Aiden B groomed my Yorkipoo, Dusty, today and he was perfect! Dusty can be a lot- he is still a puppy, has extra puppy energy, and he hates getting his nails trimmed or getting baths. Also hates brushing. So basically hates everything grooming except for the socializing-with-people part. He came back so soft, his cut was excellent and we can't wait to book again with Aiden! You can go in to PLAY with the dogs! Such a wonderful idea in helping these adorable goobers become adopted for those interested! Omg, what angels they are! This place is great for anyone, even if you can't adopt a dog at the moment (just like me!) but I just LOVE dogs. So anytime I'm around, I will always stop by and go into the two window rooms to play with them. You do an awesome thing by giving them the love they long for, and in return they share the same affection and love back to you :) I look forward to when I can adopt now! I am a sucker for pet stores. As a doting dog mom, if I am passing a store, it is a requirement for me to at least stop in and check it out. And I am so glad that we found Doggie Style Pets and did just that. A few months before moving to Philly, we meandered past this location and decided to check it out. After all, at the time we knew we may be moving here so needed to scope things out for the fur baby. They have a great selection of pup apparel - and have pretty much everything else that a doting dog mom may need (and more). The staff is always nice and helpful too which make us more than willing to return to this location or visit other locations (which thankfully, we live near another one too so our pet needs are always being met). It is clear that they do their research. They seem to select high-quality goods - having a number of the higher end brands that we are more comfortable feeding the little one. In addition to food and other supplies, they have a number of services as well that I cannot vouch for, making this a one-stop shop so to speak. Great selection of dog supplies & treats in Old City! From Dec. 26-28, we stayed at the Kimpton Monaco Hotel with our miniature poodle (Lily). I walked by Doggie Style while exploring the neighborhood and picked up 5 dog treats (Christmas cookies) on the way back to the hotel. Lily really enjoyed the cookies. Staff were friendly. I would recommend stopping by for supplies or treats in you're visiting Philly with a dog. read more

We asked if there were any restrictions and they said no... but you have to keep the dogs calm 30 days after the treatment or they could die... Then they later said that they got misinformation from the vet and the heart worms were worse than they thought. This is NOT TRUE because I called the ANIMAL HOSPITAL Frida was treated at ****ANIMAL HOSPITAL INFO WAS GIVEN TO ME BY THE STAFF**** in South Carolina myself and they said they were not severe. read more

I discovered this place through a friend. I came here because I heard you can play with the dogs that are waiting to be adopted! They had 2 dogs separated into their own "room" which can be seen through a glass window outside the shop. I signed a waiver and played with one of their dogs. Luckily, the one I met had already been adopted. The employee there told me they adopt out dogs every 1-2 weeks. I had a great time just chilling with one of the sweetest dogs I'd ever met! Overall, the store was neat and well decorated with doggy treats and toys. They even had cute little cookie treats that looked hand made. I will definitely be coming back again soon! read more

This review is specifically regarding the daycare services at The Lounge. My dog has been there about five or six times, one of which was a positive experience and I received pictures. The rest have all been horrible experiences and are seemingly getting worse. The morning staff is always great for drop offs but the afternoon staff is extremely unprofessional and rude. I have never received pictures again and they're not reading care instructions I took the time to write. Plus my dog has come home smelling urine soaked every time. That's certainly not the way I drop him off. Then yesterday the dog came home having horrendous GI issues which leads me to believe they were feeding him things he's allergic to. His allergies are clearly stated in his care instructions so they're either not reading them or just ignoring them. Either way it's unacceptable. With so many alternative options close by, I am never taking my dog for daycare here again and don't recommend anyone else does either. read more

Usually a great experience at this store. Today, not so much. I came in to purchase some dog food and a toy and the toy rang up $4 higher than the price on the tag. I questioned it once I saw the receipt and they told me that was the price according to the SKU. Weird since I have purchased this toy twice before at the lower price. Maybe I'm driving the demand up? Unlikely. The salesperson said he had no idea how to refund my money and offered some dog food samples as compensation because he felt bad. I'd prefer they put that energy into properly training their sales staff on the register. Not his fault, he was nice but why set your staff up to fail? read more

I've been bringing my puppy to the daycare/lounge here for several months and so far it's been great. The employees are super friendly and I can tell my dog loves them. She's never had an incident with another dog while under their care (knock on wood), and I think that reflects well on the supervision. She's also always tired when I pick her up (which is saying a lot for a 10-month-old pup). I do wish they opened a bit earlier (like 7 or 7:15) and sent photos with more consistency, but other than that, I have no complaints. Thanks Doggie Style! read more

I took my Special Fella here for a trim and came away underwhelmed at first, then outright disappointed, when it became clear that in addition to the strange cut he got, wherein they cut-off his beard and mustache, leaving him with a peculiar bird-like appearance, there was also a grave noticeable omission. There are certain service experiences that excel by dint of anticipating your needs such that you don't have to ask for things. Think of a waiter bringing you new silverware before your entree arrives. This is good. Then there's service that goes so far beyond this that you never even knew you had the need to begin with so seamless was there predictive execution. Such was my old dog groomer, Stuart of Russian Hill Dog Groomer's in San Francisco, who, though I never knew it, consistently milked my dog's anal glands. (If you've never heard of this, look it up on YouTube and steel yourself for the ultimate gross-out.) In any case, it was a terrible discovery indeed that Doggie Style neglected this vital component of high-end dog grooming, when my dog's ass started stinking like rotting meat a few weeks after the visit to the groomers. I was then forced to don surgical gloves and take care of this nasty business myself, which sort of moots the point of taking my dog to the groomer and paying someone else to do this. I really like this place. I buy our miniature pinscher's food here. Generally, I can't find Innova or Nature's Variety frozen diets so easily at the larger chain shops. Plus we also picked up a eally huge, great quality microfiber bed here for our doberman. The people who work here are really helpful and kind. They also let me special order larger quantities of things if I need it (like 5lb packages of joint supplement!) I also find that their prices (on exact same items) are much lower in comparison to some other pet boutiques, notably Bonejour. read more

The girls at Doggie Style ROCK! They are friendly, energetic and know what to recommend. They greet me and my sweet American Bulldog Nyla the second we walk through the door and knew our names after just a couple visits! They remember what Nyla likes and come around the counter to give her treats all the time! Doggies Style Old City carries a great selection of food, treats, beds, toys, leashes, and more! I can't tell you how many different collars Nyla has...just because they are all so cute! (pink argyle harness is her current fav!) We've always had such good experiences with groomers here. But the management lately has been absolutely terrible. Three of the four last grooming appointments have been cancelled. The first was a staff emergency; understood, but still difficult an hour before the appointment. The second was for unknown reasons and I had to reschedule. Today I took my dog in for his appointment and they had no record of his appointment, even though I had my email confirmation of his appointment that came from their system. We've also seen 4 different groomers in our last 4-5 visits - why such a revolving door? read more

They do have a large selection of about everything, especially toys and miscellaneous grooming items. The staff are always friendly as well. I can't say that I have gotten the vibe that all the staff there are knowledgeable. I've been here many times, and I've gotten that feeling when I can't get an answer a question. Last time, one of their up-for-adoption dogs pooped in the window showcase. The dog promptly started to eat it, and the staff member lightly reprimanded the dog, and told me it was "instinct". Is it? I'm not an expert, but in my opinion it's a "learned" behavior. Anyway, I understand it is tough because they have a new dog every week, the history isn't well known, not enough time to teach them anything, etc. Shoved that thought aside, I came to the register to pay for something I picked up. The staff member scooped the poop, but I guess it was in a trash can behind the register? The smell was pretty bad. I expected them to maybe at least bag it twice if they were going to dispose of it at a high-traffic area? The smell was so bad that I thought my dog had pooped in the store. Anyway, I know it's not easy dealing with animals, so I'm not giving them a 1-star review. I own a dog walking business in the area so I am always dropping dogs off and picking them up from grooming and the dogs are always very happy! This is a very cute pet boutique located on Market in Old City. Out front of the shop, they have cute cats, usually asleep in the window display. These kitties are waiting for adoption so if you're looking for a cat, go check this place out. They seem to be a little bit older but definitely still lovable. The interior is fairly small, but they'll definitely have most of what you'll need. The owner works there and she's very friendly so if you can't find something, make sure to ask. Also, the owner's cat is usually chilling in the store too, also asleep. This place is great as your neighborhood pet store. If you go often enough, they'll remember you. Everybody is really friendly here and the prices aren't too expensive. it's fun to hit up if you're in the mood to pamper your pet. read more

Thanks for the recommend on this one, Catherine. The location listed is not the one I actually went to. Mine is on Passyunk just past Moore St. The staff are knowledgable and professional. My dog smelled like a flower when he was done, and he even got a full body massage! Wow! I also received some excellent recommendations for food and dog treats that help prevent hip problems--always a worry with terrier breeds. Overall a pleasant experience. I would give them bonus points for speed, but I usually like them to take awhile so I can get other things done. Shame on me. They have an extensive selection of leashes and accessories so you can walk to the park in style. read more

When we are in Philadelphia we always like to walk by here to check out the adorable cats in the window! Soo cute and just having the cats in the window makes the stars rocket up. I would love to take them all home! The inside of this place is relatively small but cute - reminds me very much of PetMac in Arlington. They have all sorts of unique and standard toys, food, litter, beds, feeding supplies etc. They also have little trinkets and gifts for pet owners like magnets and T-shirts. Love the store, love the name and especially love the window cats! For pet lovers this is a great place to stop by in Philadelphia. read more

Best daycare in the city! We have a VERY high energy pup and she comes back absolutely exhausted (in a good way) every time. She loves daycare and cries when she can't go. The staff has always been knowledgeable and kind and their rates are very reasonable. Many dogs in the Old City neighborhood go to this daycare which is also fun because the dogs are already friends and run up to each other on the street. Our dog loves going to daycare here, even with covid my fiance and I are work from home but still put her in once a week so she can play with her friends. My girlfriend and I love coming here to see and play with the dogs that are out front. You can go sign in and that allows you to go into the rooms to play with the dogs that are up for adoption. There are 2 separate rooms so there's only 2 dogs you can see when you visit, but the dogs there are so friendly. They also have tons of supplies that any dog owner would need to make sure their dog gets the best. However, my girlfriend and I usually just go to see and play with the dogs because we hope to adopt one ourselves in the future! read more

I come here fairly often. It's a small store location, but they still have everything that pet owners would ever need! I used to come here only to see the dogs that chill outside in front of the windows, but now I come to see their fellow black cat and buy things for my new puppy! They workers there are sincere and helpful, each one I meet have a great personality for customer service. I also like how it's on my way to work and the gym, so convenient! I'd like to start by saying they have an excellent selection of dog/cat toys that you wouldn't find anyplace else. But, once you move past that, it's not so great. Several times I've walked through the door, I got completely snubbed. The old manager at the Old City store was super friendly and very knowledgable on the products. She would alway say hi to me and my pooches. Now its very different. On one visit, I needed help finding a certain dog food. The girl pointed to the back of the store and walked away. I feel like the staff could be much friendlier and more helpful. There are other pet stores in the area whose staff is friendlier and much more willing to help. I would not go here for grooming unless your dog requires a simple wash. I have a Maltese who needed a tear stain removal, nails cut, wash and blow dry and trim. He went in cute and scruffy and came out with an uneven scissor cut and tear stains. They don't have the products for removal. He smelled like the dog park not like a fresh bath. The groomer was nice and kind but that's about it. I was bummed because when I specified what he needed she seemed to understand but judging by her skills it didn't look that way. They have a good toy selection but clothing wise only larger sizes. Back to searching for a groomer who can do smaller dogs.... read more
