Excellent selection of fresh meets. Always so very helpful and kind when we go in. Love that they also offer other items to assist with finishing our dinner for the night so I don't have to run to the grocery as well. Great selection of homemade salsas, pickled items, and ALL the things. INCLUDING desserts. They even have had chopped beef sandwiches available the last few times we've been. EXCELLENT! We stopped here on a whim to check out their fresh meat and found that they also sell BBQ on Thurs to Sun. I opted for the BBQ pork ribs done Country Style. I opened them up at home and found that they weren't baby back ribs. They instead are BONELESS ribs with lots of meat, and little waste. We were delighted. I bought 2 lbs for one meal, but ended up freezing half for one meal, and half for another to make BBQ stuffed potatoes. They also sell various packages of meat for one price. They have the best selection of meats. Always Dutch with flavor, I absolutely enjoy coming into the shop! Don't have any plans for dinner? You can get it all here!! This small little meat market is awesome! They have a large meet counter with plenty of help behind the counter to help you. They offer a small assortment of canned goods. I live Bon Ton. I have been shopping here since they were in Kyle before the fire. They have exotic meats like Elk, bison, venison. Great sausages, local pork and lamb( sometimes) rabbit etc. Its a butcher with staple grocery items. Prices are ok. They run meat specials every week that ate great. read more

They had a full staff virtually zero wait,friendly,,professional, very clean. There is a good size parking lot very close to the front door, I worked retail for 20 years and I couldn't find one thing I didn't like . I don't eat steak often, so I have no idea about the price range each steak should be. I do know that at the Bon Ton you can easily spend $30 on just two steaks. They have seasoned chicken, beef, marinated fajita meat, tripas, bacon,and stuffed pork chops. I got excited when I saw the different types of seasonings including Tex Joy. They have a small selection of produce so if you live out in the sticks and don't want to drive all the way to HEB Plus for a tomato, you can just come here! Our $30 steaks were delicious, by the way. Coming back for those stuffed chops! Also, don't follow the Yelp map to this place because it will lead you into someone's farm. read more

Lately the butchers have been putting old hamburger meat into their 1lb freezer packages. I brought it to their attention that fresh meat was being wrapped around the older meat. I was given the excuse that they add no preservatives to their meat. It leaves me to question the honesty of this butcher shop. Meat gets old due to exposure of oxygen so how can the meat in the middle be dark while the outside is fresh, and red . it shouldn't be ,,,bad for business guys...... read more

This meat market is actually in Uhling, TX off of Hwy 21 just north of San Marcos. I have been buying my meat from this place now for years! I absolutly love everything about this place, the people, the meat, and they carry grocery itesm as well! I went here last week, to stock my chest freezer, the butcher was actually getting ready to go home. When I asked the young lady behind the counter if I could get 40 rib eyes, the butcher put his apron back on and said "give me 15 - 20 minutes?" Of course I said yes. I had my own cooler and they gave me a bag of ice to put on top to keep it cool until I got home. The meat here is quality meat and the service is what old fashoned folk like me want. Heard about this place from the person we bought our home from. It is nearby and I am so happy to have a FRESH meat market to purchase my meats from. So far I have tried the BEST fajitas I have bought in years, the chorizo is pretty special too. The marinated chicken, roast and ground round have been very fresh and I will become one of their loyal locals! The market itself if clean and the staff very helpful. It is located out in the boonies but easy to find. It is actually located in UHLAND, TX a very small town. This place is great! I've been to other meat markets in the area that fail at providing a great piece of meat. They also have great customer service, the second I walked into Bon Ton Market I was greeted by the Butchers and had both of them tending to my requests. The meat, Pork, Chicken was some of the freshest meat I've ever found besides killing it myself. They also have Freezer Packs that are loaded with meats starting at $100 and goes up to $200 but it's a Ton of meat. You have to order it a day in advance and it's all Fresh. I love this place and will use them for all my Meat Purchases. Way Fresher than HEB and about the same price and way better than Walmart. Sams or Costco meat. Located just off FM 150 in Kyle, this hidden gem surrounded by corn fields sells some of the most mouth watering cuts of beef I've ever put on my grill. Garlic sausage- excellent. The chorizo is okay, I am a little suspicious about why it is so red though! Food coloring? I am a little disappointed that there are several seasoned pan sausages, but no plain ground pork. Everything else is great, though, and the folks that work there are really nice. I am happy that our rural-ish area has a country store like this. Edit: The red is not from paprika. I am very familiar with making chorizo, but this red is bright and does not fade when cooking like paprika would. It's a little unnatural-looking. read more

I first heard about this place from reading a newspaper that covers Hays county and had to check it out to see their selection. It only takes me a few more minutes to get there compared to going to HEB. It is an easy place to find, right on Highway 21 on east side of the road, Uhland. They got a nice selection of meats but not quite everything I was hoping to see, which includes Cornish hen but then again I've only seen it at Central Market. I did get some of their smoked sausage and jalapeno smoked sausage (1 link each, total less than $5.00), they were good but not knock outs like I'm always in the hunt for. I still plan on trying their other sausages, jalapeno wraps, ribeyes, and gonna stop there before I make myself hungry. read more

Family oriented store. I bought the freezer pack and the sausage is some of the best I've had since my grandpa used to make it from scratch. Burger patties are nice and thick, marinated and full of flavor. Watch out when you bite in, they hold in the juice.. it burns! read more

Spend your money SOMEWHERE ELSE! I took a buck in to have sausage made - 1/2 mild and 1/2 jalapeno cheese. After getting home, I opened the box and discovered that the sausage was bagged in gallon ziplocs. I'm pretty sure vacuum sealing is an assumed thing in the meat processing realm - I've had deer done at mom & pop places that vacuum sealed. This stuff is sure to freezer burn before I can use it all. The worst part is, THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME ALL MY MEAT! I called back and was told, the other half had been left in the freezer. Seems like pretty basic business practice to note the amount of boxes being picked up on the invoice, doesn't it! I drove a total of 64 miles that day to get the rest of my order.
