Nova Combo

Delicious food, friendly staff, and lovely restaurant interior. I went in for takeout but will for sure come back to dine in. The person running the pick up counter was charming and knowledgeable. I'm visiting family in Silver Spring and they requested a healthy and fresh lunch. The salmon in the nova combo was great, and you could tell the capers were fresh. For sure recommend for an appetizing lunch!

I stopped in for breakfast this morning, and--as always--it was amazing. It was pretty busy, so things were a bit slower than usual, but that's completely understandable and on us for not planning our timing better. The food and atmosphere were still fantastic. The only thing I'm disappointed about is the whitefish appetizer I ordered to go. For the last three visits, the portion has been much smaller than it used to be--surprisingly small. I should have checked it before leaving, but I didn't want to make a fuss. I really love this item and don't want to stop ordering it, so I hope the portions return to what they once were. Still, Parkway Deli remains one of my favorite spots, and I'll definitely be back.

What an institution. For years, I've heard stories about this deli inside a strip mall just across the D.C.-Maryland border. On New Years Day, I popped in since it was open. There was a line to get into their restaurant. The deli counter was busy, but after ordering their famous Reuben sandwich with pastrami, I was eating within minutes. And wow- their Reuben was delicious. The rye bread got a little soggy due to the Russian dressing, but the flavors were well balanced. I'd go back for sure!

Great neighborhood spot. Everything is amazing!!

Parkway is an institution. I've brunched and carried out from this place for decades. My experience yesterday left a lot to be desired. The food was great (French toast and eggs-- I ordered bacon but that never came), but the server seemed irritated and made the experience unpleasant. I hope to never be in his section again.

I read somewhere this place has the best pastrami in MD so we decided to make a trip out of it Let me tell you it was worth the drive. I got the Delight and hubs the Rueben. They were similar except mine had coleslaw instead of kraut and Munster instead of Swiss. Loved them both but I think the Ruben was the winner. Enjoyed the pickle bar with the beets and half sours. Had a black and white on the way out. Oh yeah tried the chicken matzo ball soup. 1st timer and I thought it was really good. We moved from west coast this year and this place just oozes east coast vibes. I love this place I'll def be back. Only bummer was we ordered fries with the Ruben and they never came. Didn't matter tho we were stuffed.

I've tried their Pastrami and Corned Beef Reuben sandwich and onion rings. Their food is good- cooked well, mild, and overall flavorful. I especially enjoyed their onion rings - as a big fan, it's hard to find good onion rings these days!! The space is surprisingly deep and expansive, old-fashioned, and the customer service is great. Parking is overall easy, but there can be a lot of traffic depending on the time of day. I'd recommend!

Hot Corned & Beef Pastrami "twin" sandwich. Onion rings for the "side."

So, their set up is seamless. I initially went into done at the restaurant, located in the back. I was too hungry to wait, so did "take-out" instead. By the time my order was ready, I saw the line to dine in was no more. They'd seated everyone. I should have know they were on point when I saw a car with a New York license plate. A true NYer, at this "Deli" in DC?!? YEP! This restaurant was it!! There is a full beer, wine and snack store in the front, on the left side, the deli and desserts on the right side. The restaurant is in the back. So, as stated, I had my order to go. I ordered the twin deli on a Kaiser roll - one half pastrami, the other half corned beef, onion rings for the side, and a pickle. When I tell you EVERYTHING was delicious. It was delicious. I will say, the pastrami was my favorite. I LOVE pastrami!! Corned beef was tender, not dry. I'll say this... I have NEVER, had more delicious onion rings in my life!! Have you ever had a juicy onion ring before? Never have I ever. Ambiance was nice, very clean presenting. Staff was personable, friendly, extremely competent. I highly recommend.

There aren't a lot of old school delis in the DMV so Parkway gets deserved love. And the pickle bar is cool! The nova lox platter was good and reasonably priced. The matzoh ball soup with chicken is very good and full of flavor!

Parkway Deli and Restaurant crafts the finest deli food in town. We had a large group meet there over the weekend. They were so friendly and the service was awesome. Our group hadn't seen each other in a while and our waitress was so kind. She had to come back several times before we were ready to order. She stayed so pleasant and got all of our orders correct. I ordered the nova lox platter. It was filled with hand cut nova lox, that was delicious. There was cream cheese, capers, tomatoes, onion, olives, and lettuce. I was in heaven. My friends all ordered omelettes. They loved them. Before, I left I ordered corned beef, turkey, and two kinds of cookies. Everything was perfect. I had sandwiches for days and the cookies passed my granddaughters taste test. They were mouthwatering and delicious. Everything was reasonably priced and it was phenomal. Parkway Deli and restaurant sets the standard for what a deli should be. I wholeheartedly recommend them.

Vegi omelette with hash browns. Side of salsa (spicy!). Was so filling, brought half of the omelette, potatoes and bagel home.

I loved eating in the open bay. But they also have a patio & are family & dog friendly. I order most of the brunch specials: -espresso martini affogato (was so so, a bit too strong but I'm usually a Bellini girl) -challah Nutella stuffed French toast (sooo good! I usually love waffles but these were cooked perfectly aka not soggy & very flavorful) I would get this again -Chesapeake Benedict (Loved it, all meat, no filler in the crabs) -Salmon omelette -Shrimp & grits

My African American military family arrived at 11:00 a.m. sharp on Father's Day. I mention "military family" because I want to paint an accurate picture: we weren't a loud or unruly group. We were five adults, five well-behaved children, and two infants looking to enjoy brunch together. The restaurant was completely empty. Not "a few open tables" empty--completely empty. No one was even sitting at the bar. When we told the hostess we didn't have a reservation, she went to get a manager. What struck me immediately was how flustered he became the moment he saw our group. He came out red-faced, visibly agitated, and immediately launched into how they were completely booked and there was "no way" he could seat a party of 12. We even asked if we could split into two groups of six and were met with the same response: impossible. We stood there looking at an entirely empty restaurant while being told there was absolutely no way we could be accommodated. The whole interaction was honestly bizarre. Confused, we simply said "okay" and started walking away. As we were already down the sidewalk, a hostess came after us and explained that we could sit on the patio, which was first-come, first-served. We could order through a QR code and have food brought to us. That was completely fine with us. In fact, with children and infants, the patio was arguably a better option anyway. The truth is, by that point we stayed more out of convenience than anything else. Getting five children and two infants back into three separate vehicles and finding another restaurant felt like more of a hassle than it was worth. Looking back, I wish we had simply left. Which raises the obvious question: if the patio was available all along, why wasn't that the manager's response from the beginning? Why did he act as though seating us was impossible instead of simply saying, "Our indoor dining is reserved, but you're welcome to sit outside"? I do not make accusations of racism lightly. However, after reflecting on the experience, I cannot escape the conclusion that race played a role in how my family was treated. The manager's reaction upon seeing our group, his immediate insistence that there was "no way" to seat us despite an empty restaurant, and the fact that available seating existed all along created an experience that felt unmistakably exclusionary. The interaction nagged at me throughout the meal, especially when my children and nieces and nephews started asking, "Why didn't the restaurant want us to eat here? The place is empty?" That's not a conversation I expected to have with children on Father's Day. When we left about 90 minutes later, both the dining room and patio were still far from full. I counted 8 open tables inside and 5 open tables on the patio at 12:30. I understand reservations. I've dined all over the world. But Moreland's is not a Michelin-starred restaurant with a months-long waitlist. It's a neighborhood pub--closer to an upscale Applebee's than fine dining. Yet somehow my family was made to feel unwelcome from the moment we walked through the door. After years of being a customer, that is deeply disappointing.
