There's nothing like great ice cream on a warm summer's day to make everything better and at Broom's Bloom Dairy today, me and my girlfriend got just that. We opted for the regular-sized portions which were very generous, butter pecan for her and cashew caramel for me. The respective nuts had the perfect texture within the ice cream, soft but with a little crunch. There was plenty of seating throughout the store and right outside the doors. Many farm-themed tchotchkes were all over the space, too, which were all lovely. Staff was friendly and making sure the space looked its best. Bought milk from their cooler and a half-pound of their Aunt Josie's butter as we left (they brought the butter out from the back) and can't wait to try it! If it's half as good as that ice cream, we'll be more than satisfied. Looking forward to a return visit to sample some of their hot foods, too! read more

A lady at my doctor's office has been recommending i check this place out for several months now. Even the staff at the daycare my kid goes to raved about it when i told them i was gonna treat my kid to some well earned ice cream. The place was nice and staff were very friendly, patient, and helpful as I found myself suddenly having a hard time figuring out what flavor I wanted to try. I wound up getting a Campfire Cookie flavor and it was delicious! We sat outside for the remainder of our visit at one of the picnic tables and enjoyed the evening. Continuing our tour of all the places I have to visit while I'm here: we had lunch at Broom's Bloom yesterday. This multigenerational family farm now boasts a wonderful restaurant where the ice cream and cheese are made from the milk of the cows who live here, and as much of the other ingredients as possible are from other local farms. Everything is SO fresh! We had the Quiche Lorraine and the vegetarian salad. Both were generous portions and both were delicious! Stopped in our way home from DC for lunch and ice cream. Lunch portions were huge, hot and came out fast. Kids had Mac n cheese tha was soooo good, a burger (slightly Smokey but he enjoyed), husband and I had half and half bowls which were enormous (could have gotten away with just a cup!), he also had pulled pork which he liked but needed more bbq sauce that we realized was out and he just didn't see it. Large Fries were enormous also and very good and well salted. Ice cream I got the show which tastes like golden Oreos and I love last time and this time. Son got snickers which was my favorite. Tasted like actual peanuts. Husband got black cherry which was good but my least favorite flavor. Daughter got strawberry chocolate chip which she loved. Yes. Wow. We were doing all the ice cream trail spots and this was my favorite place by far. The lights were still off when we got there at 10ish but they were already in the back prepping things. Huge selection of cheese and meats for sale, the ice cream was soooo creamy and decadent. The Mac and cheese I was going to take a few bites in the car but I ended up finishing it. An absolutely delightful spot. I've heard it mentioned by my family for years. Finally had lunch (and an ice cream!) this week on a visit home. The chicken salad was great. I love all the salad sandwiches there are but despise when they include nuts, grapes, raisins, whatever. Just do them with the main thing, mayo, and some chopped veggies. Broom's does that with the chicken salad and it was great. The list of quiches was 13 long and each one sounded better than the last. Next time that's what I'll try. The chocolate ice cream could be labeled "dark" chocolate. It was loaded with cocoa and tasted perfectly chocolatey. Loved it. It's like stepping into a familiar country store to walk into the cafe. I have never been to broom's Bloom Dairy before . I wanted to bring home soup and sandwiches for lunch . I checked out the menu on the counter and it had no prices . The clerk at the counter said that she would go over the prices with me . She did not . $ 50 dollars for the food and a small box of donuts . The food was very good and I will go back again ! Hmmm... I think what makes Broom's Bloom Dairy so popular is its atmosphere. It's in the country, one drives up a dirt lane and after you buy your ice cream there are nice places to sit outside. This is very pleasant. What I find not so attractive is the wait in line for your food. I feel they could use a few more workers. Also I found their food to be just ok. I travel the dairy ice cream circuit and would say it's third on my list. I would go there if Jarrettsville Creamery and Bomboy's are closed. read more

We loved the Cinnamon Honey Vanilla, it was light, not overly sweet, and simple. But we weren't fans the Maraschino Cherry Chip at all. It tasted super artificial and was too sweet for us both. This was quite a hike for me personally but it's worth a visit if you're out in the Bel Air area. They use the milk straight from their farm to make the ice cream and cheese for their Mac and cheese! We had the honor of trying their regular Mac and cheese, chili Mac and cheese and their BBQ pork Mac and cheese. I personally loved the chili one because the taste wasn't what I expected ! I usually prefer chili with some kick to it but this one was sweet and complemented the creamy Mac and cheese so well! Sadly, they ran out of crab so we didn't get to try their cream of crab soup. (Next time) The quiche was ok, the crust wasn't as flaky as I had hoped and felt a little room temp for my liking. The chicken salad was ok as well. It was on the lighter side than some of the other chicken salads I have had before in regards to the amount of Mayo but nothing special, just topped with lettuce and tomato. I do wish there was more texture such as adding celery or sweetness with cranberries. The ice cream was very creamy and delicious. I got the chocolate cookie dough and also tried the roasted peaches and ended up buying an extra quart to bring home !!! It's on a large farmland but not a lot of seating available if you plan to dine in. I got there around peak dinner time and it was very busy so plan your trip accordingly. There were people eating both inside and outside overlooking a farm but I had to get back to the field. It was windy and a bit cool out and that soup hit the spot. It had so much crabmeat and potatoes and it was a red sauce base. It was delicious! The egg salad was perfect as well. I was so happy to eat such a wonderful lunch after traveling all weekend. Although my visit was on a rainy day, I found the service to be incredibly sunshiny inside. There are many types of meat to choose from like sausage pork chops chicken and sirloin. Also, I found there were several flavors of ice cream like cake batter lemon and Oreo for sale. Since it was a Sunday, food service did not begin until 12. However my sons were able to purchase ice cream cones. The serving size is ample. A large size ice cream cone could really feed three people. The medium ice cream cone that my youngest son bought could serve actually two people. I ordered crab soup and a blt. My cousin and his wife always find the best places for treats. On 2.26.22 we drove out to get some ice cream. The prices I think are fair. I picked up 2 quarts to take home (Mocha Chip & Rum Raisin), but ordered a small Mocha Chip to eat on the way home. We were allowed to sample flavors and were given nice spoons to sample their ice cream flavors. I was so curious and trying to take in all of the sights I forgot to take photos. I saw Broom's Bloom Dairy on a list with the best ice cream shop in each state. Broom's Bloom was the one listed for Maryland so I had to check it out. First of all it's a very scenic place to eat ice cream. It's right on a farm with lots of outdoor seating. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there was a live band playing. There was also a long line out the door. Which is a good sign. The menu changes daily here. Per their website, they've made well over 100 flavors, but only 12-18 are served at a time and vary daily. So when you're far back in the line you can't see the flavor board inside. The best plan is to have someone hold you place in line and have someone else run in and take a picture of the flavors on the chalkboard and text that to everyone. That way you can decide before you get inside. When we reached the cashier, it was a bit to crowded to taste so we ordered mini moo sizes of the following flavors: Lohr's peach, key lime, andes mint and oreo mint. My husband went with a blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was certainly creamy with the exception of peach which was super filled with ice crystals. Andes Mint was the winner of the scoops, but by far the best flavor was the vanilla ice cream on the warm blueberry pie. None of the flavors were something I wanted to take a quart of home (I am the biggest fan of coffee ice cream but there was none on the board that day), enjoying a pie a la mode outside on a summer evening was delicious. read more

I was shocked at the additives it included. I will still eat it sometimes, but not with a feeling of comfort in the quality. The variety of ice cream flavors will probably satisfy any group or desire. On hot days in the summer--it was 92 degrees out the day I visited--I like to get a fruit flavor since they tend to be cool and refreshing...and the black raspberry didn't disappoint. The service was fast. When I got in line I was probably 15 people back and maybe only waited 10 minutes. There was plenty of seating inside and outside. Even with the open air inside dining the inside was still cool for being 92 degrees outside. Outside there is plenty of seating and shade seating seemed plentiful. The location on the farm makes sitting outside so relaxing. And to put a cherry on top there was a folk player playing music. Plenty of parking available.
