Right before you get to the trailers you have to pass the brand spankin' new Dollar General. But FUCK Dollar General- I shop local! And on this Support Small Business Saturday I chose to support Un Dollar Y Más store and taqueria. Yep my dollar store has a built in taqueria. How awesome is that?! Well I've been into the store and let me tell ya, they have everything made-in-china you can possibly desire! This time around I got me some Chola earrings #BabySmiley. The problem was I didn't have any cash on me cuz I used it on my lunch and tip at the taqueria so I was forced to buy $5 worth of junk so I can pay with my debit card. Actually I bought three rolls of wrapping paper cuz with my big fat Mexican family I'm probably gonna need it soon. I'll be back to buy more junk, and that Our Lady Of Guadalupe aereosol spray to scare all the demonios away! The taqueria is small and at first I was worried because I was the only one there, but soon enough people started coming in. By then I was 2/3 through with my bistek gordita (which was nearly perfect btw) and got to eyeball what everyone else was eating. The tacos looked really good! They sell barbacoa by the pound and they also serve menudo. Their. Salsa. Kicks. Ass.

Unlike the taco truck, they have burritos, caldos, parrilladas, and seafood. Unfortunately when we went, their caldo wasn't anywhere close to ready. Booooo! I settled for a picadillo gordita. It was generously stuffed with meat and gordita guts. I tried the carne guisada taco. It tasted like.......REAL carne guisada and not no beef tips swimming in gravy shit you get at Tex-Mex places. If you don't have cash you can pay at the front register of the Q-Way.

They have a meat market and sell some produce. Meat prices are not bad at all. This morning I got a Taco Combo from this place. I had gotten Tacos from San N Pac and their tacos are horrible. This place makes tacos fresh right in front of you. These tacos are full, bursting at the seams. I was offered fresh pico de gallo to go with my tacos. The tacos were awesome. This place leaves there pumps on 24 Hours, so you can get gas after they are closed. I think it is very cool they have a Slush Puppy machine. That brings back old memories. The service is always great. I am able to get in and get out when I go here. It is a little more out of the way than San n Pac but worth the trip.

Luckily for us, his recommendation was spot on as La Ola is a great little ice cream shop with a large variety of different cures to whatever your sweet tooth desires. Parking is pretty accessible as it's in a small strip of stores and restaurants and there's ample outdoor seating as well to take in a nice summer night. The interior of the store is also nice and clean, making you feel like you're in a well run place from the moment you step in. We ordered a banana pudding scoop in a cone and a scoop of the Cookie Monster in a cup. The line here moves pretty quickly which is good so we didn't have to wait long from the moment we entered to the moment we began eating outside. The ice cream was delicious. The banana pudding tastes just as advertised with chunks of Nilla wafer throughout the bites, incredibly spot on. The Cookie Monster also tasted great, essentially a cookies and cream scoop dyed blue, but why not have a bit of fun with it? The whole experience was great and if ice cream isn't your thing they have numerous other options like shakes and ice pops to get you by. The only ding we can think of is that the trash outside was overrunning and looked like it hadn't been changed in hours. Nevertheless, we're very glad we stopped by here to get a sweet treat and would highly recommend it to anyone in the far South Austin/Kyle area looking to cool off on a summer night.
