Being naive about back surgeries we thought my husband was getting the best care he could. After the 2nd surgery failed miserably a friend suggested that we see Dr. Nicholas Shroeder at OSOC. Within minutes of meeting with us he explained clearly why the first two surgeries had failed. By this point my husband is in constant pain and can no longer stand up straight. Dr. Shroeder explained what he felt the best course of action was going to be for Tom's situation. Dr. Shroeder had the new pieces needed for Tom's back made specifically for him in France. The previous neurosurgeon had just grabbed any rods and screws within reach. That was what kept Tom from standing upright. The picture on the right shows the neurosurgeon placed straight rods in his back. Losing the natural curve is what kept him from ever standing straight and in excruciating pain. The picture on the left is what was needed to give Tom the ability to walk and have a good quality of life again. This shows the difference between an excellent surgeon and one who should never be allowed to practice medicine again. The day of the surgery was a very long one. Dr Shroeder performed the 14 hour surgery to correct the neurosurgeon's mess. He actually had to rebuild Tom's back vertebrae by vertebrae. There were a few appointments before the surgery and a few during the next year. It is a 3 hour drive each way for appointments/surgery. Both my husband and I feel that the drive back and forth saved his life. I do not say that lightly. It's been 6 years since his surgery at OSOC and we are so grateful to Dr. Shroeder and his wonderful staff, especially Liz. Their knowledge, patience, compassion and kindness is so appreciated.

This was my first visit, and I came in dealing with significant finger, hand, wrist, and elbow pain. Dr. Wiater was extremely attentive and took the time to truly listen to my concerns. He provided an injection, ordered a nerve study, and took me off work for a few weeks so I could properly heal. Once carpal tunnel syndrome was confirmed, he worked closely with both me and my employer to create a gradual return-to-work plan with appropriate restrictions. My pain and symptoms were never ignored. His PA, Claire, is also wonderful--compassionate, attentive, and great to work with. I am still healing from the steroid injection and will be starting physical therapy soon, but I feel confident in my care every step of the way. I highly recommend Dr. Wiater and his team. While I don't have any issues with him, this review is about the surgical center staff and location. Pre-op interactions over the phone were always positive. I called a couple times with questions and was always able to speak with someone instead of waiting for a call back. The people I spoke with were always very pleasant to speak with and never sounded like it was a hassle to have questions (like sometimes happen elsewhere). The 45 wait in the lobby/waiting room to be called back was a little long for my taste, but that is the only less than stellar part of my visit. The person at check-in was very nice, very fast and helped with my insurance questions. It was a little chilly, but medical places often are. They had a variety of seating arrangements, including sections of chairs, love seats and even a couple booths. At first we thought that was a little strange, but then realized it's a genius idea for people who may have brought a laptop or other things for a table surface. Once I was called back, everything went very smoothly. The nurse working with me in the room was awesome, the anesthesiologist was very nice and informative, the doctor came in and spoke with me, as well as the nurse who would be with me in the OR. They were very efficient, quick but never rushed, and informed me of everything that was going on throughout my visit. Wonderfully nice staff. Since my procedure was today I have yet to have the post-op experience, but I have no reason to think I will have any complaints. I will update if needed, but I highly doubt it will be. The overall complex was very nice, looked to be reasonably new. Very clean and convenient. The patient rooms were comfortable, with variable lighting, LCD TV, a small wardrobe for my clothes and a couple of chairs for the person with the patient. I mentioned the booths already and the front area also has a couple of larger TVs for those waiting. This was my first experience with a stand alone surgical facility and so far I have been very happy with my experience. I highly recommend this facility. Great job! Tip: If you are going here, it is the front suite in the complex, facing Rochester Rd. Depending on the time of day (lighting) it can be hard to see the sign right away.

There is no policy listed anywhere about only having one person with you; did we go back in time and it's 2020 again? My husband went to Dr. Khalil two years ago for a spinal fusion L1S4. After years of suffering pain…read moreand then nerve pain, he was fixed...100% fixed. Recovery took 6-8 weeks as expected but has been pain free since. During his recovery, I started experiencing hip pain. I learned is had a deteriorated SI (sacroiliac) joint. I treated it with steroid injections every 90 days for a year and a half which helped but never quite got me out of pain. We went back to Dr. Khalil and he was able to schedule me for a bilateral SI fusion where they bolt the two joint together from each side to avoid the unnecessary movement in the joint. Although fairly noninvasive, I was back to work in two weeks and now my pain is also 100% gone!!! Dr. Khalil is literally the best surgeon!!! We were both scared making surgery decisions and our only regret now is that we didn't do it sooner. His PA's are also amazing and helped with all our questions and help explain things in normal terms. If you are in pain, we would highly recommend him or at least consider him for a second opinion. He is not one to rush you into surgery which is hard to find these days but definitely the surgeon you want when the time comes!

Very upset by the treatment my Grandson received here yesterday, would not recommend. They did absolutely nothing. I would post a picture but it's far too graphic. I would rate them a ZERO if I could. During the appointment a second person came in and looked at his finger and told him maybe he'll be one of those people where the finger will grow back. Really? Then I guess we wouldn't need incompetent surgeons like those who my Grandson was referred to by the hospital.
