In the quaint town 45 minutes north of Tallahassee sits Bainbridge, Georgia. The Bonnie Blue House restaurant sits on the edge of the Flint River. What a lovely spot for lunch or dinner! At 11:30 am on a weekday, we found ample parking and were greeted promptly at the entrance. Plenty of tables both inside and on the screened in patio. Since the humidity is still relatively low, my dining companion, and I chose an outdoor patio table. We were promptly greeted by our server and gave our drink and lunch order. I ordered fried grouper fingers with french fries. My dining companion ordered the calamari appetizer and a side of white macaroni and cheese. The first plate to arrive was the grouper fingers and french fries with the side of macaroni and cheese. We were nearly done with that plate when the calamari arrived. Our intention was to have all of it arrive at the same time. The Calamari is nicely fried with a crisp coating and served with a chili sauce. This would make a shareable appetizer or definitely a meal for one person. The fried grouper fingers and french fries were both crispy, hot and delicious. The entrée was supposed to be served with tartar sauce, but it did not arrive on our plate. The macaroni and cheese was the disappointment. It was very creamy, but had little flavor. I added salt and pepper. I use the generous amount of cheesiness as a dip for the grouper fingers. The outdoor seating was very pleasant as there was a nice breeze, sunny weather, and the patio overlooks the Flint River. Such a great spot for lunch! Again, only disappointment was the lack of flavor in the macaroni and cheese and the uneven entrée delivery time. Having said that I still want to return. The menu is full of options. Very nice ambiance with a great view of the river! Our kind waitress was Chrystal and she got everything correct! For appetizers, I ordered fried crab claws and my dining companion ordered the calamari. The crab claws were very good and the calamari was good. For lunch I ordered fried catfish that came with the best coleslaw ever, and onion rings. The coleslaw was sweet with an added touch of fresh dill. It tasted wonderful. The onion rings were not homemade, but they were still good. My dining partner ordered the Bonnie blue burger. The burger was cooked and perfect medium, and the meat was very good. Great food, views and service. Just about 40 minutes north from Quincy in a pretty picturesque setting. Views of the Flint River while enjoying good service and food. I got the ribeye, my wife got the dirty bird chicken? (Could be wrong), my son's got the red fish and crabclaws. Everything was cooked well. Could use a touch more seasoning, but having something cooked just right is more important. The server always kept drinks topped off, and kept tabs on any needs or providing extra napkins or condiments. The portions are large and not a bad value. Amazing food and even more amazing service. The Dirty Bird was two fried chicken breast topped with cheddar, parmesan, bacon, and BBQ sauce and was such a treat. The chicken was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. The fries were alright, but the side caesar salad was my favorite side. All of the staff were so friendly and made the ambiance perfect. The staff was very nice and welcoming. Our server took great care to explain their menu and patiently answered all of our questions. She made some great recommendations. The food was really good. It was served fresh and hot. The fried and grilled shrimp were especially good. The sides were really good too. The Red Beans & Rice was a standout. When the service is great I think it makes the food taste better. From the moment you walk in the door, the staff makes you feel right at home and they are happy to serve you. My server had my drink out right away and made sure it never went empty. She suggested the fried catfish and I went with her recommendation. We came here around 6:45pm on a Wednesday and this was located in a small strip of restaurants and stores. The parking lot was small but we found a spot and walked over. The inside was a little dark with a bar in the corner and we were seated near the bar. There were a lot of people here eating, but there were still a few tables available. The menu was simple and had a lot of choices. I was tempted to order one of the entrees like the Ribeye ($19.95) or the Filet Mignon ($21.95), but my teammates ordered stuff from the "Baskets" part of the menu. I guess it was peer pressure. lol I ordered the General Burger ($8.49) because the description of it on the menu sounded pretty good to me. It came with fries or onion rings and I chose fries. My coworkers got salads with their food so those came out first. A little while later, our main food came out at the same time. The General Burger was pretty huge but pretty good with everything on it. I would definitely recommend it if you like sauteed peppers and onions in your burger. Went for lunch, sat outside, and enjoyed our meal. Food was enjoyable and service was good. Walked inside to get our check and went to pay. When checking the register receipt, could not understand the amounts. The manager was summoned and he explained that the menu price showed up with the sales tax added to it. This was fine until looking further down on the receipt, there was 8% "sales tax" added. Asked about this charge and at first he was not sure, then he said that it automatically is added on by the register. When pressed further, He informed us that the register was operated by "Clover". Not being familiar with that I asked what that meant. He told me that the added charge was Clover's charge to process the transaction. Eight percent is an excessive amount, in my opinion. It most definitely should be stated on the menu instead of surprising you at checkout. The manager be came somewhat hostile when confronted. We came in for a party over the holidays and it was the first time that we have been there. We tried several items and all of them were awesome. My husband got the grouper sandwich and he said it was perfectly breaded and a large thick portion. I got the steak salad and it was perfectly cooked. The ranch dressing was also good which is my thing. They had pitchers of domestic beer for $11 which was nice. My daughter got a hamburger which she really liked also. This place was AMAZING! They recently moved from what we had heard. We are visiting the area and the residents next to our Airbnb told us we should try it. I had the redfish and my husband had the catfish filet "basket." FYI this is no "basket" this was a huge plate of catfish.
