We stopped by here for lunch and weren't disappointed. We were hauling our 27 foot travel trailer and although it wasn't super easy, it was easy enough to park and maneuver through the parking lot both in and out. Lunch was fantastic. All three of us ordered cold sandwiches on French rolls, a potato salad and a macaroni salad were our side dishes. Two of us ordered the Italian Cold sandwich and one of us ordered a build your own smoked turkey. All three sandwiches had a bunch of meat, were loaded with veggies, and were even large enough that two of us enjoyed the second halves of our sandwiches the following day. Service was very good and the restrooms were nice and clean. Ordering was rather clever, and I was impressed by the simplicity of it. Horrible experience! Can't recommend or will ever support this Co. I have a friend who was in an accident and went to the station for help and a male (not a man) smoking a cigarette said to my friend "we don't help people with their cars". She didn't even ask for help. He walked away. It was 11:40 pm when this happened. What a looser and if this is how they treat customers I'm not supporting. A solid sandwich spot, but pretty pricey for the size of the sandwich. The protein is slight, and it was about $18 for a pretty small turkey sandwich and soda. The reason for 4 stars really is the fresh produce, which was super fresh and made the sandwich. Fill out what you want on the sandwich ticket, and deliver your paper to the sandwich ladies for them to make! Pick up a drink and some sides, and pay. This deli is right on a busy street corner in Sonoma and is easy to spot as you are driving by. It's one of the few businesses around that is not a winery! They do serve wine inside though, as almost every place in Sonoma does. I came here on a Saturday to get some sandwiches togo. The order station is outside where you use a pen and paper menu to circle what you'd like to order. We went with two hot sandwiches: the Classic Rueben and the French dip. You then bring your order inside and drop it off in a somewhat disorganized manner. You go past the register, down a corridor, turn past another register, then you reach the deli counter where you drop off your paper. With this setup, they must get asked by countless people where they are supposed to go. There's also not really a convenient place to wait for your order unless you go back outside. The inside is a little market and I felt like I was standing in the way of everyone else trying to shop for items in this narrow aisle. The in-store process could be improved for sure. However, the sandwiches themselves were fantastic! Good portion sizes, but a little pricey for sandwiches that don't come with a side. The au jus that came with my French dip really completed the whole sandwich. No seating inside, but they do have some outdoor tables. Overall a pretty good experience thanks to the food making up for the ordering/waiting process! read more

Carneros Deli gets a solid four stars because it is a great stop on your way to and from wine country. I have to start by saying they have great breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos. But be warned, the breakfast sandwiches can get a little messy if your planning on eating in the car (or while driving like me, don't judge). They have specials, but sometimes I build my own. I like it because it's all made right there after you order it, eggs get cracked and scrambled, not much is premade besides the cheese and deli meats of course. They also have good local coffee from Santa Rosa. Into lunch/dinner, they have great sandwich specials but you can also build your own! Although they have some amazing specials, I for one love the Dora Pepper Pesto, it's honestly pure joy, I recommend it with the soft roll. I don't add anything, but you could if you don't trust me. If you want to sit and enjoy your lunch they have a spot in the back, but it's a grab and go type place. They have tons of drink options ranging from soft drinks to alcoholic drinks. They also have a wine tasting in the back, because when in Sonoma! Only tip, they can get busy at peak hours for breakfast and lunch, even with two girls behind the counter, you're going to be waiting. This place is very local, so your getting all the wine workers coming in. So if your looking for fast food, keep driving. read more

We spot this little deli next door to a gas station. And we really were expecting to just grab some pretzels or something. I'm a local who frequents this deli, as I live very close by. As a business owner myself, I notice things about how places are run. In comparison, Vineberg deli and Broadway deli are run like a well oiled machine, with long time staff, good food, and speedy service during rush. Carneros Deli on the other hand, while the food is good, is managed terribly and the service is painfully slow/sloppy. The turnover rate is huge, and the vibe is that it run by an out of touch dictator. This is why buisness is at a lull for them. Its unfortunate because they have a prime location... they may not care because they will always do decent buisness with the tourists. The constantly changing cashiers are slow, often goofy people who hold up the line. They always seem to be changing sandwich makers who are also often slow and painful to watch...often distracted and more busy chatting than making sandwiches. You can always tell when the boss is there because the demeanor in the store changes and you can tell that they rule with an iron fist instead of proper leadership. With the square footage of that place so small and crowded it is important to really crank out the customers and have your service be fast. When you go somewhere else in Sonoma like Vineburg Deli or Broadway Market, you see the same faces consistently for years, and they really know how to Kick-Ass and turn out a fast/quality product during rush.... the owner of Carneros Deli should take some notes, and change their management/service because the constant turnover rate, slow service, and waining customers are indicative of poor management. Its sad to see for such a great location. I get the sense that the owners have a lot of businesses and income and probably don't care. Step up your game please. Such a great destination for a quick pitstop during wine tasting adventures in Sonoma County! The selection of drinks, snacks and cheese & cured meats was well above average and we loved the hot chipotle chicken sandwich on sourdough for a light lunch. They have a wide range of sandwiches, snacks, wine and beer, as well as pre packed salads and sandwiches. Yummy and we found them super friendly! Got a referral to this place as having good sandwiches. Stopped by today on my way into SF to pick up some lunch so I wouldn't have to waste time in the city. Ordered a simple sandwich, turkey with lettuce tomato mustard mayo and bacon. Paid a whopping $10.38. More than I'm used to paying for a sandwich with these ingredients. Three hours later when I get to eat my sandwich I opened it up and lo and behold, NO BACON!!! I was annoyed, pissed and frustrated because they charged me two dollars for the bacon. They were really accommodating of a large order (15+ sandwiches). I called on the phone, they emailed me a menu, and we picked it up the next day. The only request would be to post their menu online since it's easier to figure out prices and what you want. You can make your own sandwiches or get one of the specialities. I got the bonneau club ($10) with turkey, ham, jack cheese, and bacon on toasted white bread with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion. The ingredients were all very fresh and tasty. I used to love this place and got a sandwich every time I was traveling this route for almost two decades. However, the past several times it has definitely gone downhill. It seems like they need to hire better quality staff. The people making the sandwich were so lackluster, and generally uninvolved that it made me feel like I would have been better off asking my 6-year-old daughter to make it instead. Initially they forgot to even take my card, once they had it, they somehow misplaced it, and then they made the order wrong. I am not a regular complainer so it took quite a bit of gumption for me to even point out these mistakes. Once I had pointed out that they gave me the wrong toppings and didn't include cheese, the main sandwich maker made sure to wipe her nose with her hand a couple times before grabbing my sandwich back, ripping it open and putting it back together as if she was trying to make some kind of a foul point. I think most people would have gone up against her but I just took the sandwich and left. I'm going to take a long break from this place. It's conveniently located at the crossroads of Highways 116 & 121 (there is probably some local nomenclature for this intersection but I don't know it). I have been driving past this little road store since I was a child when we would drive from St. Helena to San Francisco. I recently started stopping as a pit stop. They have sandwiches, salads, cheese, salami, chips, beverages, little treats etc. The staff are really friendly and down to earth. They even do some kind of wine tasting thing here, i've seen something about that in the back. There are a couple of things I don't like. I feel like this store caters specifically to tourists and couples, which makes sense as they are trying to find people to buy wine from there, but it would be nice if there was some kind of appeal for locals to keep stopping in. For example, if they had gluten free bread to make sandwiches on, I would go there at least once or a week. Or if their stamp card/sandwich card allowed two stamps if you showed you lived in napa or Sonoma county, since this little place is basically right at the line between two counties. At that point, this would make this place a bigger appeal and easy to recommend. read more

This is a perfectly fine sandwich stop if you're making you're way up to wine country. Situated at the 121 and 116 crossroad (next to the gas station), the Carneros Deli doesn't exactly look like much from the outside. But don't let the exterior deceive you - they've got a full-on deli (replete with a wide variety of sandwiches (hot and cold), salads/side dishes, and beverages for take-out). The deli even has a wine tasting area in the back. Got to love wine country! For my immediate purposes today, I just needed a quick fuel-boost as I traveled back from Sonoma to Marin. So I ordered 1/2 roast beef sandwich on wheat bread. Was it the best sandwich I ever had? No. But the bread and tomatoes were fresh, the meat was hearty, and they didn't over-do it with the mayo (one of my biggest deli pet peeves). And for just $4.99, this mid-afternoon snack certainly satisfied my hunger pangs. While waiting for my sandwich to be prepared, I saw that they were selling a 4-pack of deviled eggs for $3. I couldn't resist. And you know what? They were actually quite tasty. I washed it all down with a bottle of water. All in all, my impromptu lunch cost me less than $10.
