I have loved the food at Bonchon for years now, and even ate from different locations in NYC and NJ. I ordered from this one at Nutley recently, and it was just okay. I ordered a mix of spicy, and soy garlic chicken wings, and Bibimbap. The chicken did not seem to have enough sauce on them and the same for the beef in the bibimbap. My co workers ordered lunch from this location last week and I really enjoyed their super fresh wings and drums combinations with soy ginger flavors. Is was sooooo crispy, fresh and flavorable. I loved this place. Very clean inside. People very nice and helpful. It was my first time there. We had their boneless wings regular wings dumplings seasoned fries and fried rice. All so delicious. The chicken wings all crispy and delicious. The soy ginger sauce might be the best thing ever. Their hot sauce is pretty hot but delicious as well. Very good fried rice it was so fresh. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is the price. It came to $70 for wings three sides and drinks. Lil pricy. But if you go to this place you will become addicted. I love Korean fried chicken. I don't care that it's expensive because it's usually so good. Have had it at a lot of places including the Bonchon in K-town in NYC. The chicken at this Bonchon, however, while nice and crispy, was bland. Ordered the soy/garlic. There was no sweetness from the soy or any garlic flavor in the glaze at all. Could've used some salt on the chicken itself too. The seasoned fries was the only flavorful item I had (takoyaki balls were bland too).I guess I'm still driving to Teaneck for my Korean fried chicken cravings. (wait. there's a boom boom in Rutherford? Headed there next) Oh and the service experience wasn't good either. I walked into an empty restaurant to pick up my phoned-in order. Two workers behind the counter. One on the phone (with a customer I think) and the other just standing there. I could see a single bag of food on the counter behind them (obviously mine). I stood right in front of him but he ignored me in favor of speaking to an off-hours coworker who came in behind me and then searching for her charger in the slowest manner I've ever had the displeasure to watch while my lone bag of food was cooling on the counter behind him. So happy Bon Chon opened up in our neck of the woods! We always call ahead and always get a call when our order is ready. Service in person or on the phone is always friendly. Soy Garlic chicken combo is what I always order and there's no doubt that it is really good. Reason why I give this a 1 star is because of the long wait for orders. Just like today April 23, 2016, they opened at 11am. The cook is taking the order because the cashier and the owner are missing. I called around 11am and was told the my order is ready in 25 mins. Lo and behold, I walked in seeing the cook multi-tasking. Ended up my order came out 45 mins after. I'm only giving 1 star because I can't give a negative. Ok food doesn't negate terrible service. Ordered here about 5 times, always to go. Every time I get home my order is off. Usually just the side of radish or a sauce packet is missing but yesterday my order was messed up 100%. I got a boneless chicken with no sauce. Guess what, it had sauce on it. I ordered a bibimbop with no seeds. Guess what, it had all the quinoa seeds every produced in there AND they forgot my bibimbop sauce packet. Again no sides were given even though they come with the meal. When I went back to get my replacement order I asked if I could have an extra bibimbop sauce packet and they told me one per order. Really? What about the gas I used to come back? Pretty sure they just look at the order and think how can I f*ck this up. I will go to the Rutherford location from now on. This menu they put together was absolutely phenomenal it was so flavorful and an easy bite. They use their a pretty significant amount of their infamous sauce paired up with their yummy coleslaw. Seriously, the chicken is as good as people say. I've been to a few Bon Chon spots in Manhattan and this place is just as good. Everyone is correct in saying to call and place the order in advance. The spicy option is SPICY! My eyes tear up from the smell alone - admittedly, I am a spice weakling - but it is so delicious. The soy garlic is my favorite - mild and has an addictive sweetness. I crave this stuff! The chicken is so crispy, even for next day leftovers. If you are curious at all, please treat yourself to some Bon Chon chicken!! I've tried some of the entrees too and although they're good, I think they're a little more expensive then they should be or they need to add more meat if they keep charging that price. I just went there last night around like 7:30pm and had their 15 dollar beef plate with broccoli and their famous chicken wings. I can tell you that the spicy wings and drum sticks were delicious. The 15 dollar plate taste like pale nothingness and it actually made me upset to have ordered it considering the price. Ive been here once before and the chicken was pretty good. I was craving it and decided to return and i ordered their boneless wings and fried rice. I was so disappointed with my food and so was my friend with her food. The sauces on the chicken were pretty much non existent and then when i asked for more sauce on the side they said they couldnt do that. Im always hesitant to return my plate to the kitchen but I did and they put a little more sauce. but they were still dry! The rice was not good. it had so much red pepper and I feel like thats all i was eating. I took my food home and i felt like if i ate it later that i would like it better. nope! i had to throw it away. The food was expensive for what it was worth. I dont think ill return again unfortunately but i believe the kitchen should be a little more attentive to the food they are serving. read more

The frozen bubble teas are really delicious as well - pineapple and strawberry's my go to, lychee was alright. Have yet to try any other flavor teas and all the rest of the food. First off, bonchon chicken is good. We've had it several times but this is the first time we had it from Nutley, NJ. Our experience with this location is nothing but less than fair. We ordered ahead and were told it would take 50 minutes. I got to Bon chon 50 min after and was told 10 more min. There was a long line of people waiting for their orders and each one was told 10 more min. Well, 1.5 hrs later I finally got my order. In a nutshell a lot of the folks waiting were not pleased with the long wait. Granted this location has just opened but given that Bonchon is a well established 'restaurant' there's no excuse for long wait. I really wish the owner assess this issue and stop telling people it takes 45 min for each order where in fact it takes well over an hour especially during busy hours. This is not a 'do over' for us. read more
