bonavista manages Anker bellevue flats (Joshua Caile as property manager) and has severely and grossly failed to maintain the safety of this property. First of all management has allowed a dangerous criminal tenant on the 7th floor to aggressively terrorize other tenants by slamming, kicking, verbally threatening them. There are no cameras or security in the property past the lobby. Bonavista consciously leases units near this tenant aware of the danger and without disclaimer. They have also failed to maintain the physical safety of the property. Over the last months two insane instances stand out. The first is a literal window of the property fell off and slammed into the sidewalk throwing glass everywhere. luckily no one was walking there at the time because it would have killed them. Lastly management has allowed the only elevator to be out of service for over 3 weeks. If you had any sort of disability or injury you are forced to take the stairs. Management has not given any sort of estimated date for repairs. this company tragically mismanages their property and I wouldn't be surprised if their incompetence gets them on the news in the future. read more

I rented with Bonavista for almost two years, and it was overall fine. Mostly kept up the property. Communication, so-so. That is until upon move out they decided to pull the play the 'not entitled to get your security deposit back' game so now I have to take further action by serving them. Do they have cause to keep my deposit? No. In the lease, it specifically says that deposit may only be kept if the apartment is not left in the condition, it was before my tenancy. It was in fact left in that condition and I have before move-in and move out pictures showing this. They also claim that the deposit can be withheld for unpaid utilities. That's fine, but the funny thing is I never got any billing after I moved out for these utilities until months later, otherwise there'd be no need for them to do that. Now their integrity is shot and is clearly greed as they likely smile about it in their response emails to me. They're counting on me (and you) not pressing forward with the retaining of security deposits. Prove them wrong. You may avoid this by not renting from them. I do not recommend Bonavista Management, if you choose them. Be content with them keeping your deposit. read more

Worst Managment company for properties to hire or for employees to work at. They're shoddy managers who allow management to work on the clock on their own real estate deals stealing from the company and putting poor effort into their properties. They also have this weird culture in Managment where it's very cliquey. Would not recommend, no one stays for long and they're constantly transferring through properties. I've been a resident at Ondine Eastlake for a while now. When Bonavista managed the property, things were much smoother. However, after AGM took over in October, the situation has noticeably worsened. Despite the building's poor construction and the many issues as a result of it, I truly appreciate the responsiveness of Gerry and, especially, Terry from maintenance. Every maintenance request I've submitted has been promptly responded to. It's also reassuring to often see Gerry around the building--a stark contrast to the absence of any visible management from AGM. read more

This company will literally scam you; they sent me to collections for 4 months of rent after I moved out, which was after my lease ended. They claimed they didn't receive my move out notice despite multiple notices being sent into them, they never reached out to confirm that I was staying longer, and just charged me month to month for a 4-month period. When I notified them of this, they refused to drop the collection attempt and I have to take them to court because of it. AVOID AT ALL COST! On top of this, when I lived at the property for a year, they did not adhere to maintenance requests, financially threatened the tenants on multiple occasions. The fridge they had in my unit stopped working and they refused to replace it for weeks on end, and when they finally did, the replacement was covered in mold. Literally a sham company. This organisation is lacking in any standard of professionalism and integrity, I lived on one of their properties for over 10 months on 67th street, Seattle and experienced endless and brazen deceit by Bonavista, they intentionally faciliated an environment that perpetuated ongoing harassment; that harassment worsened evertime I complained about it, and intentionally, nothing was ever done. Having rented for over 20 years this is the worst tenant experience I have ever had. Having communicated with four different Bonavista managers, I can say Bonavista is beyond absolutely atrocious and straight out deceitful. I had a great experience with this management company. They were by the book. I'm surprised to see the horrible reviews. Only reason I'm Giving four stars is because they raised the rent. Other than that, I'd recommend them. And in regards to the review about roaches. You do know it's impossible to get rid of them if there's a dirty tenant in the building where they are coming from right? No matter how much they spray, if tenants give them something to feast on, it's over. They'd have to literally put the dirty tenant out to get rid of the roaches. That's why I feel it's a great idea to do monthly inspections. This way you can monitor the upkeep of property. You'd be surprised how many people renting act uncivilized, like they're living in a freaking cave. The damage that's left in some units upon move-out is unreal! I've seen it all. Anywho, I appreciate you Bonavista. I've seen & dealt with way worse management companies and you guys are by far, nowhere near what these companies are doing to tenants. If I could give this property management company a 0 star I would. This company is terrible. First of all, when you place a maintenance review no one gets back to you. Like at all. Almost every time I had to send an additional email seeing if they received my request or when to an expect someone to come-by and fix things. Also, when it's an emergency to have to call another number and a guy answers saying "hey I'm down in Tacoma and I can't come tonight. I just got home and am tired" when it's a flood with possible water damages and mold risks. Makes sense. Also, the management company's head "Mike" doesn't care about tenant safety. He refused to post signs like "smile you're on camera" for the safety of mind of the tenants even when asked. If your car or apartment gets broken into on their property, he'll likely just say "You live in one of the most crime-ridden cities in America. What do you expect?" like he did to me. Yeah, they might not be that effective but at $10+$40 labor to instal one (aka pay someone to nail a sign to a wall) it's worth the "risk" in my opinion. And the last SUPER professional thing you can expect of this company is that none of their property managers respond to any emails with any sort of haste. When I would ask about certain silly things like maintenance requests or let them know about aggressive homophobic neighbors in the same building, they just wouldn't respond. Instead of giving me direction on who to properly reach out to, they just simply ignore it. Meggie G was the BEST at that. Her leaving for maternity leave was the best thing that happened to us living at her property. If she's your manager, RUN. She's unprofessional and a joke. I'm pretty sure a root vegetable could do a better job of managing properties. Liz S was GREAT too. She likes to ignore calls when she sees your caller ID so make sure you call on a *67 or blocked number if you want to reach her for a concern or complaint. #protip. Also, Liz would schedule chimney cleanings when your unit doesn't have a chimney so there's that too. So yeah, bottom line is if you see that this company manages your apartment, don't rent it. They are unprofessional, don't care about tenant safety, are clueless, and simply unaware or unconcerned of anything but themselves. The only saving grace was the actual maintenance techs. They were always friendly and nice and took the time to explain things to us. Also, can we talk about how cringey and fake Mike B's "meet the staff" blurb on their site is? All this reciting of their customer service history and lack luster achievements trying desperately to make you believe they are compassionate and professional at their jobs. HA! read more

This company used to be MRN Properties (look them up, just do it) I believe they changed their business name to try to get rid of the association of that company. I will admit my experience with them as a tenant was better than with MRN, but still it was rough. They rarely answer phones, they want you to track them down via email, and then not return your emails for days later. The place I rented from them was a complete disaster that should have been knocked over. In my short time there we had mold growing on the walls and inside the walls, leaks all over, water dripping down the walls in the bedrooms causing our mattress to be ruined, old appliances breaking down left and right, water heater busting, the windows were so old they had cracks and holes big enough for bugs to crawl through (and they wouldn't repair), and wind blew right through them, faulty outlets all over, and then loads of more minor things. It should have been condemned. I would tell my whole story with them, but honestly nobody is going to read it because its way too long. Moral of my story is if you're thinking of renting from them and you think something might be a little off, then go with your gut and run off, like we should have. It's not worth it. read more

After living in Seattle for almost 20 years, The A.W. Larson is the best apartment I've lived in, and Bonavista is an excellent property management company. The process initially renting was very smooth, the unit is modern, and the building is meticulously maintained. Any maintenance issues we have encountered have been addressed promptly. The property manager is frequently on-site, extremely personable, and likes to make sure everyone feels welcome. Pet friendly, gym/common room(free k-cup coffee!)/roof deck w/bbq, close to many cool area restaurants, and Trader Joe's is right up the street. I only met Mike Bessenyey once, he seemed alright to me - AND I got to remain in a vertical, upright position during the entire interaction (unlike some previous reviewers had so CRUDELY suggested). After many years of living at my apartment home, this "team" took over, raised my rent by $400, giving me less then 30 days notice and displaced me, without honoring the prior management company's originally offered rent renewal.
