Oh yeah, this is one f*cking awesome food truck!…read more Today I sampled both the southern-style chicken and slaw bun with pickles, onion rings and ranch, as well as the Texas pulled pork and slaw bun with BBQ corn and BB pickles. (both $9) In a word? YUM-AZING. To top it off, they have *cherry* Dr. Pepper in the fridge. These guys literally cannot get any damn better! The truck shows up in various spots around the CBD for lunchtime, so check their FB page for where they're going to be on a given day. They usually announce it the night before, along with the menu items they'll be serving.

There's usually only 2 or 3 choices served each time the Van is on the road. You get to choose from some of the following tasty treats: Toasted Rueben, Texas Pulled Pork Roll, Pastrami on Rye, Cajun Prawn Po Boy, Beef Debris Po Boy, Philly Cheese Steak, Southern Fried Chicken Bun or even a Salad and of course the always present Deep Fried Pickles The home made Slaw is an excellent add on the great tasting meats used and even a BBQ Corn Cob that comes with the Pulled Pork Roll adds an extra something. The flavours are just great and at a decent price. To top it all off the owner/staff in the Van are great, going out of their way to remember their regulars. a real nice touch.

I am a fan of eNuf burgers, they are more than eNuf! ;) hah hah what a pun!…read moreI have been to this burger joint many times and I am so un-adventurous that I get the same burger every time, the eNuf burger. My logic is that if it's good, why risk trying another?? I love the fact you can choose what type of bun you want - I always get damper. The chips are crispy but soft inside (yum!) and the onion rings are uhhh-mazing! I've never had a bad burger experience at eNuf, however my other-half has had a dry patty before and didn't love it. There are tables to sit an eat at, with your burger served on the fashionable wooden board or you can also get takeaway. If you fancy something different, they do a monthly special burger so for example this month it was a roast lamb with mint jelly! One downside is the lack of parking available and sometimes the tables look like they haven't been wiped in a while. The burgers are great though!

I went…read morewith a larger group and found it's energy exciting, but as a native of New Orleans (born and raised) not true to its name or particularly authentic. First of all, whiskey is native to the bluegrass state (KENTUCKY) and though whiskey is 'the drink' of the moment it's time too shall pass... Since the 1700s New Orleans is and has always been a rum city, but hey, why be bothered with the details or with authenticity, right? I mean who cares that the iconic poboy sandwich is supposed to be served on a French baguette (which could likely be sourced from another local biz just around the corner -Le Carpe Diem, Grenfell Street) when you could use a (possibly cheaper?) inferior Vietnamese roll? Back to the food: we sampled the fried chicken which was a very small serve for the price and it was accompanied by a mayonnaise 'sauce' - why is it needed? Is there bread to make a sandwich?!? Um, no. So, I gave it a go and found the sauce bland, tasteless, and utterly unnecessary. It's mayonnaise! With nothing else. Fried chicken in the States doesn't ever come with a sauce! Ever. Back to the chicken, it had a delightful crunch and was reasonably well seasoned but far too greasy. If served with grease glistening then it should sit on a piece of bread to soak up the oil OR should be blotted with paper. Not good. Next we had the Marlin tartar which was one of the few unique and creative takes on NOLA cuisine; it was presented on a crisp much like a Zapps' Potato Chip (for Western Hemi folks). This is something I can recommend without reservation. Then we sampled the rabbit stew - very, very tasty with just enough seasoning, however too much rice and not enough rabbit. One last thing, it is a total and complete sacrilege to have a Mardi Gras party on the first Friday of Lent. Pure and simple commercialization. If you can't do it on Shrove Tuesday, just give it up!

Every time I see their truck out, I get all high school girl excited. There is something about a business like this. I think what really captures me is when you meet a owner that is just so passionate about what they do. There is so much thought, attention to detail and expertise here. From cooking methods to their business style. It just reflects how cool they are as individuals, and something I really want to support and share. Oh yeah, their food is beyond good as well! After counting down the hours until this restaurant opened it's doors, we finally made it inside the restaurant. It's dark, comfy and just so much fun! There are all sorts of cool critters and artistic elements. Just go see it for yourself. I should point out, it features some booths too, so great for groups. I had the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich. Oh yeah baby! Crispy, tasty, juicy chicken which is cut through with come fresh slaw. You can order this with fries on the side, but we opted for cheesy fries! So glad we did! These fries were covered in home made cheese sauce and crumbled cheesy bits, I kind of just wanted to put my face into the bowl and chew. Oh, I also had a bite or two of the Cheese Steak Philly. Well, well, well... God in sandwich form? But beware, this is a hefty meal. Be prepared to feel overwhelmed with amazing flavour and cheesy goodness. It is definitely not for the faint hearted or those watching the their waistline. It is amazing though and I really do recommend trying it. Ok, so let's just say this, get down there now before you have to wait in a line. This place is going get popular real fast. Bring your friends, family and neighbours. Everyone has to have a sneaky pickle experience!

The interior design is unique and follows trend with the rest of the exposed brick, high metal stools, wooden floorboard, crates behind the bar look that most bars are going for now days. But the black and white theme, fake grass and bi-fold windows opening out onto Flinders St, had me at hello. The wine list is impressive and there isn't a bad list of boutique brews, but nothing game changing. Today we ordered: Garfish with chips and salad for $16.50 - good value if done right (unfortunately the fish was rubbery, chips undercooked and the aoili was the highlight) Chicken caesar wrap for $9.50 - bargain but too oily, soft chips and lacking in a salad filling. Bar service is incredibly friendly and efficient however we waited over 20 minutes for our meals to come out at lunch when it was reasonably quiet. Add on to that the fact that at this stage no food is available from 7am-12pm or 3-5pm and I feel the concept of turning an old Milk Bar concept into a cool bar, restaurant has lost the essence of the need for "convenience." This place is in it's 1st week of operation and I'm definitely going to give it a go in a couple of months to see how things iron out because as Liz A said, Flinders St needs a bit more hipness and booze injected into it and these guys could just do it!

The service & product I received from this quick transaction has firmly secured it as NOT one of those future places. Myself and my colleague walked in and stood at the bar waiting for what appeared to be The Manager and a Staff Member having an altercation. Something small but a conversation that should not be had in front of customers, let alone a conversation to keep customers waiting. Once their "chat" was over, we did not even receive a "hi" or a "hello" or a "sorry about that" but a very cold "what can I get you?" I ordered a "take away double shot espresso" and was met with the blankest of blank stares. I felt like I had just spoken in Chinese. I repeated myself but changed it up a little "an espresso but with an extra shot" more blank stares. Eventually she quizzically asked "is that a short black?" I responded, "yes, but with two shots of coffee instead of one". No apology or acknowledgement or for the confusion just a "that's $4.50" I handed over my money and my colleague then ordered - a "large take away latte" and received the same response "that's $4.50" she too paid her money. After a few seconds I asked, "sorry, I just want to double check, should have our coffees been the same price?" I felt like because of the earlier confusion perhaps I had been over-charged. Because surely, how can 2 shots of coffee with no milk & 2 shots of coffee with a large amount of milk cost the same? Who I assume was "The Manager" chimed in with "Well they both have 2 shots of coffee so yeah they are the same price" Call me crazy, but milk is not free right? I made a comment along the lines of "ohh ok, that's interesting" "The manager" then shot back "well that's the cost" I apologised and said "I'm sorry, I was just a little confused, we normally go to a place across the street (every single day!) and I get the same order for $3.20. We thought we would pop in to give you guys a try and I just thought it was unusual for both of our orders to cost the same, despite the large amount of milk" The Manager flatly replied "well your lucky to get that across the street then aren't you" He then very condescendingly showed me the take-away cup with the two shots of coffee in it and said "that's what you wanted right?" I felt embarrassed, belittled, undervalued & miss-understood throughout the entire transaction. And to top off the experience, the coffee itself was full of coffee grounds. They missed an opportunity to gain a very regular and repeat customer.
