Mad Rag - loving my new two glasses I'm in love with this store

Oh Mad Rags! How I sing thee praises! I have been telling girlfriends about this place for months…read morenow. This is the cheapest store with the most fashionable clothing I have found in I don't know how long. It puts Dots and 5-7-9 to shame! Today I purchased two button down shirts (one in black and one in white) for EIGHT DOLLARS! Tee shirts are around $4, and if you are a really teeny tiny person, there was a pair of jeans there (around size two or zero) for TWO BUCKS! They have plus size clothing there, as well as hats and makeup, and bras, and underwear, and dresses, and jewelry, and...well, it's worth the trip out there. I have not seen anything in this store that is over twenty dollars. I never leave without a bag in my hands, which is always dangerous. Words to the wise: The sizes can tend to run very small there. I am a small jacket size, and bought an awesome jacket there for three bucks, but it was a large. So if you are going to try something on, take at least one size up in addition to your regular size with you. Also, it takes forever in the dressing room, and you are only allowed to try on four things, so have patience. There has been times when the store is really busy that I have had to wait as much as fifteen minutes to try on something. If you are a cheapo out of necessity like me, this is a must go to place!!!!!

My favorite store I always go here when I can and they have really great prices and always always…read moreleave satisfied

As I was perusing downtown New Bedford, the window displays of For Veda caught my eye and I had to go in. I'm so glad I did! Cute dresses, tops, skirts and pants are neatly displayed in tasteful racks in a gorgeous, boudoir-ish space with deep blue walls and frilly details. I was lucky enough to snag an adorable mint green polka dot sundress before it flew out of the store - it was the last one left. The sales girl was friendly, helpful and fun to be with - she was totally encourages trying stuff on, having a ball and signing up for their loyalty-rewards program (for every $20 spent, you get a stamp, and for twenty stamps, you get a discount). So, if your in downtown NB, looking for some fun, girly items and up for a good time, hit up For Veda, for sho'.

You can definitely notice the transformation that is happening on this stretch of Purchase Street in the heart of the historic part of the city, which features a handful of cool shops and eateries. Among them, For Veda is a standout. This manageable space (a single room, with one dressing room) is filled with lovely and unique clothing and accessories. You won't be overwhelmed by volume upon entry; rather, you are able to dive deeply into the many special pieces that are there. The owner, Tessa, is sweet and welcoming. She used to work at a couple of restaurants in the neighborhood, and still shows her former employers her support. If you bring a receipt from Cork or Rose Alley Ale House, you get a 5% discount off your purchase. On my last visit, I got a very cute red, white and blue striped maxi skirt at an end-of-season discount. While the store offers a sale rack, full price items are also quite reasonably priced. Yet another reason to head to New Bedford for a day of shopping: shop owners really do have regular, working folks in mind - and the prices of some fabulous pieces truly reflect that. If you're exploring the Whaling City for the day, or en route to Cape Cod, and you're the type that gets inspired by beautiful and on-trend clothing, you should spend some time in this pretty, stylish shop.

Back then, their things were aimed more toward a younger crowd, but I'd have to say that they've reall stepped up their game, and target a 20-something crowd now. That being said, I was invited last minute to a wedding, and I really was in need of some cheap-but-cute jewelry to go with my dress. I decided I would try Claire's first, since I knew the price tag would be right, even all these years later. I entered the Dartmouth Mall around 8:30, leaving me about a half hour of shopping time before closing. That being said, when I got to Claire's, there was only one girl working. She had the little gate that closes off the store halfway down, and was standing at the enterance to the store. As I walked in, she sighed loudly, and rolled her eyes at me when I glanced at her. I was immediately put off and offended, and voiced it by saying, "Okay, I'll go elsewhere then." She responded, "No, it's okay. Are you looking for anything special? I just cleaned." Having had a past in retail, I understand it's annoying to have last minute shoppers in the store when you want to close, but people do work late and may only be able to get to the store at that time... it's just a part of the job. I was extremely shocked that this girl just came out and basically said I don't want you messing up the store I just cleaned. I get that it was probably her first job, as she looked young, but come on. Some things you just keep to yourself. I quickly told her that I was just going to browse and left the store in a huff. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere and will continue to take my business elsewhere. I give the store two stars because you cannot base your review on one employee... but some peope will do just that, and word of mouth does a lot of damage.
