Checked this place out amid the errands. I ordered the Taco Bowl with Beef and my girlfriend ordered the Fajita bowl with chicken. Both agree that the taste, vegetables, and meat were top notch! 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. I've just left California after living there for 8 years and the Mexican food/trucks there are beyond amazing. So, I must be reasonable and know that this food is super mild and not as flavorful as I would like. Taking it home and fixing it up was the best option for me and I was craving a quesadilla. The prices took me aback somewhat. $17.50 for 1 chicken quesadilla, just under $20 with tax. Restaurant + prices. But the owner seemed nice enough, there was a small patio to wait on with tables, the Mexican music was playing from a little speaker and the food here is made to order. It didn't take too long. Maybe 10 minutes. Credit cards accepted. The owner was intuitive and put the lettuce and pico on the side for me although I didn't want to trouble him re tasking him with that but he was aware that I couldn't eat it right away. Also, it came with a small sour cream and a salsa. Kid mild. The rice was just ok. Too tomatoey not very authentic but that's ok. I had asked for no beans. After the order was placed, I learned that for $2.50 less, you can get just the quesadilla. Some gluten free options for those that need it except for the gravy, burritos and chimichangas. I see by previous reviews that this truck has been all over; today we tried it at the Home Hardware parking lot, on Hazeldean (used to be a Rona corporate store). Mid afternoon snack, as we were picking up necessities and hadn't had lunch. I've got to say that these were some of the best fries we've had! I would certainly go back again (another day; I'm full now!) So, now that we're in lockdown due to COVID, I've noticed an uptick in the number of food trucks in the Kanata-Stittsville area. Will this move away from bricks and mortar restaurants be the way of the future? Maybe... Now that I see Dawn's review of Bonita's, I'm going to make a point of going back - just to try the fish tacos!! ;-) read more

I had the tacos and the enchiladas. I tried the beef, pork, and fish tacos. They were fine but nothing special. Meats were not particularly flavourful, toppings were meh. Had to add some Mexican hot sauce to add flavour. The enchiladas were made with shredded chicken and flavourless salsas, so not really a fan of them. read more

I swung by this little food truck situated just outside of Art-Is-In Bakery and the Orange Monkey pool hall. It's in the front corner of the parking lot so if you're not paying attention it's easy to miss. I pulled up and there was a line so I was pretty excited to check it out and see if it was actually good or if people were checking out the novelty of all these new Ottawa food trucks. I had a look up and down the menu and decided on tacos. I ordered a pork and a beef taco. The prices aren't bad at all. They're about $3-3.50 a taco, sorry I can't remember the price exactly but I didn't think the pricing was ridiculous compared to another taco place that opened in Ottawa charging $5 per taco with a minimum order of 2 when they first opened. I will refrain from naming names. The tacos weren't bad, the ingredients were fresh and the meats were alright. The tacos came pre-dressed but they don't have the awesome homemade hot sauces that Corazon has in the market. The seating are a handful of chairs scattered around the grass by the truck which was pretty awesome. Check it out if you're in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this place. read more

This truck was a West Fest - so gave them a try. Friendly nice staff and quick (for a food truck) service, along with good fresh ingredients made this a win. Tried their fish taco - great, and on par with most other good fish taco vendors. Would I return: Yes. Would I recommend: If they were located close by to where I was, I wouldn't hesitate to point this truck out to someone as a place to eat. It's now in the parking lot of the Home Hardware Building Centre in Stittsville. First time trying this and ordered the $42 special with 2 chimichangas (one beef, one pork), sides of rice, beans, plus bag of nachos and salsa. Hot sauces & sour cream included. Individually, the sides were $5ea, and chimis were $14ea, so not sure if it's really a deal. Will try $6 taco next time. Seems pricey but meats were delicious -- not sweet -- very savory and generous. Two of us ended up saving some for later so portions are decent size. Homemade salsa and chips were good, not spicy. Hot sauces offer a good burn. Rice and refried beans are standard, with a bit of melted cheese to dress them up. You shouldn't be disappointed with food servings, taste, or service. read more

Using the Street Food App on my iPhone to find good food trucks (streetfoodapp.com) this nice little truck is in the South East side of the Loblaws parking lot on Robertson and Moodie. Stopping for a lunch, my dining companion and I joined the lunch-time office workers crowd line up to get our food. Perusing the menu we decided to keep it light an ordered a variety of tacos, two beef, two chicken and two fish. The prices were very reasnoable at about $3.00 - $3.50 each taco which is probably about right price-wise. The tacos were good, not fantastic; the veggies were fresh and the fish on the tacos was OK but didn't really taste of anything and not really crisp enough for my liking. The beef was good, nice strips pf marinated grilled beef and the chicken was decent enough. They had a selection of mass-produced store-bought sauces, from mild to hot, but nothing really amazingly good. Perhaps you guys can add some local hot sauce vendor to your line-up? There is an amazing vendor (Chef Carleton from Chamomile Desjardins) at the Carp Market who has incredible hot sauces. The service was good and even with a long line up they get through to you pretty fast. read more

I disagree with someone who says not to go out of your way for their food. Definitely at all cost try this place tacos,chimimichangas, are all amazing. Most importantly you have to try the chil and also the Calimari with their special chipotle mayo. It is to die for. Love the food and company read more

I kinda like this place. The fish and beef tacos are pretty good although I'm no connoisseur. The picnic tables are nice for a small group and Muskoka chairs are nice if you're on your own. Obviously tons of parking since its in the City Centre parking lot. read more

I was excited to discover Bonita's. Ottawa really needs a good taco truck. Sadly this isn't a good taco truck. I've eaten at a lot of taco trucks in a lot of towns and even the worst are usually pretty satisfying. Spicy meat in a tortilla isn't too challenging. But somehow this spot gets it wrong. I tried the chicken tacos and pork tacos. Both were totally bland. Like boiled shredded meat. Hoping to salvage them I went looking for some hot sauce. Bonita's had...ketchup. That's right folks, in Ottawa a taco truck makes French fries and instead of Cholula you get Heinz's. The tortillas were good, if a bit stale. And I didn't explore the whole menu. But overall this is my second worst Ottawa food experience after only the "meatball sandwich" at the Prescott. read more

This truck is now in Bells Corners in the loblaws/Zellers parking lot. Stopped in for lunch today and found the food OK. I ordered the chimichanga and it was a good size, pretty good flavour but found it soggy. I did take it to go but only had a 3 minute drive so I don't think that's the culprit. I almost think it was too big to get properly crispy, but I dunno. I'm willing to give it another go based on location and am interested in trying the fish tacos next time and I'll update my review. Average. For a quick taco fix it will do just fine. Very fresh ingredients but when everything combined, the end-result is just lacking in flavour. Nothing stands out. That said, I am a big fan of their spicy sauce. The one with habanero is around 30k on Scoville. read more

It was just OK .. A couple of nice picnic tables available to sit down at. Had a chicken and a beef soft taco .. each one comes in two corn tortillas layered together with cheese. I found it a little greasy and tough/rubbery. If I go again I would try something else. The taco filling was tasty, not out of this world delicious. The pico seemed fresh enough. I understand them keeping the "heat" to a minimum to appeal to a wider population, but a little more spice would have been good. There is pepper sauce provided for you to add but its already a pretty "juicy" making It soggy. I can't say I would know "authentic" Mexican food so I can't speak for that. Have not decided if I would go back again. If I did I would not order the same thing. read more
