We can't speak any higher of The Bean Cafe and the owner. We were in a catering pinch and while trying to order from a nearby restaurant, they couldn't fulfill our order due to being closed on Sunday but this owner was standing there and said she'd be happy to help us. She matched our order from the neighboring restaurant and delivered it to our hotel before our flight out. Her restaurant wasn't even open on Sunday but she was happy to help us and happy to have some more business! This is a true small town and everyone knows each other and it truly showed when they helped us. The pricing was more than reasonable and she never needed to offer a delivery service but knew it would help us a lot. I had the club and it was delicious. Everything was freshly prepared and the portions were large without being obnoxious. All of the passengers enjoyed their sandwiches or wraps and we have added this to our list for future visits. read more

I think I was there on a bad day. There was not an adult to be found. The young boy who took my order had to be around 12 years old. He did a good job. The sisters? They were fighting and they didn't keep it quiet. At some point dad must have been called because the phone got handed around and there were a lot of yes sirs! The sandwich I ordered was very good and the potato salad was excellent. Only canned drink choices which are not my favorite. I'm an iced tea guy and it wasn't clear if I could order that. I love the fact the parents are making the kids work. I love it. However, they don't have the maturity to run the place by themselves as evidenced by the fighting. I'm going back to give it another go. If there are no adults, I'll gracefully leave and try again. Mom or dad needs to be around and I hope this was just an extenuating circumstance. read more

Extremely slow service when not busy, it should not take 10 minutes to get muffins to go, then to have the order to stay and have to wait more for them to wrap it. The place seems nice and might see how the lunch service is. read more

I absolutely love this little coffee shop. This quaint and cozy spot is a little treasure in our sweet town. Hospitality is top notch. They are very accommodating to families with small children. Whether you are a regular or first time customer everyone is treated with care. The coffees are exceptional. If you like sweet creamy drinks or a purist who wants a strong cup of joe, you can get your preference and it's always excellent. This place is sad! I went in to the cafe on Tuesday June 7 at 8:30 am and the only people there were the owner and her family. They never acknowledged me, but the look that gave let me know immediately that I wasn't welcome there. I sat for ten minutes not knowing you make your order then find a sit. They never said a word. A customer came in and went to the counter making their order and the owner still never gave me a word. As I got up and went to stand behind the other customer, nothing still was said. Finally I walked over to the table where the owner was sitting and asked if she was the proprietor and she answered yes and added how are you. I turned and walked out. This is the most racist place I have been in, in the seven years I've owned my house in Bainbridge. If The Bean Cafe doesn't want to serve African Americans put up a sign! This was absolutely terrible to think this place is that racist in 2022! read more

What a treat this was. Wife and kiddos came here last year and we'd been wanting to take a day-trip up to Bainbridge so this was our destination lunch-spot. Lee Tennyson (proprietor) was most congenial. This Bulldog was gearing up for the 2017 Bulldog/Mountaineer game later on today and was proudly wearing his colors. Great deli lineup of sandwich options. I had the Muffaletta but it was a hard choice between it, the Reuben and the New Yorker (corned beef instead of the Rueben's pastrami). Spectacular views out the enormous windows - and by the looks of it, live music is no stranger to the interior. In fact, We learned from Lee that he was a musician from way back - having played with the likes of Mike Mills (of R.E.M. fame) way back in the day when he was in Athens in 79/80. The things you learn! The biggest seller here is The Bainbridge - (Italian bread, Prov', Turkey, Ranch, then B-L-T with an onion). As awesome as it sounded, I still ended up with a great Muffaletta. Which is funny - because I'm not a Muffaletta guy. In general, I avoid olive spreads like the plague - but I'd read a few comments about the Muffaletta here and truly, it's very good. As sacrilegious as it is to utter, I'd stack it up against Central Grocery & Deli's muffaletta. There. I said it. Bottom line - for those of you (like us) from TLH that enjoy day trips to the nearby communities - Bainbridge is worth the trip and while you're here - The Bean is worth your time if a classic Deli is your thing. My wife and I happened upon this little gem while passing through Bainbridge GA. This family owned and operated business is a refreshing break from the cookie cutter type coffee and sandwich shops. Everything was very fresh and delicious, my wife and I split The South Italian, and my sister and brother in law each had the Bainbridge, all were great. We were passing through town on the way to the Florida panhandle. We had lunch at Crave (check my review) and decided to stop here for a beverage before getting back on the road. I wish we had eaten here. I have been through plenty of small towns and subsequently to plenty of bad "coffee shops." They call themselves coffee shops. So I did not have high hopes for the bean cafe. I was extremely surprised. This place is the total package. The decor is warm and inviting. The food and drink options are extensive and amazing. The staff is friendly and helpful. I only regretted that I had to hurry back on the road and not relax there for an hour or more. They do not have an extensive food menu as far as meals go, but what they did have looked delicious. I only hope I will have to go through Bainbridge some time in the future so I can stop here for a longer visit. read more

This town, downtown square and buildings are quaint and charming. Returning from a beach vacation, the eight of us decided to stop for coffee from an independent shop rather than drive on to a Starbucks. We ordered several drinks, fudge, waffle and breakfast sandwiches to go. There were at least 3 people working. The female barista with the dark hair was very nice and started out order. The young man who brought our food out to us was very friendly and thanked us. The lady with the blondish ponytail who finished taking our order was very impatient (there was no one in line besides us) and downright rude. As a coffee shop owner, I know how much service makes a difference. I hope she gets this feedback and understands what a poor impression she left us with. The sandwiches and waffle were very tasty. We will try the fudge later tonight. The espresso was mild and approachable, but not as full-bodied as we'd expect. read more
