The table had delicious bowls of Maryland crab soup, the service had been unpretentious and friendly, and the overall vibe was refreshingly relaxed. It was very busy lunch hour and not a single person complained about the line. They all knew warm, ample food portions were coming and they would be followed by a lovely cup of ice cream. The inside was adorable, highly welcoming to all, and delightfully kitschy. The entire place is situated on a large farm--you are literally steps away from the crops that made their way to your table. This is a great stop if you are heading into Perryville but want to eat first.

We opted for the regular-sized portions which were very generous, butter pecan for her and cashew caramel for me. The respective nuts had the perfect texture within the ice cream, soft but with a little crunch. There was plenty of seating throughout the store and right outside the doors. Many farm-themed tchotchkes were all over the space, too, which were all lovely. Staff was friendly and making sure the space looked its best. Bought milk from their cooler and a half-pound of their Aunt Josie's butter as we left (they brought the butter out from the back) and can't wait to try it! If it's half as good as that ice cream, we'll be more than satisfied. Looking forward to a return visit to sample some of their hot foods, too!

Review for the catering arm of Eats & Sweets, Blue Farm Catering:…read more We had a wonderful experience working with Blue Farm Catering! After weeks of searching for a wedding caterer that could cook up good food without breaking the bank, we stumbled upon BFC. Because they were the only caterer within our budget and food preferences, they were the only caterer we scheduled a tasting with. They invited us to the farm for the tasting and seated us in a converted barn. As my fiancé and I were waiting for the food, I told him, "This food better be good because we have no other options." And to our great relief, the food wasn't just good, it was absolutely delicious! Fresh, flavorful, homemade, and clearly made with great skill and care. It only took a few bites for us to know we had found our caterer. We also like that they're a family-owned small business, that much of their food comes from their farm, and that they make everything from scratch. To reduce the complexity of the day, our stress, and the costs, we had them do all of our food for us. For our late morning wedding, BFC catered appetizers for the cocktail hour, a lunch buffet, and desserts, including the wedding cake. Jordan was our contact throughout the process, and she was a joy to work with. She responded promptly and thoroughly to all our queries. No question or concern was too small. When it came time to set the menu for our 180 guests, she worked with us to accommodate an extensive list of dietary restrictions with grace and flexibility. We are both indecisive, and everything sounded so good, we had a hard time making selections. Jordan used her catering expertise to help us build a menu that would have something for everyone. When it was time to decide on the wedding cake, which we had given zero thought to, Jordan provided us pictures of designs and popular cake flavor combinations. On the day of the wedding, there was plenty of food, and we received many compliments from our guests. Several of them said it was the best wedding food they had ever tasted (and we agree!). Because the church holding our reception doesn't allow outside caterers to use their kitchen, BFC just cooked everything in their food truck. We were running a bit behind schedule, but BFC rolled with it. The serving staff was professional, kind. There was one small issue, but once we alerted Jordan, she took care of it to our satisfaction. Did I mention they're LGBTQ friendly? You never know these days, but BFC had zero issues catering a wedding with an interracial pair of grooms. We HIGHLY recommend Blue Farm Catering. Fantastic service, amazing value, and the most delicious food! We hope to never plan a wedding again, but we will definitely use Blue Farm Catering for our future catering needs.

I'd driven past it countless times over the last few years but either didn't have enough time to stop or couldn't convince anyone else to stop with me. During my Lancaster Adventure Day, though, all of that changed. I purchased a Single Scoop ticket online ahead of time for $16.75 and reserved the very first time slot of the day at 10am. I figured a late-summer Thursday morning would be the sweet spot, and it turned out to be a great decision. It was busy enough that the place felt lively but not so crowded that I had to wait for every exhibit. Parking was plentiful, and I somehow managed to snag a spot right in front of the GIANT cow out front. Honestly, my day was already off to a fantastic start! The only hiccup of the visit came during check-in. Even though I'd already purchased my ticket online, I still had to wait in the same line as everyone buying gift shop items, purchasing admission and asking questions. Since there were only a two employees working both the registers and admissions, the line moved a little slower than I expected. If I could change one thing, it would be creating a separate express check-in line for folks who already have tickets. Once I finally made it inside, though, everything became easy peasy! The exhibits are completely self-guided, so you can wander at your own pace learning how Turkey Hill makes its ice cream and iced tea while playing with interactive displays along the way. One of my favorite parts was creating my own virtual ice cream flavor, complete with custom packaging. I also wanted to film my own Turkey Hill commercial, but those stations stayed busy the entire time I was there, so that'll have to wait until another visit. Naturally, I made a beeline for the tea sampling station. As someone who appreciates sugar-free options, I was thrilled to find both Zero Sugar Sweet Tea and Zero Sugar Fruit Punch available to sample. Both were fantastic! Then it was time for the part we'd all been waiting for...unlimited ice cream samples. One thing I really appreciated is that they weren't tiny little "blink and it's gone" samples. You picked two flavors, and they served actual scoops in a bowl. For an attraction centered around ice cream, that felt exactly right. My only tiny complaint? Wooden popsicle sticks instead of spoons. They definitely got the job done, but they made eating melting ice cream a little more awkward than it needed to be. Still...free and unlimited ice cream? I'm not about to complain too loudly! I spent about an hour wandering through the exhibits, playing with the interactive displays and enjoying the air conditioning on a hot August morning before making one final stop in the gift shop. Prices there were about what you'd expect for a tourist attraction, but there were plenty of fun souvenirs if you're looking to bring a little Turkey Hill home with you. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend visiting the Turkey Hill Experience at least once. I don't know that it's somewhere I'd return over and over again, but it was a fun, interactive way to spend an hour learning something new, eating entirely acceptable quantities of free ice cream and escaping the August heat. That sounds like a pretty successful adventure day to me!

After we finished our lunch, we couldn't resist ordering some ice cream, too (strawberry chip for me and oreo cheesecake for him). The service is great - fast, friendly. My partner and I were both very happy with our sandwiches. They got a gobbler and I got an Italian. We loved ordering on the kiosk because they have so many toppings to choose from. It made it very easy to see all the options and if they cost more or not. There are a couple of indoor tables and some outdoor seating as well. Every table was full while we were there. They have lots of sweets, a small market, and lots of home made desserts. I tried a bunch of ice cream flavors. I really enjoyed the peanut butter ripple and I purchased pints of cake batter and peach to take home. They were both very good. They have four different sizes of packaged ice cream in coolers for you to take to go in tons of different flavors. The only spaces I see for improvement were that we didn't really enjoy the sides (we tried the potato salad and pasta salad). I also don't see a need for single stall restrooms to be gendered.
