had a rich Smokey flavor but it was also light, a great start to our dinner. For our main course I ordered the pistachio crusted sea bass with spinach, and my partner the traditional Bolognese. For dessert, a tiramisu that had maybe a little too much chocolate powder on it and I would've loved some more berries on the plate but delicious nonetheless. We enjoyed every bite and recommend Franco Rossi when in Bologna.
