The Trucker Burger. With apologies to R. Crumb, "Keep on truckin'"
    John D.

Went in to resolve the question-what's better: A Double-Double from In-and-Out in the USA or a Trucker Burger at Burgastronomy in Adelaide? We decided to go to Burgastronomy in North Adelaide because all the restaurants around us were closed on a Sunday evening in downtown Adelaide-the Fringe be damned. So we hopped into the car and made a dash to North Adelaide, where you can almost always find several options for chow. We were in two groups, and when the first of us arrived we had the place almost to ourselves (an uncommon occurrence, as they are usually packed when we drive by). Although this is an order-at-the-counter establishment, we we were greeted by the staff who gave us some recommendations on the bottled cider and the burgers. We said we were waiting for someone and just wanted ciders to start-they suggested getting some sweet potato chips (fries) while we waited. That turned out to be a great suggestion. We finally got around to ordering, and after a short wait our beautiful burgers were delivered. The Trucker Burger includes egg and bacon. The egg was fried to perfection, gently oozing yolk at the first bite. The burger was large, but well prepared. Unlike some "gourmet" burgers where the meat is more like a meatball than a patty, the Burgastronomy burgers have a nicely shaped patty so you can eat the sandwich without dislocating your jaw in the process. So was the Trucker Burger better than a Double-Double from In-and-Out in the USA? Hard to say--they are so different in concept. But, there is no doubt that the Trucker Burger is a great sandwich--probably the best burger I've had in Adelaide. And you can't get a cider with your burger at In-and-Out! Combine great burgers with their friendly, cheerful service and you've got a winning combination. This place goes on the JD recommended list. Remember, eat drink and be merry, but not too much. JD

This place certainly has most of my heart with the taste and quality of food BUT when I have to compare the burger to, what is a clear 10/10 from Burger Theory, I was left disappointed, only slightly. SIGNATURE BURGER (added bacon) These babies are quite big. You get a plain big sesame seed bun. Which I felt was like the kind you buy at Coles/Woolies. It's hard to say I like it when I prefer the brioche style variety. The meat was beautifully juicy but lacked any charred flavour or seasoning, very bland. This made my burger sloppy when mixed with the mayonnaise and tomato sauce. Speaking of the tomato sauce, this also didn't get my tastebuds singing. It was almost like a napolitana pasta sauce. Here is where the place redeemed itself. SWEET POTATO FRIES ohh you sweet delectable crunchy little flavoursome morsels!! I've had sweet potato fries before but these bad boys just rock my socks off. They were slightly oily but i didnt care! Superb flavour and crunch and with powers combined (dipping in to the zingy mayo and chipotle BBQ sauce), wow. Wow. Wow! JALAPEÑO POPPER I finally got to pop my jalapeño popper cherry and boy oh boy was I wondering why it took so long! I scoffed this fried little gem down. It was more-ish and wish I had bought more than one. Would I return? I may try other places first but if I was in area I might try them again.

Well can't say I was terribly impressed it was all fine but my taste buds didn't do a happy dance or anything special. I had the chicken burger and sweet potato fries which FYI was way too much food. I think it would taste better at 3am after booze. Completely adequate, just nothing to write home about in my humble opinion.

what can I say but DAMN GOOD BURGERS The burger is perfectly cooked. the fillings, not a lot of choices but there's more than enough for all. Onion rings, Yes, Sweet Potato fries, Yes.. GO for it.

Great burger and fries were received on my uber eats order. The fries were still crunchy even after a 10 minute drive

The hot burger with "Xtra Hot" sauce.

Visited Burgastronomy without a firm idea of what I was in for. First impressions were that this isn't as professional a setup as Nordburger/burger foundry etc. The art on the wall is a bit tacky but the furniture was typical burger joint. I ordered the hot burger with chips and after being told that it would be 9/10 heat, opted for the xtra hot sauce... So I was expecting to struggle eating it and possibly regret my decision half way through. Before I get to the heat rating I'll give the burger a going over. The bun was your typical brioche that collapses half way through if you're not careful, but still nice - think Nordburger, burger republic etc etc. Meat was medium which was nice. Everything else was fresh, but nothing too interesting or unusual. Back to the chili. So they use a chipotle sauce which I have a very similar sauce to at home that I bought from chili mojo and it's rated 5/10. This sauce had a touch more heat than that, so as far as heat rating goes, I'd say 6/10 max. Was a little disappointed to be honest, but I know everyone has different ratings. It would be good to have an "ultra hot" burger or something that is a challenge to eat. Also, I'm not even that tough when it comes to chili. My 9/10 sauce at home absolutely knocks me on my arse so if they had a real chili fiend come in and order their Xtra hot burger, they would be laughed at.

Not exactly a cheap lunch option $19 for a burger, chips and a bottle of water. That being said the chips were nice and crunchy and good and the burger was excellent. The bun was more like damper than an regular bun - very soft and tasty and the meat patty was very good. They also have a vegi burger for those who are so inclined.

A cute little burger joint. Unassuming with a few stools around the store. Dine in or take away options are available. The burgers are quite large especially the patties, but excellent value for money. The fillings are piled high and fresh so it can get a little messy when you are eating but well worth it. There are also plenty of sides to accompany your meals. I highly recommend the corn fritters and the sweet potato fries. There are also a selection of condiments, which the staff are more than happy to help you pick one if you are indecisive like me. Also Burgastronmy is fully licensed, so you can enjoy a variety of beverages with your burger.

The "trucker" - beef patty with lettuce, caramelised onion, egg, bacon, cheese, sauce & a bit of mayo. YUM!

Cute little place, perfect amount of seating, good prices, I decided I was epicly hungry, so I ordered the Berenburger, which was a beef patty, beetroot, egg, bacon and heck knows what other goodness but it was huge, I need spice so added chipotle to my burger. Sweet potato fries with aioli always a must anywhere on the side... Then my epic burger arrived, half way through eating it I realised the chipotle chilli's were actually sundried chipotles, they were the tastiest mini mouth explosion ever. It made the whole burger. The meat was not over cooked, no gristle, no junk, it was smooth and full of flavour. The only reason i removed one star is because when a franchise or a business has another location the other location should match in quality and a week after visiting this site i needed my hit and went to the Magill one and things just weren't the same. Final note: If there is a chilli option, no matter what it is, hot sauce, chilli's whatever, always opt to add it!

I got the mushroom burger with a fat juicy panko-crumbed portabello advertised ($8.70). When it arrived I was surprised as to how small the burger was. It was delicious but I was left wanting more! My partner I think ordered the cheeseburger ($8.70) and again it was a small serving. considering the price we paid we were expecting a lot more size-wise Our Royale fries were messed up, we were given a basket of chilli cheese fries, then the Royal Fries came out - we only paid for one basket and I was afraid someone missed out. The cheese tasted super processed, floury and we couldnt eat them, they were not pleasurable at all. Note that the cheese makes the fries soggy and you have to eat them with a fork. Less cheese would be more, perhaps? I heard the new store on Glen Osmond road is a lot better, but a little out of our way to try. Make the burgers bigger and we'd be happier!

I added cheese, beetroot and egg for $1.50 each, because I love me some egg and beet root on a burger! My boyfriend ordered the Special of the Week which was the Tradie Burger. Heaven in my mouth. The buns are soft and fresh, the meat juicy, the flavours fantastic and the fries golden. I love soft, squishy burgers and these hit the spot. Served on wooden boards with a side of fries ($3.50 extra) the serving size was pretty generous! I am nursing a burger baby as I type.
