A large group of friends and I were looking for lunch after a long morning. We weren't sure how we'd get a table together since you place your order than grab a table. Luckily, we were able to time things out well and make it work. The staff seemed more than willing to help us out too. Of course we returned everything to it's place right after. My friend and I shared 1/2 rack of ribs w/ fried okra & Mac n cheese as well as Hot wing medium basket w/ crinkle cut fries. We weren't that hungry so we thought it was gonna be a small order. But we were struggling to finish our plates so we were very wrong. Ribs were tender, moist, and well seasoned. Mac n cheese was solid and we really liked the crunch of the fried okra. My friends enjoyed their Smoked Turkey Pitmaster Plate and Pulled pork burger w/ Mac n cheese. Overall, we had a good time feeling like the locals. The food was good and the prices are fair. I'm going to give them another shot. The day I went they were out of white meat chicken. That's my go to so I got stuck with a grilled chicken breast that took a while to prepare. The staff was friendly, but I couldn't really rate them at this time. It was good enough that I'll go back and give it another try. This place has the worst barbecue I have ever eaten anywhere in my life. I ordered a pulled barbecue sandwich and was given a sandwich that had what looked like a brown mulched pile of something on it that resembled crap. The bad thing is that it tasted worse than it looked. It tasted like it was loaded down with sloppy joe mix and other excrements. People, pulled pork is pulled apart in large chunks, and is not "ground" into mush. Sauce is added by the customer to "their" taste. My wife and sister ordered regular barbecue sandwiches which looked and tasted the exactly the same as my sandwich. Well I was driving down and saw this place and it just happened to be lunch time, so decided to pull in. We were greeted immediately with smiles and the were quick to answer any questions. Food came to the table and the portions were great ( had to have to go boxes). The food was on point. But was still saving room because I wanted to try their dessert, we could not make up our kind so we got 3 and laid them on the table family style and everyone sampled them and they were delicious. Btw did I tell you their lemonade was amazing. But this sums up my first but definitely not my last trip to Boyd's. Long-time patron -- Boyd's is one of my favorite places! Great for lunch or dinner! The owner, Russell, is very accommodating, as is his staff! I really appreciate their conscientiousness when making sure a friend's food was prepared so am not to aggravate her allergy. They have a large dining area that can be rented for events in addition to their main dining area. The fried pickles are AMAZING. The BBQ is delicious -- the pulled pork sandwich is my go-to. They also offer sweet potato fries that are pretty dope as are their onion rings. Lunch time gets really busy, so try to call your order ahead or plan to wait a few minutes. read more

Not bad food but not the best BBQ I've ever had. I gave the restaurant 3 stars due to a few things. First the brisket and other items we received was on the colder end of things. They weren't too particularly busy but not enough to warrant cold food. There is no real menu aside from the two pieces of paper at the register. We always stop here on our way to and from the beach. It is a small little hole in the wall with one bathroom. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, being that we travel with a party of at least 8. The food is so good and served fast. There's 2 different types of bbq sauce to choose from. The restaurant was clean! Nicely decorated! The prices were fair. My wife's Philly Cheese steak was good. My ribs were good, I've had better and I've had worse. Terrific lunch experience today. Always like to try a new bbq joint when I can. Boyd's exceeded my expectations on all aspects. Stood in line to order and enjoyed a visit with a regular who informed me I was in for some good food. Sweet girl at the register regretted to tell me they had run out of ribs and brisket. I got a chicken and pork combo with stew. I was happy when the sweet girl showed up with my order and a helping of brisket because they weren't out after all. That is the kind of service that brings folks back. Brisket was some of the best I've had outside of Texas. Pulled pork was good stuff. Stew was tasty too. Great sandwiches and sides, especially the cole slaw and home style chips. My favorites are the pulled pork, chicken salad and burgers. They also offer a really good pork tenderloin sandwich. The BBQ pork was delicious however, I was disappointed with the BBQ salad. Basically it was a plate of unchopped lettuce with a few slices of tomatoes and a styrofoam cup of BBQ (I have never developed a taste for styrofoam). I love brunswick stew and ordered a side for $1.99. I was insulted when a cup no bigger than a shot glass was delivered to the table. My wife and I spent the night in Bainbridge on the way to St. George Island for the week. We ask the hotel manager for a recommendation and he suggested Boyd's for BBQ. I wish I had read Scott C. Review before going. The word BBQ should not be in their name because real pit masters would not feed this to their pigs. We ordered the BBQ pork salads. Very basic nothing fancy. Plate of lettuce with some tomato slices. A cup of BBQ pork in the middle. Presentation...none!!!! I took the pork and dumped it out. There was so much grease that it flowed down the pork. The pork had the texture of some sort of blended mush. My wife couldn't eat hers for fear of getting sick. We also ordered the Brunswick stew. Out of all the Brunswick stews I had....never have we've had with green peas!!!! each to there own. There was very little trace of any meat in the stew. At least the consistency stayed the same.. bad from beginning to the end. Excluding the food at least the service was very good and attentive. read more
