I can't believe I'm just visiting this place!! LOVE good Colombian food and this one hits it right on the nail (is that even a phrase)? Anyway, came here on a weekday afternoon and wasn't busy at all- that's not to say that the food/bakery wasn't good. It was AMAZING. I got the lunch special which was chicken soup with breaded filet, salad and rice for $12.99. WHAT! And that portion was BIG as you can see from the pictures. Our server was attentive and got us whatever we needed almost right away! My breaded filet came out delicious. Perfect amount of crispy where it's not overdone and it wasn't drenched in any sauce that made the filet soggy. The house salad was simple yet flavorful and that chicken noodle soup was SO hearty that I wanted to go in the kitchen and scoop myself more. The place is big and bright and clean. Bakery on one side of the restaurant for quick take out and restaurant to the right. There's street parking but there's also parking in the back where the giant farmer market is, but it can be a busy lot. I came back here again with my husband another day and had another lunch special which was grilled chicken with mushroom sauce and my husband had a 16oz churrasco, all cooked to perfection. Okay so Bonanza is this super cute little Colombian Restaurant on Main Street in Hackensack. I never noticed it until a friend recommended recently. From sitting there and observing, the bakery is the most popular part of this restaurant. They have multiple cases full of these beautiful pastries and they can easily catch the eye. However, I think the star of this show was definitely the lunch options. The wings were to die for. A simple fried wing, but it was cooked to perfection! The Chicharrón was also phenomenal, just remember to ask for some lime on the side. The service did lack a little, as our server was not very attentive. But this didn't ruin our experience. Stumbled upon this place when I was in the area thanks to yelp. Great place to grab a quick bite or if you wanted to sit down as well. The restaurant has 2 entrances, one in the front and one in the back. However, the main entrance is on the Main Street. I believe they have parking in the rear. The place was nicely decorated, bring that modern vibe with a hint of greenery to make it feel as if you were outside. Large open dining room with a huge area to see their baked goods. Ordered a beef soup which came with salad. As I am chewing salad, I could literally hear something crack in my mouth. It was a CRACKED DISH PART! Called manager. She said nothing wrong with the kitchen. Just said sorry and walked away. Really? Hey manager, if that was your family chewing that dish in their mouth, will you be okay with the solution you have shown? The manager walked away and ignored me on my way out. My throat felt completely uncomfortable for hours after this experience. If I have swallowed it and ran into a bigger medical problems, this is a lawsuit. This is a very serious issue that local health department needs to do an inspection. These people working here have no idea of food safety. Watch out folks. I wanted to find a coffee/bakery spot to do some work after a late lunch and found this place through Yelp. After reviewing the pics and reviews, decided to give this place a shot. Once I entered I ordered the Pandebono and it was so good. I've only tried noches' Pandebono and this one was the best I've had so far. The place is very bright and not loud. This is a cute place with that is not as loud as some of the other Colombian restaurants you'll find although it seemed pretty busy. The staff is so nice and friendly and the food was pretty good with large portions that are really filling. You won't be disappointed. Oh my!!! I loved this place! We went for dinner. It is located literally a block down from another very famous large Columbian restaurant with a bar. But I was so glad to be introduced to Bonanza. The atmosphere was so calm, bright and happy and everything was so delicious. Not to mention....well okay I will, awesome bakery! Everything we ordered was perfect. Even the sides: beans, rice and salad were excellent and we finished every bit. We couldn't resist the bakery (always room for that!)I had an Alfajores (Dulce de Leche Cookie Sandwich) My dinner companion had a tres leches cake with caramel icing. (Doesn't that make it cuatro leches? So, so good. And let me mention that the young man who served us was kind and patient (I had a lot of questions). Absolutely never coming back here again. I ordered my coffee and upon drinking HALF OF IT, I realized there was a gigantic cockroach in it. This is absolutely disgusting and don't understand how they didn't realize there was a roach. Upon going back to confront them they said that's weird and "they don't have that kind of bug here". Does that mean they are aware of others and just don't care? Then proceeded to say they may be in the milk, as if that justifies it. I saw a photo of something called Postre De Gelatina and had to come here to try it. Well, they didn't have it but my disapointment led me to get a whole box of their other goodies. Pan Queso, Chicharron & Arepa, Pamdebono, shortbread cookies with coconut flakes & guava paste, Passion Fruit Cheesecake, Merengon, and Elephant Ear. It reminded me of those Sundays when I would get a box of pastries at the Italian bakery to bring to Grandma's house. It's lovely walking to a clean modernity lit industrial decorated restaurant. It's half bakery & half dining with fresh juices and smoothies. The menu is Colombian & has English translation. The complimentary bread is not pandebono but are these mini light sweet rolls, not a soft roll, dense but not dry. For appetizers we ordered the ceviche pescado which I felt the fish tasted fresh however it wasn't limey & needed some more salt & more flavor. It was a dish that we didn't want to take home. We also tried both beef & chicken empanadas which were toasty, generously filled and delicious... lots of plastic filled ketchup/mayo sauces and salsa were given to pair it with the empanadas. Besides waiting what seemed longer than 30mins for our entrees, our entrees weren't that spectacular. The fried red snapper came plainly fried with a side of rice and no seasoning or sauce. When we asked for sauce we were given more plastic filled sauces which does not go well with fried red snapper... eventually they brought a white sour cream-like or tartar sauce for it-- that should have been brought with the plate. My cousin wanted to order the calentado especial and asked if she could switch out the beans for fries since she isn't a fan for beans but it isn't possible the waiter said. But she kept the dish to its integrity and kept the order. It's actually a pretty simple dish, eggs to your liking, rice & beans and a link of chorizo. I got the sancocho de res soup which actually came out last in a large bowl. The corn cob was sweet and is a filling hearty soup with loads of potatoes and pieces of beef on bone. This place was a pleasant surprise. The decor is super comfy and beautiful. The staff is very nice, the only bad thing I guess is that they expect you to speak Spanish if you look Hispanic. My Spanish is very poor sadly, (trying to practice more) but I tried my best. The girl spoke to me in very fast Spanish I had to ask her to repeat herself. I love coffee and I am so sorry but I did not enjoy the coffee here, though I am glad that they offer a non dairy alternative. The pastry was the highlight. Omg it was delicious. I didn't sit down to dine. Just stopped in to grab a quick cup of coffee. I also got a hot chocolate for my daughter. Coffee was very good and service was good as well. The restaurant is very spacious and nicely decorated. It's a new restaurant so it's really nice and modern. It was pretty busy on a Saturday (late morning). I noticed a steady stream of people parking and going into the restaurant. I also tried their pandebono which was good as well. Now I definitely plan on returning to try the items in the bakery.
