I was driving to Bristol Florida and happened to pass tallahassee main attraction so my mom wanted to go through Quincy Florida where she grew up. I went for lunch on a Friday.... If you are in the area please stop and check them out. They are a hidden gem seriously. I ordered fried pork chops with greens and yellow rice and a roll. When I say in my first bit my cholesterol went through the roof, it was darn good and seasoned I didn't expect that at all . The pork chop was juicy and tender, the yellow rice with gravy chefs kiss and those greens soaked with some juice Lord have mercy. Amazing. I paired it with a sweet tea which was sweet. And I spied a cake in the corner so I had to try it couldn't leave without trying it so it was a 12 lever chocolate cake and that thing was soooooo delicious it was yellow cake and you can tell it was made homemade. The restaurant is quaint, friendly service with delicious food. If it were closer to Tallahassee, I easily would come once a week. It's that good. Sooooo good! My party was raving about this place all day after our lunch trip. I had the Salisbury steak special with mashed potatoes, rice, and a roll and my cousin had a made to order cheeseburger which she said is probably the best she's ever had at a restaurant. A sweet little mom and pop restaurant in "downtown" Quincy. I had an excellent steak there: tender, juicy and caramelized beautifully. They serve it with a homemade steak sauce but I found the steak delicious without it. The sides were tasty. My partner's eggplant parm was fine. We shared a slice of housemade key lime pie which was very good. The desserts in general looked amazing, with several layer cakes also offered. Service was friendly and the food was served in record time. No beer or wine, though I did see some patrons brought their own. Was in town to pick up an order of cookies from a bakery and decided to stop by this place for a bit of lunch. Was warmly greeted upon entering and found a table immediately. Not a big space, but just right - "quaint." There is also a small outdoor dining area in front of the restaurant. I ordered one of the lunch specials: Baked chicken, mashed potatoes (homemade), collard greens, and corn muffin. My daughter ordered the pulled port sandwich with fries (which seemed to be homemade). We both enjoyed our meals. Though my baked chicken was not as "moist" as I would have preferred, it was still quite tasty. Surprisingly, the wing and breast I had were of seemingly normal size and not overly big. The young man who waited on us was very nice. Though I expected the wait time to be less than it was in that the place wasn't really crowded at the time, we weren't in a rush and didn't mind the wait. After months of hearing about Big Papa's Chop House and seeing the posts on Facebook, we finally made our way to Quincy Florida to check it out. We called ahead to make reservations and I highly recommend you do the same. The Chop House seats around 60 and when we arrived there wasn't an empty seat in the House. We checked in and had a seat in the waiting area which was located at the front of the restaurant. While waiting to be seated at a table I took notice to the high ceiling and brick walls of the old building, wish I had asked the owner how long it had been standing. I noticed a rather large man walking around and stoping by tables to chat with the customers, I thought he may be the owner but I didn't want to assume. Our name was called out and we were seated, immediately a server was there to provide us with menus and take our drink orders. I later found out our server was the owners son, Garett (hope I spelled his name correctly). As we looked over the menu the rather large gentleman approached our table and asked how we were doing. After talking for about 5 minutes he wanted to know if I was a salesman lol, I get that a lot, I suspect for two reasons, one I never meet a stranger and two I have a beautiful wife, and I sold myself to her! Any way I was right, the rather large man was the owner, and at this point he pulled up a chair and sat with us and we began talking. We talked about food and smokers for which it would seem we both have a passion for. I shared pictures of smokers that I have built and some of the food that I have cooked which prompted him to share pictures of his smokers, BIG smokers. He had an amazing story of how he got started in the business and all of the charity work he has done. We talked about his wife of many years, his children and grandchildren. After a very informative and fun conversation Big Papa was up and checking other customers again. During our conversation our server Garett had taken our orders and based on Big Papa's recommendation we chose to start with the Fish Dip, try it, I promise you will not be disappointed! We also placed our entree orders each of which came with two sides and both were specials for the evening. My wife ordered the Peach Glazed Smoked Salmon with Bacon Wrapped Asparagus and Grilled Green Beans. I tried one of the green beans and WoW, they were fantastic. Fresh green beans seasoned tossed around on grill and served al dente. I ordered the 12 oz Ribeye which is normally served with four shrimp and sauce (I opted not to have a lot of sauce) baked potato and an iceberg wedge salad with blue cheese dressing. The steak was served to my request (Med Rare) and seasoned well. The wedge salad was topped with a generous portion of blue cheese, real bacon bits and a pleasure to eat. If you happen to be in Quincy or if you are just passing by, I highly recommend stopping by and have an unforgettable meal and great service at Big Papa's Chop House, you want be disappointed! read more

You will need to make a reservation because there is a wait and of course we had not made one but it was worth the 45 minute wait ! It started off with delicious rolls and honey butter yum. We were so thankful that the owner came out and told us about the prime rib and saved one for my hubs. Had an out of town guest visiting and took her to Papa's touting the smoked prime rib. Asked Davey if it was med rare. He noted he'd pulled it from the smoker at 119 degrees (Last time we visited, four of us ordered med rare prime rib and all 4 were medium). All three of us ordered medium rare prime rib. Two of us ordered wedge salads. Rolls and brown sugar butter always tasty. Our server brought our entrees and as she set them down, commented, "I forgot your wedge salads." We started eating and she brought salads. My rib was med well. The other two were medium. I should have sent mine back...but didn't. Shame on me. We enjoyed a couple wedges of the yellow cake with fudge icing. Took the untouched wedge salads home. Nice place, nice people.
