It was non stop after that. We were living nearby for the year so I had ample opportunity to make purchases and I did. We also shopped a few place that year far from Falmouth when the occasion warranted, larger selection in cities when visiting others. But many special things came from Caline's. As I had another child later that year, who would need newborn sizes in summer clothes rather the already owned winter newborn choices I had ample opportunities to return. I was also able to buy for baby gifts for others. Whenever we return to Falmouth, we also ways take a peek at their store. This was no exception. It was full of stylish, practical child choice in a wide range of sizes, along with cute baby goods and gift treats. And fall and winter well covered in late September. The two staff members we talked to were very pleasant and confirmed for me that the store was still locally owned, currently the 4th owner since its founding over 4 decades ago. They did not have the sort of hat we had purchased long ago, because I doubt they are still commercially made. But a really good choice for a kid back then. And if I was looking for clothes for a kid today, there were many well known and well made brands to choose from.

They also have an excellent tailor and a great sale room in back. Very current clothes and chic--which is expensive. Maxwells is a destination boutique that draws from far away and has a loyal clientele. That it is near tee shirt shops does not make it bad--just surprising. I have had many great purchases there and love it.

Instead, I found 3 tops, really pretty and only $44 for the total. If I weren't in a rush I would have loved to look around more and would have likely bought out half the store. The line was a bit long, but do-able. The cashier was friendly. Falmouth has a no plastic bag policy, so this store provides brown paper gift bags, which makes you feel like you've shopped at a boutique. I don't live nearby, but when I visit, I'll likely make a point of stopping here! (It's like the nicest TJMaxx ever.)
