Called office to find out we are not on schedule!! Having driven past this place many times, I decided to stop in and give it a shot. I was pleasantly suprised! The prices are great and the portions are big! We tried the Booey's Platter, 3 pancakes, and a side of bacon. Everything tasted amazing! Eating in was pleasant, but know that the atmosphere inside is more fast food-ish than eating breakfast somewhere like IHOP. This will definitely be my new breakfast spot from now on. Decent diner/deli-style restaurant, but nothing that really stood out. I had an appointment for my son nearby and wanted to get us launch before taking him back to camp and this seemed fast and easy. It was definitely fast and easy. He got a hamburger, chocolate chip cookie and milk. I got the Reuben. Getting milk was a nice touch, they actually went back and poured it into cup for him since they didn't have any individual packaged things. His hamburger was also pretty yummy. He didn't finish it and so I had a few bites. Not the best hamburger ever, but not too salty and stilly yummy with a decent soft bun. The seasoned potato wedges instead of fries also kicked it up a notch. The Reuben was only OK. The pastrami was a bit tough, the other toppings were pretty bland, and it wasn't particularly big. The seating area has a lot more in common with a McDonalds or other fast food restaurant than a diner/deli, even if the menu targets the latter. Overall, it's in between 3 and 4 stars, but the hamburger and convenience push me more toward 4. read more

Tasty Neighborhood Deli! I visited today-this longtime DC Deli! It's located in the Friendship Heights neighborhood. The menu above the service counter offers many deli sandwiches options. I ordered the "Tuna Turner" (homemade albacore tuna, lettuce, tomato, salad veggies (carrots/alfalfa sprouts), on a kaiser roll.) A tasty sandwich full of fresh ingredients. The tuna tender, flavorful, veggies crisp, the roll moist. My only complaint: the roll overwhelms the tuna flavor. Next time it I'll order a croissant. Prompt courteous customer service. This is a reliable spot for a quick, warm, filling breakfast! Prices are low and the portion sizes are good. Additionally, the coffee is very good and they will give you lots of cream and sugar if you ask! Pros: -Good prices--everything pictured costs around $11, and it's a pretty decently sized coffee--probably a grande by Starbucks standards -Quality food: the food here is always reliably good. I especially like the home style-2 pieces of French toast, scrambled eggs, home-fries and 2 pieces of bacon (that vegetarian dog owners should be happy to share!) They also provide ample butter cups :) -Delivery options: always seem to have good deals in uber eats! Food comes exactly as ordered, they follow specific notes imputed into app, and delivery times are great ! No cons, really! Once or twice I felt that the potatoes/home-fries were a little over seasoned, but I'm nitpicking. Overall a great spot got a good breakfast! read more

So happy to once again be having a great meal at Booey's!! I had been eating at Booeymongers since maybe '80 or '81. Fell in love with the specialty sandwich called the Manhattan. The sandwich, with an extra side of house dressing, chips and a fountain soda were as close to a perfect quick meal as I ever had. Wether for lunch or at 1:00 AM on the way home from Georgetown / downtown, it was always a great meal. Was a loyal customer at all of their locations until, unfortunately, the original owners decided to take a break and sell the business. Totally understood the reasons for the sale as working your ass off for decades takes a toll and I had hoped that the new owners would not try to "re-invent the wheel" shall we say. Stick with what made the place successful and so on.... excellent quality food and service. Sadly, the decline started shortly after the sale as the new owners let go of all of the former staff, started using cheaper cuts of meat and increased the prices. New staff were, with a few exceptions, pretty unfriendly, the locations were dirty and most troubling was the "mystery pricing" on many items not listed on the menu or that the menu price was different then what was charged. Ultimately gave up and have not eaten there in quite some time. Was no shock that all the locations eventually closed down. While some will blame Covid, the decline started before the pandemic. Well, I had heard that one of the original owners, Ron, and some of his former staff, had become involved in re-opening the FH location. Had a chance to eat their twice over the past few weeks. Absolutely fantastic!! Shop was clean, sandwich (Manhattan of course!!) was amazing and staff were pleasant. So great to know that Booeymongers is back to serving some of the best sandwiches in the area. Wish the best of luck to the present ownership/management team!! read more

Came here for lunch. I ordered the avocado toast without bacon and without cheese and I added a fried egg. What I got was a wrong order and not at all what I expected. The bread was topped with cold cheese, lettuce, tomato, eggs, and sliced avocado served with a pickle. So bizarre. I would not call this avocado toast. There was no seasoning. It is a fifth of what it use to be. When I was an AU Student then employee this was one of the places to go ...Are there new owners? . The sandwiches each time I go are lackluster. Booeymonger, you will always have a place in my childhood memory, but have lost your place in my adulthood. Once known for their delicious sandwiches and wraps, salads, and crispy potato wedges, they are no longer the same place that was institutionalized by the residents of Chevy Chase. I remember eating here for lunch at least 3 times a week with my father, ordering their delicious turkey, sprout, avocado sandwich on fresh French bread, breakfast platters with incredible home fries, the booeywrap chock full of juicy, flavorful chicken and feta cheese. Since I was in the area, I decided to give their Booeywrap a spin since the taste is still embedded in my brain. First bite, hot, flavorful, crunchy? I thought they had put bacon in my wrap, but it was disgusting BURNT chicken. Like the kind that you scrape off the burner to the side. The rest of the chicken was really dry and overcooked. This was not an exaggeration. One of the top carcinogens is burnt meat, ugh! I picked most of it out of my wrap and just ate it I was so hungry. Super disappointed. The wedge fries are still undeniably addicting, but I will not be returning to Booey again. Some things are better kept as memories. read more

What a bargain, and it was really nice bread, not your thin, commercial food service kind. With a hot cup of tea it's just over five bucks. My friend enjoyed her bacon and eggs. Service was fast and efficient. This was my first time in a Booeymongers, and like alexis g.'s former coworker, I always thought it was called Boogeymongers too! I can now understand why Panera next door only had three customers dining in their place and this place was crowded (but not packed). Finding a table was no problem. This place should have higher ratings. I've always felt like this place really adds a sense of home to the Friendship Heights community. This area is already a beautiful place, and Booeymonger helps make it feel more like home. The food options are geared towards a deli-style sandwiches & breakfast/brunch menu. Friendship Heights... lots of change, with stores and restaurants coming and going, but there's one thing that endures on the corner of Wisconsin and Jenifer... and that's Booeymonger. It's one of those classic places that may not have much character but consistently puts out some decent lunch fare. My go-to here is the Booey Wrap - grilled chicken breast, lettuce, tomatoes, and feta wrapped in a spinach tortilla and served with crispy potato wedges. The grilled chicken was hot and juicy, and there's a good amount of feta in there, making for a wrap large enough to fill you up. The potato wedges come out hot-hot-hot, steaming when you break one in half. Be careful! The place itself is rather forgettable, from the layout and décor to the not particularly welcoming people behind the counter, but you don't go to Booeymonger for the service, and you don't go for the atmosphere... you just go for a quick, solid lunch at a reasonable price when you happen to find yourself in a part of town that has surprisingly few good lunch options. read more

This is a location that's gone through many trials and tribulations throughout the years. Every now and then I had seen signs posted on the door that indicate a risk of this place closing. To this day, I'm very glad it hasn't. Of all the Booeymonger locations that I know of, this one in particular has a special place in the neighborhood that it's in. The food is really good, the employees have worked there a long time and are very friendly. The ambiance could use a little work, but everything else about the place makes up for it. I hope that Booeymonger in Friendship Heights stays open for a lot longer. read more

I was an intern one fine summer in 1989 in Washington...at one of the well established radio stations that was situated in Friendship Heights (a clue-they broadcasted the Redskins for many years before sports radio was a concept...). This was our place for lunch...and a good sammich it is. If a goober/ Congressional Intern from Des Moines went in there and thought it was a Jewish deli, I wouldn't necessarily want to kick him in the plums for being a total ignoramus...it has that vibe. I spent a lot of money here that summer...and quite a bit of money at Merriweather Post Pavilion and the Bijou (long gone..) for concerts. DC used to be a pretty cool city; gentrification has whitewashed most of it away which is rather sad (it really did have some great unique hangouts...now it's just so sterile) Booeymonger is a reminder of my time there...there are few relics left. read more

This place is close to where i work and we came here the other day for lunch with some co workers. Even though im a vegetarian, i love that the menu is huge and has a good variety for everyone. Im not sure they are vegan friendly though. They have breakfast and lunch all day. The prices are very reasonable. The wait is not too long either. I usually get the veggie special. The other vegetarian item is the cold wrap which isnt bad but i looove the veggie sandwich. It has peppers, onions, mushrooms and looots of cheese on a baguette. On a cold day its a perfect lunch. I had a tough time with this place, but it wasn't horrible. Found a small bug in my fountain drink - my dad said it was extra protein. The food was ... not incredible, but not terrible. I got some kind of italian sandwich that had some of the tastiest, freshest bread I've ever tasted with extra peppers on the side. It was great. The table's "flip-me-over-to-know-you-ate-here" sanitation page was kind of gross. The cashier (and I assume one cook) were working their tails off and I was impressed. Cold, pre-made or marinated, and way undercooked hard potatoes. The bacon was an atrocity. You used to use a Black Forest type of cut but now its microwave quality. The French toast tasted like a scrambled egg fried into a piece of lame sliced white bread. I mean the cook didn't have the decency to let some of the egg mix soak in smh. First! My family and I have been enjoying BooeyMonger sanwiches for years!!! since the 90's. Today I decided to get a few classic sandwiches . ALL and I mean ALL sandwiches were not the classic taste i'm familiar Booemonger to have. The food was poorly seasoned, overcooked or stale in taste. I tried calling the location 15times and no one answered. $45 later i will NEVER order from them again. New cooks in the kitchen or Covid cooks made the food taste nothing like the historic taste Im use to. Not only is the food poorly executed ..the dynamic of the in dining restaurant is bad energy. The history of Patty Hearst in my life. Knew she was kidnapped and later was wanted by the FBI. During my college years she came into my life in the form of a delicious turkey sandwich with cheese and bacon which is all smothered generously, but not obscenely, with Russian dressing. It was served on an English muffin, but I would always ask for the substitute French roll. In more recent years Patty is now on the menu with a French roll so we don't have to custom order perfection. Extremely reasonable prices. Unique variety of sandwiches (with great names like Gatsby Arrow (roast beef), Fifth Avenue (pastrami) and others). Last night I was tired on the metro out of DC towards Shady Grove. Even though I'm limping due to recent knee surgery i got off at Friendship Heights... headed to the restaurant and picked up my Patty Hearst. Waited 30 minutes for the next train (no reviews of the metro system needed!!). Biting into the sandwich made it all worth while.
