Beautiful property and horses are well taken care of. Prices reasonable. Observed a lesson before beginning classes. Was very distressed by the way one of the teachers spoke to a student. She was very negative and made the poor girl cry. I should've known right then that this was not the place for us. Thinking maybe it was just the instructor having a bad day, We signed our child up only to have the same experience. have you ever heard the expression, "if you break a butterfly's wings, it will never fly? Hopefully this will help you understand just how this teacher is with students. After several lessons we realized that this was not a good match for our family. We just don't speak to people that way in our family. What teachers do not understand, is that the way you treat your students can either make or break them. If you want your students to do well in your subject matter you need to encourage them and build them up and make them feel like they're doing something right. Show them that you believe in them. This does not mean that you do not correct wrong behavior, or incorrect riding, but what it does mean is you don't say things to them like "do not count your posting counts out loud. Keep it to yourself- the horse doesn't want to listen to you talking" -- and you don't take everything they say and turn it into something negative. You don't degrade and belittle them and you are not rude and cruel. I know it's not just my child it was something that I witnessed with another student. After walking on eggshells for way too many weeks, We are leaving this place to find somewhere else. There's just no reason for my child to be tortured every week by this woman. And frankly, it was a torture experience for me too. I could hardly stand to listen to her open her mouth. It was poison.

Beautiful setting in the Oak trees, friendly staff, love to sit and watch from the deck the riders taking horse lessons.

The staff is warm, loving, and truly invested in the children's development. we have built a great rapport with Keelan as well as the each of my daughters teachers. My daughter has been attending for 2 years and has learned so much, from social skills to academics. She will soon be entering her third year and now my second daughter will be starting this summer as well. They have a fantastic, play-based curriculum and always keep us updated with daily reports. The facility is clean and safe, and the teachers truly treat the kids like family. We always feel at ease leaving our child here. Highly recommended to any parent looking for a nurturing and engaging environment!

That to me is a reflection that teachers are treated well and they are not spread thin. Also I was able to bring food from home, so I could have him have the food I wanted him to have with ingredients I know. He loved all the art and music classes. People at the reception desk know all kiddo's name and parents. Their pairing for teachers for each class was good too. When you learn the dynamics, you can tell it was not just a random placement. Big shout out to Ms Erika, Ms Joyce, Ms Courtney, Ms Kim and Ms Naomi! We were so happy to have you guys in his early life.

With Elmarie and her experienced, dedicated, and talented staff, I can rest well knowing that I got this part [my child's education] right. Elmarie who owns and runs it is so kind, patient and helpful. She always is so responsive to any questions I may have. She hires such fun, easy going, excellent teachers that really care about the students. There are so many really cool, unique, engaging classes, that sometimes it's hard to decide which to take! You can take just one class or many classes. You're sure to find something your student will be interested in. They also have one on one tutors in some subjects. They have basic and required academics like Math, Science, ELA, History, Social Studies and more. From Kindergarten up to High School classes for full credit, even foreign languages. They can change from semester to semester, due to teachers avail and interest. Many of the teachers have been teaching there for years. My son has taken some of these awesome classes over the years: Music theory, Science, Math Movement, Fencing, Skateboarding, Basketball, History through Minecraft, California History, Readers Theaters, Lego Robotics, Coding, English, Jedi training, Cooking, Yoga, ASL and so many more. When my son needed an educational aide to assist him due to his learning challenges, they were fine with it and so supportive of her being there. All his teachers were. He never felt uncomfortable or out of place. She even told us what a great place it is also. The families and kids that attend are all so nice and accepting. I have never seen any bullying or mean spirted kids. It's very inclusive of all kinds of kids. We've made such great friends. I wish I could have gone to a place like LBB! We currently attend the beautiful Northridge location that has a big grassy yard and playground and the site managers there are just great with the kids. I trust them and feel so safe and calm to leave him there during the day and know when I pick him up, he'll have loads to share. The other locations are great too. We started here in 1st grade and after the pandemic my son wanted to try a private school with some other homeschool pals, but after the second year there we left because it was a bad environment, filles us with anxiety and dread and not what they claimed to be. So we went back to LBB. They welcomed him with open arms! On the 2nd day back our son said he felt comfortable, relaxed and that he can be more himself at Learn Beyond the Book. So glad we returned! Our son had his middle school graduation here at their end of year presentation. Yes. They give out diplomas, get school pictures and yearbooks too. They also have fun field trips, dances, game nights, pot lucks and other school community events. He's with a homeschool charter that we get funds for to pay for classes which is a bonus. He's in High School now and is learning so much. We've found his "school" and are here until he graduates High School! I urge you to check it out if brick and mortar "normal" schools aren't working for your family. Why should our kids be so stressed out and full of anxiety over school? There is a better way and place! My son has so much more confidence now, less worries and less homework and no anxiety! He feels so accepted here. We're so grateful to Elmarie and the whole staff at Learn Beyond the Book.

Walk around sometime and you'll notice that you'll get a much larger percent that don't return even a smile. Most of these kids are only Christian by affiliation. I know not much can be done about the way the student body is so this is really just a warning for those who may struggle fitting in and want to make new friends. You will most likely feel like an outcast, if you insist on attending the school, there will be some good teaching and classes but there will be a tons of hypocrisy so you have to gird up and take it and constantly remind yourself why you are there and press on. There will be racism and holier-than-though peeps and you won't make the cut to join their groups, but hopefully you'll find a friend or two that are truly trying to walk in Him as you press on in your studies. For those that are naturally likable, you'll be just fine. There's some truth for you... You decide.
