I placed my order by phone at 8:22 PM and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. It's now 9:23 PM, and I'm still waiting. The truth is, the food is really good, which is exactly why I stayed and waited. However, time management is definitely not their strong suit. I pass this place on my way home from work and after working a pretty awful Sunday shift, I decided to stop here. We ordered garlic, chicken and skirt steak and all of it was delicious. The sides were good, too. Next time I know to leave more time. If I had it to do over again I think I would have ordered half an hour earlier at least. Why do we get 2 separate orders. We both got the chicken cube with chorizo and potatoes; I got mine with shrimp as well. It comes with a massive side of rice on the side. Portion sizes are huge! Honestly one plate can feed 2 and combos can feed 2-3. Pork ribs were amazing, flavor and cook were perfect. Beef ribs were cooked great but under seasoned, and the chicken was seasoned well but over cooked. Firepit made three stars by the skin of their .. chicken. First time customer and they let me down. Called and placed my order for pick up. I asked to see if they also had combo specials as many other BBQ places do and he said yes, "Chicken and Ribs." I thought great, ribs aren't too healthy but they're my favorite. I subsequently asked about the sides and decided on the rice with beans instead of the rice with french fries. Twenty minutes and $17 later, I get to my designated location to eat only to reveal two issues: 1) I received french fries, not the beans. I cannot tell you how annoying it is to know that I have to check my take out order before leaving the establishment (and will have to do so if I decide to give them another chance.) The fries were soggy and flavorless. 2) --now, this is may really be my fault-- I was surprised to have received beef ribs instead of pork ribs. I am avid BBQ eater and I've got to stay, usually it is by default when one uses the word "ribs" that it is understood to be pork ribs. Not at this establishment. Therefore, I recommend you clarify between this distinction while placing your order with Firepit. Overall the chicken was well seasoned and tasty. Wasn't overcooked as other reviews stated but it's clear that you are really rolling the dice at this place. I did enjoy the beef ribs and was glad they weren't overcooked. Ribs were a little pink in the middle, just the way I like it. For the price I paid and the portion size, they're not too competitive. I have paid less and received way more at other eateries. That means your treats won't be sitting in a warming oven all day. Chances are, it will be made to order or it will have been made shortly before you ordered it. We asked the nice gentleman behind the counter, baby backs or spare ribs? His answer? Baby backs but it would take 45 minutes to prepare. No worries, we had nowhere to be. We munched some perfectly grilled chorizo while we waited. The ribs were excellent. I did think they could have benefited from five to eight minutes less cooking time but they really were delicious. Loved the hot sauce. It's a thick concoction, not the usual watery stuff served in other establishments. It was particularly good on the fries which were freshly cut and fried. So my wife wasn't left out of our adventure, I brought home a to go order of grilled chicken, rice and beans. She loved every bite. Nothing was overly salty which pleased her no end. So today I went to fire pit in Kearny and usually they don't disappoint me; however tonight was very different. I ordered half a chicken with salad. I picked up my order and came home and realized there was feathers all on the wing of the chicken. It made me think whoever they get their chicken from did a horrible job at cleaning it. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and told them and they said they would change it for me. When I got home I realized all they did was take that piece out and cook the other chicken well done so I wouldn't see any other feathers that were left on instead of giving me a new piece of chicken like I asked. Fire Pit has not only the best bbq in the area, but the best delivery driver as well. We recently decided to order after coming home from a 2 week stay at the hospital with our son. He is 7, autistic and was diagnosed with epilepsy. He was suffering from seizures on a daily basis, requiring him to be hospitalized and having surgery. When we arrived home, we ordered Fire Pit since we were too tired to cook. Our delivery arrived and the driver who's name is Nuno, saw our son with bandages on his neck and chest area. He asked what had happened and we explained. He felt terrible for us and shared some very kind words with us and comforted us. He left to deliver more orders and called us a short time later and asked us if we could come outside. We did, and he was outside with a gift of die-cast toy cars for our little dude. We couldn't believe his generosity and how he went out of his way to make sure our little guy was happy. He put a smile on all our faces that day and made a tough situation so much better. Since then, we have ordered and he always takes the time to ask how our little guy is doing. We have never encountered a more caring delivery person. For the main meal I ordered steak with chimchurri and the grilled shrimp. When they first opened this place was great. Now it's hit or miss and it's mostly miss. The wait time is absolutely ridiculous. Having to wait over an hour for delivery is just bad business. On top of having to wait they now skimp on your orders. The prices have gone up while amount and quality of food has gone way down. This used to be one of my family's favorites and now I refuse to order from either of the two places in North Arlington. I'd prefer to order from Boa Vista in Kearny.
