The veterinary care my pets have received at Bond Vet in general and in Bethesda in particular has been adequate. Not fantastic but basically good. However, the last experience I had with the non-veterinary staff has been so bad that I am making the decision to stop taking my pets to Bond altogether. I called Bond Bethesda to ask for an extention of my diabetic cat's insulin prescription that was issued several months ago by a Bond veterinarian, who has since left. I spoke to an employee named Carl, who was unable to find the record of that prescription. I will repeat this, so it's clear : BOND CANNOT FIND ITS OWN RECORD OF ITS PATIENT'S INSULIN PRESCRIPTION. Carl insisted that since there's no record, the whole evaluation will have to start from scratch. I told him that I have a text message record of this prescription having been submitted to the pharmacy by the vet, and the pharmacy has a copy of this prescription on file. No, no, no: too much work and mental effort to find and restore the record, just bring the cat back and we'll start all over. I asked to speak to the manager. She has left for today but will call me tomorrow "first thing." She never called. Being "in a meeting" was one of the excuses given. Do they actually think these excuses are believable? I requested a call from someone above the Bethesda manager and got it two days later after multiple text messages and phone calls. . Bond Vet markets itself as a "primary and urgent" care facility. An urgent care facility that doesn't have a manager available during business hours? At either the local level or above? Really? When I asked Carl and later the helpline employee for the relevant contact info, neither had "access to it." Lovely! The so-called urgent clinic is open, seeing patients and charging fees reflecting its urgent care specialisation, but no one is available to resolve an urgent situation. One of the headquarters helpline employees said that in urgent situations "we advise you to go to the ER." She also said Bond employees "have their own lives to live" Really? All of them at once during the business hours? So much for the "urgent" aspect of Bond care. It's only urgent in the sense that its clinics have extended hours. If there's a problem to be solved, it will be handled on a very non-urgent basis. If at all. I will no longer give Bond any of my business. I will not be rewarding people whose attitudes, aptitudes, and behaviors I perceive as those of a bunch of unintelligent lazy crooks, or money grabbing hoodlums, who have no regard for the client or the patient. I will file a complaint and will ask the veterinary board to force them to restore my cat's records. Very unfortunate. Not very smart on their part. I also see that they have lots of complaints about their shananigans from other former clients. I will report my experience to the Better Business Bureau as well. read more

My dog has been going to Bond vet for a bit over a year. I cannot stress enough how happy I am with the service I receive there. The vet takes her time to address all of my concerns (and as someone who's always worried about their pup, there are usually quite a few). Backstory: We had an emergency situation where she had a cut on her paw and got surgery at another vet, she had stitches, which she then tore out. I was able to get to bond vet the same day. Ever since we've stuck to this vet. My dog isn't upset or anxious here. She really loves it. It is on the more expensive side for care, but I really love how thoroughly they go over everything, how easy it is to get an appointment, and the level of attention we get when we're there. Don't go here. The doctors are fine but the front desk staff make it a headache. I reordered a prescription for my dog and was unable to pick it up within a week because I had just had a baby. I called and they said they threw it out. I then reordered it and asked my mom to pick it up for me. The receptionist was incredibly rude to her and told her there were no meds. Only after screenshotting the confirmation email and sending it to my mom to show her, she changed her story. She never even apologized. read more

(I only realized the vaccination need when trying to book a kennel.) the online process was fairly simple and we received a first time 100.00 off which was a nice savings. The facility was spotless and modern looking. My dog is afraid of other dogs and I was relieved to see spaces for animals waiting for their meds. The staff was wonderful. The vet, Dr Chase Appleby, was very informative. Instructions from him were thorough and helpful. The pricing was discussed privately and before we agreed to any procedure. My first visits here were excellent. The doctor and staff were welcoming and kind, and they sought to make my puppy' as comfortable as possible. The doctor took her time and gave advice on a range of topics. That's why the three stars. But my recent visits have been more like the ones described by others with poor reviews -- in my last visit I waited 25 mins with no one saying a word until I asked about the delay; the front staff are less friendly than those I initially encountered; it's difficult to reach a live person because the phone system does its best to route you to through the online platform for every need and there are long hold times; and when you do use the online system for communication, they don't appear to read the notes. The result is that you show up for an appointment and they explain, unapologetically, that a nurse can't see your pet and instead you need a doctor's visit. Which will be later in the day, requiring a second trip. They couldn't call? I will look for a new practice. read more

I do not recommend this location. I arrived with my older cat who has a history of constipation and obstruction requiring enemas. I was very clear about my cat's history and that he was again constipated. I chose this location due to the good reviews and bc they advertise that they perform surgeries (including per their website: mass removals, orthopedics surgeries, soft tissue surgeries, etc.). I was told that scans, blood work, exam would be about $815 and then they can proceed to next steps according to the scans. They did not plan to perform any next steps though. After getting the scans and bloodwork and although my cat was in extreme discomfort I was referred to another site since Bond Vet were not comfortable treating him. The report then said that I was told before that I might need to go to another hospital and I was NOT told that. I would have appreciated if they had told me that. I paid the $815 and had to take my cat to a hospital for actual treatment. read more

VERY BAD. Vet was trying to swindle my by asking me to pay $1,200 for surgery and post op for a small cut on my dog's paw. I refused and was still charged $120 for offices visit for information that I already knew. Bondvet cheats clients as I visited my regular vet a few hours later and she said that surgery was not required and only charged my $150 for antibiotics and a cone. in fact, my appointment at Bondvet was moved up to 12 noon from 6pm as the vet on the phone had already made up her mind to suggest surgery for my dog without examining my dog. I just moved to the Bethesda Downtown area and was looking for a new veterinarian practice with convenient hours and a good reputation, I only had to look one block away to Bond Vet, they have been wonderful to work with and easy to schedule appointments with. The receptionists and technicians are always VERY friendly and VERY knowledgeable. I first loved Bond Vet because they offered great promotions & discounts and then realized that they were switching my visits to doctor visits that were double the cost per visit. They just schedule your upcoming appointments offering you a discount on the next visit which they do not apply and then charge your card for any changes needed etc.. Totally a no win situation where we are continuing to get charges on our bill. They spend barely any time with the pet then take my pet and i have to trust that they are doing the procedures they claim they are doing which I am starting to question bc my kitten was dewormed and medicine by them 3x and still has parasites I feel they werent really deworming the kittens in back and that how they make money getting you come back and testing and medicine to continue. How many times can your kitten continue to get albon and pancar medicine before its dangerous!!?? read more

Please DO NOT bring your pet here if they are seriously ill. I brought my cat here who was diagnosed with terminal SCC cancer (a very aggressive oral cancer). One vet thought it was cancer and got me an appointment to have a biopsy who confirmed it. They ordered oral morphine for him (buprenorphine) but since it had to be compounded it was delayed. Because of this, I brought him to Bond Vet on Monday at noon for a shot of painkiller which the vet on attendance gave him. This lasted 24 hours so we agreed he could get another shot 24 hours later. Fifteen minutes before the appointment the next day they called to say they couldn't give him a shot as he needed a proper vet appointment to confirm he was a candidate (he was already in the car at this point) - despite the vet the previous day leaving notes, him being diagnosed with aggressive oral cancer (they had received the report) and me explaining the compounding oral pain medicine got delayed. Given it was being injected into a cat who was in pain there was no chance it could have got misused. The liquid being sent to me via Fedex stood a much greater chance of being misused! I had to drive him miles to get him his medicine and he was put to sleep 24 hours later they said the pain was so severe. I will never forgive this vet for putting him through this. I had to drive him many miles to a different vet for a shot he should have got here while he was in incredible pain and I couldn't get him in until the next morning. Please don't bring any pet you care about deeply here. They advertise compassion but it is the last thing they really have. It's all about the money. I'm sure a vet appointment would bring in more cash than just a simple injection appointment with technician. read more

This company and Dr. Magowitz are the most amazing people out there! After a very unfortunate circumstance at our last vet, leaving me and my dog both never wanting another veterinary experience again, bond vet has made that all go away. I have a cattle dog that presents with aggression when taken to the vet, she usually takes an oral sedative (which doesn't usually work all the way) before coming in and is always muzzled. The staff were very understanding and grateful that we had taken the precautions necessary. They sedated her and were able to give her vaccines, run tests, and do a full physical examination. This is more than I can say for our previous vet! Dr. Magowitz has not only treated my dog that has behavioral issues and my brothers dog who also had behavioral issues. She is understanding and you can tell she really wants what is best for your dog! If your dog has any behavioral issues, or just any dog in general, go to bond vet. They are amazing! We had a terrible experience at Bond Vet, Bethesda. My dog recently needed 1 nail trimmed. As a long-time customer, I went to the clinic to ask if they could please trim the 1 nail for me as a courtesy. I was shocked when they refused and I was told they would - and did! - charge me $41 for trimming the 1 nail (a process that takes perhaps 15 seconds). I thought there had to be a mistake and I asked them to confirm with a manager. Nope, they doubled down telling me that it would be the $41. We are good customers who have spent many thousand of dollars at this practice. This level of customer service is appalling. read more

We had a great experience at Bond Vet in Bethesda. Our 10 month old puppy injured his leg. Our vet had no appointments, but wanted him seen. Bond filled a very needed role between regular vet and animal hospital. The staff and doctor were really great; super welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Our appointment time was honored and we were out of there within 30 minutes with the prescriptions we needed (no second stop). Very happy they have added a location in our area. I brought my dog, Cashew, in for a wellness checkup and overall evaluation. Dr. Owens was excellent, she exceeded expectations! She was great with Cashew and very thorough in her evaluation, you can tell she is passionate. She is incredibly knowledgeable and explained everything clearly and listened to all my concerns. I think the true mark of an exceptional doctor is having a collaborative approach and being open to the fact that clinical presentation is variable, and Dr. Owens does just that. When I was explaining cashew's history, I mentioned her food allergies- Dr. Owens said the presentation wasn't typical so she was surprised and would have to remember that. Someone who isn't arrogant and is always open to learning to help future patients is exactly the kind of doctor you want to take care of your pet. Constant turnover of vets and techs. Horrible "bedside manner." When I first went 6 months ago it was great, and close to home. The vet was friendly and got down on a floor to meet my dogs. Now, it's just a money making assembly line. Like all vets in Bethesda, North Bethesda or DC, it's expensive, but at least at my old (and now new) vet I got good customer service. I took my cat here for an upset tummy. It was so easy to book, and really happy to find a same-day appointment that I could book online. I had called around and had a hard time finding someone with an opening. The vet was incredibly kind and friendly, and really took her time with the exam and explaining treatment options. Dr Gordon at Bond Vet in Betheda is the best vet I have ever taking my cats to. He is compassionate, caring, kind and willing to spend as much time with you as needed. I had a terrible experience, as I had 2 cats die in less than a month. My cat James was under Dr. Gordon's care for arthritis and for weight loss. James died unexpectedly of a blood clot at Friendship Animal Hospital. My other cat Jesse died 3 weeks later of inoperable lymphoma. Jesse was originally a patient of Dr. Gordon's, but it was Dr Gordon who suggested I take Jesse to Friendship for an ultrasound because Bond didn't have the equipment to give an accurate diagnosis. Jess was diagnosed at Friendship but then I took him back to Dr Gordon for palliative treatment. Dr. Gordon supervised Jesse during that time and spent time with me explaining what could be done for Jess, and what could not. When it was obvious that Jesse's time was near, Dr Gordon made a terrible experience bearable for me and for my husband. It's obvious that Dr. Gordon is a "cat lover" and that made all the difference to us. He is obviously well trained in the diseases of cats and is quite willing to work with you to determine how best to proceed. I highly recommend Dr. Gordon to anyone who is looking for a highly skilled and competent vet, who also is kind and compassionate. He made a truly horrible experience bearable for me. He is by far the best vet I have ever had and I am grateful for all his help during what was a terrible time for us. read more
