A young employee was sweeping the floor at a distance from me and proceeded to slowly sweep (snails pace) towards me backing me up almost to the door. I told him to stop as I was trying to keep 6 feet apart. He then rudely said, "well then wait outside". The music was playing so loud I could barely hear myself talk. Now here's the sad part....... When I win the lottery this store will get a payout for selling the winning ticket. I guess I'll buy the store and staff it with people that have a clue as to what customer service is all about. While waiting we pondered grabbing a pasta salad from the tasty looking assortment on the shelf to accompany our sandwich but in the end opted for a container of local California strawberries, and chips (plain for the hubs and oil and vinegar for yours truly). While at the register the friendly cashier suggested a Mexican marzipan style cookie, which we readily agreed to. Lunch was delicious later as we sat on a park bench by a peaceful pond in the middle of Jack London state park. My husband particularly enjoyed the bread. I had been waiting next in line for a few minutes to be served, as another employee was helping a person just ahead of me. I was waiting partiently - approximately 10 minutes to be served next. A young man approached the counter, looked at me in line, then looked the other way - down the delicatessan area-l, and asked a man that had just walked up to the counter if he needed anything. I immediately spoke up and mentioned to the gentleman that I had been waiting for a while to be served. The young man pointed at the customer he had just talked to and said to me "I'm helping him now". I immediately stated, I had been waiting for a while and that he should have first asked "Whom was next in line". The young man shook his head, closed hos eyes, and started laughing and continued to help the other person. Of course, as It so happened, Angel's supervisor was nearby and I immediately explained to him what had happened. He had an amused smirk on his face and said nothing. I ince again explained in detail what had just occurred and it seemed that he was not taking my complaint seriously either. I work hard all day, like everybody else, and expect at least some common courtesy when dealing with a situation like this. I am not happy at all with the service "Not provided today". In looking at the previous revoews on Yelp it seems that this Safeway has had many complaints that probably are not being resolved through corporate or by immediate remediation and training. I highly recommend that more training be given to those who do not respect customers nor have the presence of mind to read a situation and handle situations like this more professionally. Please take the extra effort to go to a different grocery store as you may also be left holding the short end of the stick...

When it was my turn, he tried the exact same scam on me. I have been a loyal Shell Rewards member for years. I scanned my official Shell app for my standard fuel discount, and the cashier deliberately kept pressing "ABORT" on the register screen to cancel the discount while attempting to charge me full price. When I showed him my phone with my account and name clearly displayed, he refused to honor it and kept hitting abort so the store could pocket the difference. ​This isn't just bad customer service--it is flat-out illegal under California state law: ​Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code § 12024.2 (Price Verification Law): It is illegal to charge an amount greater than the advertised, displayed, or promotional price at the time of sale. ​Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code § 17200 (Unfair Competition Law): Engaging in deceptive, fraudulent, and unlawful business practices to cheat consumers out of valid promotions. ​Cal. Civ. Code § 1770 (Consumer Legal Remedies Act): Deceptive practices, including misrepresenting discounts and pricing at the point of sale. ​When I caught him in the act, I demanded my money back and walked out. Instead of stopping there, this employee followed me outside into the parking lot to physically intimidate me after I called out his fraud (Cal. Civ. Feeling kinda ripped off by these guys. Had a drain in the battery, took my car there and they…read moresaid that I needed a new battery. I had just purchased one a few days prior, but they said it was defective, and they would return it for me and replace it. It's possible right? I told them I needed a diagnostic and that the battery was new. They never ran the diagnostic, but instead charged me over $200.00 for getting another battery and putting it in. I could have, (and previously did), done that myself. Meanwhile, my car continued to have starting problems because they did not take the time to find out what the real problem was. Which is why I took my car there in the first place. Find another mechanic.
