Down the stairs is mostly a new bookstore, and then the last aisle is used books. No part of the shop is huge, but they have a great selection of local and European candy, as well as some fun older American candies. They have a high-quality Wisconsin-based ice cream. The place is adorably decorated and has a nice size, curated book collection with something to offer for everyone. I was greeted by the owner who was so kind and also rang me up. My books were packaged so nicely with decorative tissue paper too! I found two books here that have been on my list to grab: Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Crying in H-Mart by Michelle Zauner (singer in the band Japanese Breakfast!). Both books are paperback which is my preference, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that Crying in H-Mart was 30% off! The space is relatively small but has good inventory turnover. They are also able to order special books if you have something particular in mind. They have a good number of old and rare books and local goods like postcards and soaps. They have a number of events such as readings by local authors as well. Apart from the vast selection that spans every genre you could possibly think of, the atmosphere in this shop is the true soul of this place. Two floors packed full of books (and that comforting old-book-smell) with chairs here and there should you care to plop down for a literary adventure. We've frequented many bookstores in many states, and this is still our favorite one. My husband felt interested in looking at books about software and gaming. He saw some books that he liked. However, he saw one book that he already owns and that he said was not worth the $75 price tag. Otherwise, I felt interested in the books about photography, film, pets, and the social sciences. This store has many other sections of books, including home repair, interior design, gardening, fashion, architecture, cooking, history, science, travel, language, crime, children's, etcetera. Some books are collectibles such as first editions and signed copies. This store also sells calendars, greeting cards, board games, and more. I will give a neutral rating for this physical store, because the business's website has a significantly larger selection of merchandise that is available for shipping.
