I got to the area early. I had class scheduled at CYCLEBAR. Instead of sitting in my car doing mindless scrolling, I decided to walk around for some fresh air. Every time I see a bookstore, I must stop by. Every time I stop into a bookstore, I must purchase a book. A cozy and intimate bookstore to satisfy your literacy minds whether it'd be for your children, a gift, or for yourself. I originally wanted to search for a book titled, "Embrace Your Edge" by Hang Thi Yen Black. She was a guest speaker who spoke at my company a 2-3 weeks ago, but my phone did not have good reception, so I started browsing what I think would be a good read instead. The ladies behind the counter were really sweet and genuine in our exchanges. They both explained to me that if I bring the book back w/in 4 months in good condition, I'll receive $9 credit towards a new purchase. I thanked them for letting me know, but I'm building my personal library and will never sell or donate my books. I have almost 100 books to my name, and I cannot wait to buy more, read more. I walked in after completing my purchase next door at Leigh's. I was greeted and began to browse the books and toys. The store had a lot of books, educational toys, LEGO's, and unique gift ideas. I asked the young lady if they had any Spanish book and she let me know the selection was small since they didn't sell much. She showed me a Spanish edition Harry Potter book and I held on to it. She showed me the Harry Potter books in English and also showed me the section of Harry Potter themed items. The young lady let me know that they sold Usborne which is not sold at large retailers. They had a large selection of Usborne books. I really liked the wipe clean workbooks. I purchased both the English and Spanish Harry Potter book (the first one). Overall happy with my purchase and the array of items. My kiddo loved the store and all the LEGOs. I definitely enjoyed browsing the store and will keep it in mind when browsing for a new book or a gift for the kiddos. read more

I was quite disappointed with the lack of books containing LGBTQ+ family representation and diversity in gender roles at this store. We usually go to Leigh's next door for our own books, which is great. However, we recently attended a baby shower where the parents had requested books that promote diversity and inclusion. I asked two people who worked there on separate days, why they didn't have such books and they both said "we have things based on requests." Why someone would have to request that in the Bay Area is beyond me, living in such a diverse area, but who knows. So I left with a stack of books that (over $200) seemed to not really hit the mark. Most books are priced $18.99. Anyways, I ended up returning almost all of them and went up to the city to buy the books requested at Fabulosa Books. I do still think this bookstore is cute and worth supporting, but it really has room to grow in some areas. read more

Super-friendly service! I needed a particular toy for my son's birthday next week, and my online order from one of those big places got canceled! Adorable little store - good selection of children's books, including excellent condition used copies of classics like Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. They also carry toys, with lots of great gift options, such as educational games, puzzles, and a huge selection of Playmobil for the younger set. Very quiet on a weekday, but I imagine they are a lot busier evenings and weekends this time of year. Another bonus: complimentary gift wrap! So choose your gifts, then have them wrapped while you grab a froyo next door! This bookstore is so colorful! My boyfriend and I were out killing time in Downtown Sunnyvale earlier today before a Yelp Elite event and we stumbled into this bookstore. Bookasaurus is actually next to another bookstore that is catered to adults and young adults and these two shops are combined. The lady that worked there (owner maybe?) she's so sweet! She was welcoming and made small talk as well as recommend some children's books she enjoyed. Not only do they have books, they had a variety of toys and trinkets like scratch n' sniff stickers to xylophones. They also had toys that can help with child development like DIY crafts and puzzles. A big plus was that they carried Melissa & Doug brand toys. My favorite! Another great thing is that they buy books. Children's books or any other genre. If you have books stashed away you don't open up anymore, I say you should bring them here! You can use their store credit in Bookasaurus or the shop next door. Pretty neat and useful! The only independent bookstores in Sunnyvale and they're awesome! read more

I love this store!! I was so excited when I found out a children's book store was opening in Sunnyvale; especially since we just had a baby. They have a wonderful selection of both new and used books along with a reading area in the back of the store. I have purchased a few books, greeting cards and thank you cards so far. The longer of it: Leigh's and Bookasaurus are life-saving antidotes to the big box or e-scroll transactional approach to books. A kid should be so lucky to stroll down Murphy after a family dinner al fresco or farmer's market outing to browse deliciously crisp ink-and-cotton pages and pictures. It's a brain candy store. At the very least, a kid can get a gift from this place - snazzily gift-wrapped, lovingly culled, and promising delightful recreation. I bought the cutest little stuffed animal lamb here after seeing a few in the window. This is an adorable bookstore that is owned by the same people as the bookstore next door. They specialize in books and toys for children, with the selection starting with those for babies in the back and progressively getting older towards the front of the store. They also offer free gift wrapping! I really liked the selection, which seemed to be very tastefully and thoughtfully procured. I'll definitely be back for a visit the next time I want to make a purchase for a kid's present. read more

Excellent book/toy store for your little ones! If you have some shopping to do and would like a book or educational toy for children, this is the place to go! They have a great selection of books and good quality toys (the wooden kind!). They also have used books in addition to new ones. My niece loves this store, she can wander around and explore. This is a tiny locally owned childrens toy and book store located on historic murphy avenue in downtown sunnyvale, which is more known for it's bars, restaurants with bars, coffee bars and bars that have bars. thus finding a little gem of a children's book/playstore was all the more amazing. There is plentiful parking close by, assuming that you can't find a spot on murphy street itself, there's surface lots behind the building, and well, just about everywhere within a two block radius. This is a smaller store-tiny even-so there isn't really an opportunity to get lost in the stock. However they have made excellent use if the space available. The items available are of excellent quality. They are mostly aiming for the younger crowd-toddler up to about ten year old, once you start getting in to the tweens this store won't do -except for some of the books. Pricing is for the most part quite competitive. The Schleich figures in particular seemed more then fair. All in all a small well stocked store, chock full of childhood whimsy. read more

Always a great experience! I've come here after I had lunch in the area (lots of restaurants). The lady that runs the store is very friendly and gives great suggestions. I've had great advice on some games for long airplane rides for my twin girls as well as some books to read. Games like "Spot It", "Story Cubes", coloring books, and "Step Into Reading" books. Easy to stow in a carry-on bag and great to keep the little ones entertained on a 5 hr flight. There are so many other items kids would enjoy like cute aprons, toys, and dress up wear. read more

Just had a very lovely experience here tonight. My daughter is 4 and she loved it! The owner is extremely friendly and her husband is starting a gluten-free bakery! Can't wait to try more of his creations (we got a secret taste of chocolate chip cookie that was SO GOOD). They have a surprisingly large selection of toys, books and costumes and it's in a great location. We got froyo next door while she wrapped the gift we bought and she delivered it to us while we were there! Such great customer service. We will definitely go back! read more

Our family was so excited when Leigh's Favorite Books expanded their children's section into a whole new store! The store is full of light and color, and has a great selection of new and used books. They also have lots of fun doodads, craft supplies, and puppets. The staff is extremely helpful, and can order any book they don't have in stock (and they offer a discount on special orders). We haven't been to a story time yet (Tuesdays at 10:30am; Saturdays at 1pm), but we're looking forward to checking it out. I've shopped at Leigh's Favorite Books (right next door) for a few years now, and I can't say enough good things about Leigh and her stores. Both are definitely worth a visit. read more
