My 92 year old mother was a patient at HDH/Forest for 10 days for CHF and AFib. Firstly, she was…read moreadmitted to an Oncology/Med Surg Unit for heart issues and did not receive a telemetry box for at least 18 hours. The nursing / hospitalist care was horrific. She received too much IV Lasix by day-3 and was weak, shaky, and severely dehydrated. Nurses were instructed by the cardiologist to give all her meds before her Cardioversion and she didn't receive any (including her blood thinner). Also, when one of her blood thinner pills fell to the floor, the male nurse told her she could skip it for the day. She was left alone in her room at the end of the hall with the door closed tightly when she became disoriented, agitated, and confused. One morning, her 9am pills were still sitting on her table at 12:30pm bc the nurse didn't make sure she took them (when she was confused). When the "nurse" was confronted about her untaken meds and the door being closed, she put her hand in my face and walked away stating she was "going to give me a minute". She had to use the call button repeatedly to ask for help reaching her food tray, only to be ignored, and finally received help when the hospitalist came in her room. She did not receive any hygiene or oral care unless I asked for clean sheets, washcloths, and towels, and then I did the care for her - not the employees. Apparently, hygiene and oral care is no longer a routine part of nursing care and patients can go days without it, unless they have an advocate to facilitate it. Every day she was a patient at HDH she became weaker and had more issues. Finally, there was a huge cockroach in her bathroom that I smashed with my shoe. The nurse manager argued that it was a water bug...it was NOT. This is actually the second time I've seen a cockroach in this hospital. I have vowed to never return to this God-awful facility and have asked my family (and you) to go somewhere else if they want to live. For a previous ER Visit for my 92 year old mother with CHF and shortness of breath (on 12/16/25), the ER physician told us that "her case really isn't an emergency because the ER is for traumas, gun shot wounds, and heart attacks", but he proceeded to give her IV Lasix and admit her for CHF. Ugh...really? His personality was not suited for emergency medicine.

Because I am old, even though I am extremely healthy and extremely active and a female they did not even consider my back problems, but sent me immediately to a pain doctor with no training in orthopedics. They are all about money. Right now I went to an appointment to get x-rays and they want me to make another appointment in order for them to tell me what the x-rays showed even though it is a simple matter that I understand very well of a change in the degree of my scoliosis. Very simple . They are beyond greedy and moneygrubbing. I was there a week ago and I have probably gotten half a dozen notifications about payment even though I have yet to get my results. They are extremely unprofessional and make no effort whatsoever to present themselves as having any professionalism at all. They are rude and callous. They don't answer the phones. They don't return calls. I would like to give them a score of zero and I tell everyone I know to run in the opposite direction away from ortho Virginia. They are horrible.

The new company will not honor those payments plans and the executive leadership at OrthoVA has refused to return phone calls. When I spoke with escalations, within the company, they said the only recourse we had was to let the account go to collections. The "manager" at Cedar.com was rude, disrespectful and refused to give any corporate information. Ortho VA was unable to provide any information as well regarding the new company. With so many other great options in the Richmond area, we will be moving on.

She said the spot on my cheek was nothing but was happy to charge me a few hundred bucks for whatever she did to my forehead. I was searching for a dermatologist to take a look at this new problem area and ended up here.

Now that my personal information had been captured I was also provided with a document stating that I would be responsible for any charges that the insurance would not cover up to the amount of $1500.00. This organization stated that they would have full access to my personal account and could make withdrawals at will and I would be notified via email prior to the withdrawal. At that very moment I felt extremely uncomfortable with the arrangement but thinking that I would be adequately notified I would be able to adjust accordingly. Here's where the whole program falls apart. Taking it from the top the first charge, a $25.00 co-pay was debited from my account on 08/16/2016. The second charge of $51.41 was debited from my account on 09/06/2016 and I was never notified. Approximately a week later I was debited with a charge of $104.00 again not notified. I caught this in process and asked it be stricken and a stop put on any further charges, (date cannot be provided because it is no longer on the ledger,) action was reversed. On 09/13/2016 I get hit a second time for the same charge of $104.00 and this time it has been processed, a temporary credit was issued and was reversed on 11/30/2016 finding no fault on the part of your organization. Now mind you, this organization hit my account three times in a period of only seven days with each and every time I have not been notified. Suddenly I'm an ATM for Christine Rauch! I reiterate, I was NEVER notified by email, (or any other form for that matter) of any impending withdrawal. Closer examination of the documents forwarded to me from the banking institution had revealed that one of their staff had input my email address incorrectly as baherden@verizon.net instead of the correct address. Given that this can prove to be a most critical factor it would behoove Dr Rauch and her staff to confirm this information rather than take it for granted. Clearly this organization deserves to be paid, I don't take issue with that. I take issue with this organization being paid at the expense of cleaning out my bank account and leaving me with not so much as enough cash to buy gas in order to go to work the next morning. I am currently 68 years of age, (was 63 at the time of the procedure.) I have an advanced education in aviation, I am grossly underemployed as well as under paid. Since I do live paycheck to paycheck these people have absolutely no idea what it's like to have your checking account cleaned out and you have to knock on someone's door at five in the morning hoping to borrow $20.00 so you can get to work? It's coming to the point where it's no longer a service for a fee, it's all about sucking someone's bank account dry. It's beginning to feel like it's a contest to see who can empty my bank account first. I understand that Dr. Rauch's husband is an emergency room triage doctor. Everyone should be justly compensated for their knowledge and intelligence. Between the two of them I'm willing to wager that together they are knocking down half a million a year. It's really a shame that they have to resort to unscrupulous means to accomplish their wealth. Having worked as a trained and licensed aircraft mechanic were my associates and myself are required to maintain and fly aircraft, were the aviation field to be handled like this office has handled my account there would be a bunch of broken aircraft, a whole lot of dead people and someone would most certainly be going to jail. The medical treatment was excellent, the way I was treated on the business side of the house is absolutely deplorable. If I had to do it again and was diagnosed stage four cancer I would turn and walk the other way rather than to be subjected to this kind of abuse. Brings new meaning to the aged term, "A license to steal." Makes me wonder if a crime has been committed?
