Very poor service. I had been shopping at this store for over 10 years and this year I have had the worst ever service. They don't call and inform you despite taking your number down when they have held an item for you. To them whoever pays money first they honor that which agreed is classic business principle. But then 10 years of being a repeat customer there is no such thing as customer satisfaction towards loyal customers - all of this is out through the door. To the owner if you can't honor something don't promise. Never returning to this store for any future purchase. You lost a loyal customer today which to you of course is not a deal breaker. They are the place we always go for Golu dolls and other pooja items. Good selection and when compared to other Bay Area Indian arts/pooja stores, this place has comparable or better prices and is MUCH better arranged/cleaner. I understand the prices may be high compared to India or online, but that's not fair because they have to provide for a brick and mortar business in the USA (in an expensive market). I read most of the reviews for this place before I went there. Most of them were surprising to me. I still had to go here to get some Diwali decor stuff. So, I enter the shop and I get a man assigned to walk behind me. Strangely, I told him that I don't need any help and I will call him if I need any. He still chose to walk behind me. Like someone mentioned, probably because he wanted to make sure that I don't shoplift? Then there is 0% customer service and they aren't even attempting to be nice to those who come in to shop/see and I see why they do this as they don't have much of competition in the bay area and customer doesn't have a choice but to go here again. Now the above point leads to their pricing strategy. Well, there isn't any strategy at all it's all insanely priced, so expensive that if I end up shipping them from india, it would be a lot cheaper! I visited this store recently and was impressed at the way they have improved from my last visit in 2014. They have better collection of golu dolls, the clay dolls were very beautiful and they have a decent collection of return gifts as well. Main negative was the customer service .. they were over-protective about the display items and were constantly watching making sure that they are not mis handled .. understand the concern but this type of customer service will shy away customers in Bay Area or anywhere in USA. Also, Some of the dolls were priced right , some were extremely pricey. I-mart is a unique Indian store with authentic indian art pieces. I visited their store to look for idols for bommala kolluvu for sankranthi and return gifts items. They had excellent collection and everyone at my kollu asked me where I got those beautiful collection of idols from. Also i bought little Ganesh'a made with Terracorra as return gift items and they were a big hit with everyone. Many of my friends called me to ask where I purchased these from and how cute they were. I went here recently to buy golu dolls and noticed the following 1. Hostile place - the guy has no PR skills! (Sorry, then you should not be sitting at the front desk!) 2. They tag dolls which are cracked with price tags - that is so cheap! We expect better than that for the price we pay. 3. No wonder the guy from #1 packed it so quick so I dont go about finding those spots. 4. I am GUESSING the guy from #1 shows interest only in people who buys more dolls and pays $$$$... Hate that attitude. Customer is a customer no matter how much you buy stuff for! NEVER will go back and WONT recommend it to anyone! Dont deserve even 1 star! Please dont shop here - overpriced! A great find, this store is a perfect answer to all my Indian crafts and art needs. I found some online reviews for this store and went there to buy Golu dolls for Navarathri. I was amazed at the collection they have. Anu and Kumaran were standing by for the owners in the store and when we were buying our goods we got talking. These people are so passionate about bring the work of the Indian artisans to light and its a good effort. Tanjore paintings, Raja Ravi Verma paintings, brass deities, mandaps, thorans, Eco-friendly jewellery, pooja items, this list of things you can find is never ending. The store is well organized and I almost felt like I walked in Giri Trading Agency ( Those from Chennai and Mylapore will be able to get what I mean) I really wish these guys good luck. read more

I just visited this shop. I wanted to buy poly resin Ganesh idol. I really liked one of the Ganesh idols but it had finishing issues. I asked the guy at front desk, if they have another better piece or if he can give me discount for the cracks on idol. The guy was extremely arrogant. He said, he can not open every other box in warehouse for me to look for better finished idol, they do not manufacture the idols, the idols are machine made. Also rudely refused to give any discount in price as a compensation for the poorly finished product. Beautiful shop but the guy should not be at front desk! read more

Love this place... after seeing so many negative reviews I was bit hesitant to go there but still I want to see Coz of my craze towards Golu dolls...but when I went there it's changed my whole perspective. It's an amazing place.they have a lot of golu sets and it's amazing. Though in few small doll set pieces doesn't have that much grace in face still I don't blame them. The price is also better.come on.. it's US and you get traditional Golu dolls here. May be you can't find with the same price as you get in India but it's worth. Good customer service as well. Horrible experience. Horrible customer service. This young man with headphones, he was constantly staring and following us. If we ask for an item and its availability, I don't know or no will be his answer. That too in a very annoying way. I just asked him where the restroom is. He said customers are not allowed in the restroom. What kind of shop keeper will say that. I was their customer since 3 years. Very bad experience all the time and this time it is worst. For my daughter's birthday party one of the activities my daughter wanted to do was have all the girls get henna (painting on the skin) done on their hands. With ten 10-yr olds guests running around in my little house I was petrified at the thought of any ink that might get spilt or rubbed onto our furniture. I called my sister whose friend referred us to the I-Mart store in Sunnyvale which carries henna stickers. At first I was hesitant to even go the sticker route as that didn't seem authentic enough but boy was I wrong and so glad I came to check out the store. The henna stickers there were actually like typical tattoos (easy to apply with water) with beautiful intricate designs, and many sparkly decorated. The girls all ooh-ahh-ed over the selections and actually fought over them but they were each happy with what they chose as we bought numerous designs. The henna tattoos were the big hit of the party and even a week afterwards, the girls can't stop talking about it. Not only were the tattoos beautiful, they lasted a full week on most of the girls and were very reasonably priced for the quality. I have to give my sister's friend full credit for referring us this place but of course high praise goes to Ram and his wife, the owners of the I-Mart for running such a beautiful and immaculate store. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting and the customer service couldn't have been more professional and courteous. Not only were we purchasing the henna tattoos, we needed to buy a small gift for each of our guests to take home to remind them of the countries they visited as it was an 'Around the World' theme. Ram patiently answered all of our questions and gently educated us on the significance of each item that sparked our curiosity. Products range from beautiful statues to exquisite jewelry, hand bags, gift trinkets and many other lovely gift items. This store truly deserves 5 stars for its stunning ambiance and gentle but first class customer service. We will definitely be back and have already told the moms of our guests, when asked, where the incredible tattoos could be purchased! One thing to note is you should call them before coming as their hours are somewhat limited. If I can recall, they are closed Mondays, open Tuesday-Friday from 4pm-9pm and offer special hours on the weekends. read more

Well, some people never change nor their business practices. I recently visited their store and they were trailing after me like I would pick up something and pocket it without paying. They are a black mark in the name of Indian business owners. My friend coincidentally mentioned to me over phone about the delays and dramas that they do before issuing a refund or replacement. Luckily we found other stores that provide more quality stuff at a reasonable price than these husband wife cheat duo's. This is really a nice place to be in if you are searching for authentic Indian art pieces and if you don't like the normal ones which are available in every Indian Grocery shops perhaps. I was looking for a unique Ganesha idol which I couldn't find anywhere else but at last this is the place which stopped my search. I ended up buying 2 idols. They do have a excellent collection. The bay area has a lot to offer that remind us of things back home but i-mart was very unique in not just what it sold to us as customers but the experience it offered to us as Indians-a piece of India right here in the Bay area. Right from the very unique selection of art pieces that are beautifully arranged( almost like a perfectly choreographed dance performance) to the warmth with which customers are attended to while in the store, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the owners Anu and Kumaran took a keen interest in explaining every kind of art that was displayed whether it was the traditional tanjore painting or the more alluring crushed gem stones painting. Each piece is hand selected and this is obvious from the passion with which Anu talks about them. Having said all this, it was also a joy to see that they were able to cater to the Indian customs on a need basis--that being the golu dolls during Navratri. All the sets were simply beautiful and reminded me of the times when a a child we would gaze at these wonderful creations. I have been to many other stores here, but none like i-mart. I ordered ghungroos and some plastic flowers for my daughter's Bharatnatyam performance. I placed the order online, and made the payment using Paypal. A couple of days later, I got a mail from Anu saying that the ghungroos that cost 30$ was not really available. But, no refund yet. I went to the store, and picked up some additional accessories. When I went to the payment counter to get the new purchases adjusted against the money they already owed me, I encountered one of the worst sales people (Patel). Patel said that I would be refunded by Anu later by Paypal, but that I had to pay the 8$ for the additional accessories. I reluctantly handed over my credit card to make the payment, and was told that I had to purchase a minimum 10$ worth of merchandise to use my credit card. In disgust, I picked up a couple of more things, made my payment and left the store. I was refunded the 30$ on Paypal later in the day. All in all, a bad experience. On the side, I saw a bow and arrow set wrapped in gold color paper priced at $108. Unbelievable! read more
