This place is extremely dangerous for the animals and anyone one the property. The owners have no experience with horses at all. The brother and sister, Loura Christine Bonner who run the place have no business caring for animals. They employ the cheapest people possible, with absolutely no knowledge of horses at all. They claim to be a rescue also, but the reality is, the poor horses on their property need to be rescued from the neglect that their experiencing. Loura, claims that she is a zookeeper, from Oregon, when in actually she's a washed up real estate agent. Please, if you have space for rescue horses, please take tall to her about saving a horse from her property. If your thinking about boarding here, go take look at other reviews, many others know how this property is ran. Very poorly maintained, managed. I found myself there looking to help them out,but quickly found myself feeling really uncomfortable with Loura's lack of care of the wellbeing of her horses. Really sad to see so many horses in such need of basic needs like clean water buckets, shoeing care and all kinds of dangerous fences. Very shady operation to say the least. There many great facilities in this valley. I recommend anything but this place. I told the current ranch hand how I thought it wasn't safe or humane for the horses and Loura showed her true colors very quickly which prompted me all the moreto share this info. read more

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bonner Ranch and it truly exceeded all expectations. Nestled in the picturesque countryside in Santa Clarita. Bonner Ranch is a hidden gem that offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. From the moment I arrived. I was captivated by the stunning natural beauty of the ranch. The serene atmosphere and breath taking views instantly made me feel at ease. Every one was incredibly friendly. There wasn't tons of people so I could really feel like i got away from the busy city life. I notice the staff work hard to maintain the grounds and make sure everything is in it's place. Sadly, the other negative reviews about this place are true. By this point there are hardly any boarders left at this facility that is one of the largest in this valley. The owners are not horse people and do not maintain the property whatsoever. If you don't believe me, just go there and see it for yourself -- trash all over, overgrown weeds (fire hazard in this area!) all over, broken fences, rodent feces all over the tack room, arena footing is terrible, etc. Crazy high turnover rate for stall cleaners and feeders. Some days you really aren't sure if the horses are going to get fed or not. Avoid at all costs. read more

Bonner Ranch has been one of the best stables my horse has been to within the entire time I've owned him. He's a normal quarter-paint who was able to get gelded there and have a safe recovery even during the summer. He enjoys the large stalls compared to what I found him in- a 12 x12 box stall alone on his aisle like he was a dangerous animal. The jumping arena is huge and the dressage arena is wonderful with firm ground for solid steps and no chance of misstep. The turn outs are long enough for a horse to stretch its muscles and run while still being small enough for an easy catch. With constant improvements the ranch is getting better better every day. The owner and the manager are super helpful and sweet and I haven't had complaints since I've been there. Whether or not I stay there when I'm able to go to college wouldn't be based on how they treated me but on my own personal decision. While stuff may be under construction right now they have big plans for the future and do not push aside the importance of horses and their care. With Bonner Ranch being recluse to a small canyon the chances of strangers coming by and mistakenly feeding your horses poisoned foods are none. Each horse gets along with each other and create their own herd with each other and the scenery is gorgeous. While it might not be ready for competitions quite yet you can definitely see the ground work for it and is definitely wonderful for an easy going rider who wants to work on improving their relationship with their horse without the pressure of competition. read more

I'm pretty new to Bonner Ranch, so I've watched closely the ranch's operations before forming my opinion, and what matters most to me is not what people say, but what they do. From my observations, the ranch manager always puts the welfare of the horses and safety first. During the recent wildfires, the ranch manager accepted 25 rescue horses and cared for them as if they were hers. Without excuses, she accepts 100% responsibility for the operation of the ranch; she addresses concerns seriously and accepts suggestions willingly. Without question, I know my horses are safe and cared for. She has big dreams for the ranch, and I, for one, expect to be there to watch Bonner Ranch happen. read more

at first I was not going to leave a review, hoping a new barn will get up and running. however, I think my experience counts. I moved my horse from Sunland to Bonner Ranch, don't get me wrong the facilities are wonderful, stalls are HUGE! the trails are awesome. But what leaves for the negative review is the constant change that occurred. when we arrived meet the barn manager, there were a few red flags during out initial walk through, with statements like, "Yeah, we just had seven horses leave last week, basically due to the boarding increases,' she talked negative about the folks who left, but that is all water under the bridge and I avoid drama. It took a while to get across my little 850 lbs Arabian did not need four flakes a day, and ended up passing some over to the other horses or throwing it out, what a waste. He was showing signs of minor colic from too much food, which the barn manager poo-poo'd away. BUT what really caused concern was the barn manager's dog has no training and ran my little multipoo to the ground, poor things was scared and could not get away. If she cannot control her dog, the dog should not be allowed to run around. And the barn manager considers herself an animal trainer. Then the heat wave really hit. Arriving one night several of the horses had no water in their bins, mine was about 1/4 full, yearling next to him she had about an inch left in her water bucket. along with a few others. Some of the horses in the Mare barn were just as low. Texting the barn manager out of concern, at 7:20, she said she had a dinner date and will water when she returned. she stated she left at 6:15 and everything was fine, and they must have drank all the water. My next questions was, how much was in the bucket that indicates 'it was fine?" and for stalled horses standing in the sun, eating their dinner, could they have drank that much in less than an hour to empty the buckets. added bonus to her statement, they are going 'to install automatic waters as soon as the stalls are all rearranged'. Well me and another gal filled the buckets with the horses by our stalls and left the show horses for her. Several days later a few more horses left, and then three more by the end of the month. there is more going on then just being a new start up barn. Couple nights later, it was a repeat experience. I was at Bonner ranch for about two weeks, and left shortly after. The boarding contract was never completed, it had too many contradicting statements, and the final one had me laugh, this is not verbatim but it read something to the effect of 'we can enforce what is enforceable but the not unenforceable" so what in a contract can you enforce and how is that determined to what can't be enforced. I asked if an equine attorney wrote this, the barn manager stated she wrote it, and just as my grammar skills are out the window in this review, so was the grammar on the contract. I did not even know where to leave the contract, so it sat in my car, until requested. and since it was never requested and not knowing where to put it, guess it was not enforceable. Then one evening she requested if I knew an equine attorney, she had some questions. I had red lights and that was the end of this relationship. Future boarders beware. Until there is new barn manager, who has real equine experience in managing a barn, understanding that over feeding is just as bad as underfeeding Maybe my review is petty, but my horse is not, I really like this place physical amenities, just not sure what I was going to see when I arrived each night. I am now in a smaller family style boarding, with just as much access to amazing trails and half the board, upon which feed is included, and the stall is just as large. No issues with horses ever running out of water, there is a barn manager, morning help and afternoon. I genuinely do wish Bonner Ranch the best of luck, it is hard to find good help, and it is just as hard to get a new venture off the ground to if you don't know much about the industry. Beautiful, just wish it wasn't so far away! My daughter originally started lessons on the manager's own personal horse in Carlsbad. We were so bummed when she moved to manage Bonner. We've been to visit and the property is gorgeous. The owner takes a lot of pride in his ranch and is working to establish quality staff to care for their boarders. The manager used to work as a TV animal trainer! She's been riding since she was a kid and is great at giving lessons! read more
