I used to frequent this spot back when I was always in Old City and I needed to load up on Nutro (I have since stopped since they were involved in that pet food recall). Sure, there are plenty of other pet boutiques that have sprung up around town in the last couple of years, but Bone Jour is one of the originals and still the best in my opinion. The inventory is carefully selected and the staff both knowledgable and helpful. They'll special order whatever you like if it's not in stock. I've moved out of Old City but when I used to live there, my pooch would drag me to Bone Jour and scratch on the door whenever we went anywhere near there on our walks. Small and jam-packed with fun like Gabby Douglas (I imagine). While things are definitely on the more $$ side, they have so much more cool higher quality toys, food, treats, leashes, etc. Among many other things that I purchased, my favorite was a dog biscuit in the shape of a philly cheesesteak for a dog I was visiting in Pittsburgh (oh and my friends who lives with this amazing dog). I recently adopted a little dog from one of the local rescues. The first few weeks have been a lot of hard work and new stresses both for me and for him. Thankfully, I live just a couple of blocks away from this gem of a store. The staff has always been so knowledgeable and helpful with all the issues of a new pet owner. I'm so grateful for their help. I'm also grateful for their slew of wonderful pet products. Though the store is small, they make great use of space and have nearly everything you could possibly need. And the curated collection of products are all top quality. No, it isn't cheap, but you're not buying cheap products either. Great little store filled with high quality pet food, treats, toys and apparel. The owner is probably the most knowledgable dog owner I've ever met. I went in for the first time with my dog last week, I had an emergency right before she was scheduled to get groomed and was able to talk to the owner and get my appointment moved. I'm a big fan of this Old City neighborhood shop. Bonejour has super friendly and helpful staff (unlike some other pet shops nearby). My dogs always sit outside the door and wait to go inside. I also like the fact that they house some shelter cats in hopes of adopting them out. All in all, its a great store and I recommend to others. read more

Since I reviewed last year, bonejour has become our local go-to pet store due to their expertise and high-quality products. They have healthy food and snacks made in the US --none of the cheap crappy stuff that's been harming (even killing) pets--so often in the past year. They are responsive, stand by their products, and good to my dog. We also use their grooming services, which are reasonably-priced, quick, and thorough. We do supplement with the occasional trip to pet smart as the store does not have the same size selection as a big, department-like store, but it's a great, local business we have come to patronize often... I just recently adopted my puppy from the PAWS shelter a few blocks away from Bonejour's location. I brought her in and the staff was incredibly sweet to my shy little girl. They gave her lots of treats and helped me figure everything out for her. She's now outfitted with a great harness and little hoodie for walks in this cold weather. They even have Dumps for Trump bags so I can pick up her poop with our current political disaster. We love Bonejour! read more

I went in for the first time today. The woman was very helpful and pleasant. I was simply looking for a covered litter box but they had several choices. They also had a lovely cat roaming around and a nice selection on canned cat foods. I was overall very impressed. A little pricey but not outrageous. I will go back. read more

There isn't a day that me and my dog walk past Bonejour without her pulling me to go in. Not only is it my pup's favorite spot in Philly, but I myself love stopping in whenever we get the chance to. The shop recently has changed owners and although we loved Noe, we really love the new owner Kim too. She knows us by name now and has always gone out of her way to really make sure we are happy with whatever it is we're looking for. The store always has something new for me to get my pup and if you can understand small business, you know that this place takes a lot of pride in their shop, service, and brand. The staff at Bonejour are always helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I've shopped there a handful of times and plan to return. They only carry high-end products that are non-toxic for pets, otherwise I wouldn't bother shopping there. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I have not yet tried their dog-bathing services, but I did ask if I could see, which they allowed, and I saw that it is very clean and organized. read more

This is a great little shop. Bought my dog a sweatshirt here at a great price. Also owner and sales assoc are very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I once took a chance and bought a bag of treats i was afraid my dog wouldn't like because he rarely eats dry treats and was told I could bring back if that were the case and she would use as free samples! Sure enough that's what happened and I exchanged for a toy. I was very pleased with the service! read more

Love this store! The owner is super pleasant and always happy to assist you with whatever you need. If they don't carry something you're looking for she offers to get it in for you. The woman at the front desk (I forget her name) was very friendly and helpful. They have things that are not expensive and great quality. I got a moose knuckle for my pit bull who shreds everything and after month of use it is still going strong. bone jour was the first little store i was excited about when i first moved to 3rd st. i loved that they carried puppia harnesses (my guy's favorite) and that they had a pretty wide range of toys and healthy treats for my pup. they girl working was really friendly and helpful when i went in, and we were soon chatting like old friends. i also love that their logo is a frenchie, because one has stolen my heart. read more

Apparently they close 6 minutes before 7, so that's pretty lame. I ran there from work and the lady in the store wouldn't open the door and signaled that they were closed even though their sign and website say they are open until 7pm. I like this shop because they carry not only nutritious foods for dogs but they also have a wide cat food selection. We LOVE this neighborhood dog store. Though not as much as our dog - it is impossible to take him for a walk without him dragging us straight to Bonejour's front door! Its a sad sight when they are closed as he will insist on sitting on their step waiting for the door to open :-) They have a friendly and helpful staff and we can always find what we need there. read more

I just moved to Olde City from South Philadelphia and I have a dog and a cat. I'm used to shopping in Doggie Style on Passyunk Avenue, but to my disappointment, Bonejour's prices were considerably more expensive. I paid thirty cents more per can on cat food; and three dollars more per bag of dog food. And their inferior selection of toys is way too pricey. I will never shop there again. I'm so happy I found the Doggie Style on 3rd and Market. My dog; Rex is so happy to be back at Doggie Style! read more
