I love that the majority of their books are sorted by author and therefore very easy to navigate. There are a few fiction subsections but for the most part all fiction is placed together. What I love too is that they also have a large variety of items not just books, such as puzzles, CDs, vinyl records, figurines, cards, etc. The check out process is very quick and easy, there was no long line pilled up. Cool used bookstore in Nashville! This is a chain but this is the only location in Tennessee. We stopped by here for the 1st time yesterday and I was surprised with how big it is! They have a huge selection of used and new books for everyone age and genre along with puzzles, games, cards, gifts, cd, dvds, and records! They also have a buying desk in the back where you can sell your used books. True to their "half price" books name the books can still be quite pricey for used, since they go off the publishers price and hardback were still around $10-13. But they did have a nice clearance section and a few sale display tables in the front and outside too. They also have coloring sheets in the kids section along with free pencils and bookmarks that my daughters liked. If you signed up for email alerts you can also get coupons! Very cool book store with a great inventory. I recommend any book lover check them out! P.S. they are dog friendly! read more

Absolutely Beautiful location. It has great little outdoors seating spots to visit: bring a coffee, a new book, & a friend too. (when they aren't -COUGH- resurfacing the lot). Inside is rough. The ladies room is 1/5. Not good by any measure: ancient, rusted, missing Important Bolts... you get the idea...The staff 5/5 ignores you. There're many clearance stacks here. We made no purchases, quick in/out, but got some book ideas for next time or tbh- for online shopping. Prices seemed on the high-side for 'used' compared to other HPB? Maybe because it seems they cheaped-out just re-doing the fascia... kinda gross & made me laugh- 2025 hit this one harder... wygd??? read more

Bruh, this made my day when I was on the West Nashville side running errands and realized that there's a Half Price Books in Nashville! It's one of the handful of stores from TX that I wish they had here and they finally do. The selection is great, the sell option is here and another place we can go to aside from the McKay's superstore a couple of exits down. Also their vinyl section is usually fantastic and reasonably priced. So glad to have this shop here and I hope more of them pop up because it's a great place for recirculation of great books and decluttering the house with books you're ready to have someone else enjoy. Time to stock up on more journals! read more

This place is awesome. It has the best selection of books out of any bookstore I've ever been to. For reference, I'm usually looking for books about Middle Eastern history, something most book stores are lacking in. But HPB always has several books that I'm tempted to buy. Almost every time I go I leave with a small handful of books. Most of the books I've bought were in the $7-$15 range, so much more affordable than major retailers. It's also clean and organized well. They also have a small video game section. It's not much, but I've seen some neat stuff there. read more

Overall this is a great store! I've shopped here numerous times and never once had a bad experience. I've been a retailer for over 20 years, so I'll write this review with a lens that helps all readers see what to expect and why. Pros: Kind staff - Whether selling or buying I've never had a rude interaction with any of them. Service: If you need something, it's pretty easy to find someone to help you. If you don't engage with them, they typically just let you shop and don't engage to sell you anything or help you find what you're looking for. Kind of what I would expect for a used books, music, movies etc store. Buying + Selling: There's many great finds for discounted prices. (Hence the name). What's great about it is that if you treat your purchase well, you can go back when you're done with it, and sell it back to them. No, you won't get the price you originally paid, but this is a way to stretch your dollar a bit further. Selection: The square footage of the store is large enough that they carry many different items and their selection is pretty good overall. Parking: have ever had an issue whatsoever. Weekdays or weekends. Cons: Selection: again? Yep! The reason it's in this section as well is that there have been some popular items that I've looked for and wasn't able to find. I've shopped in other states and cities where I didn't really have this issue. I'm thinking it's just because of the area and population density. Not a big issue, just be aware that they may not have exactly everything you're looking for. Take into consideration it's a used store. So they don't have an influx of new products just flowing in from a purchasing dept all of the time. Selling: As I stated above, if you want help then you have to go ask. Personally I believe that sales floor employees at any retailer should proactively engage with customers in some form. Their might be something you're looking for, and you're in the wrong place. They would find out by talking to you. There might be something they have, that you'd want if you knew they had it but don't because you didn't see it. To each their own here I say. I really dig this chain and am glad it has made its way to Nashville. I will forever love the behemoth that is McKays and there will always be more selection there, but who doesn't want variety in their book and media shopping sites? There are some things much cheaper here than that competitor and some things much more expensive. I like that they have their own antiquarian and collectible section at Half Price, I like that they don't gouge you with their vinyl prices (they are more than fair), I like their customer service, their coupons, and the overall organization and presentation of pretty much everything in the store. A very fun place to spend an hour or so if you're a book and physical media nerd like myself. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! I've been telling all my book lover friends about this store, even the ones that aren't local. No shade to McKays but this place is fantastic! It's brand new so still very clean and well kept. I haven't seen any old or beat up books here, in fact a lot are brand new. They also have brand new stationary, journals, and more. They have a game section, CDs, records, and more. So far I've just gotten a word search book here and it was only $4.50 for a brand new book of over 259 word searches. It's about a third of the size of McKay's which also makes it much less overwhelming. You could still spend hours here though! read more

I grew up shopping at the Half Price Books flagship store in Dallas, so I was so glad that HPB finally expanded to Nashville. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of shopping at a HPB location, it's a used book store (although they're more than that - they sell new books and used/new records, games, puzzles, etc.). They also buy your used books. This location isn't large (the flagship store in Dallas is MASSIVE and I miss it miss it miss it), but it's way better organized, cleaner, brighter than the other resale bookstore in Nashville (so overall, it's smaller, but way less chaotic). I stopped by recently to sell some books. Their offer was made quickly, and I immediately spent my store credit on a couple of records. Great shopping experience. Check it out! read more

This store is really nice, clean, and friendly staff. Nice selection of books, comics, cds, dvds, games, plus more. I am a collector of comics and old cookbooks. They are similar to McKay's or Hastings. I only found one older cookbook and it was in excel condition and wasn't badly priced. While I perused through their stock I found a few comics I needed to complete a series. Ended up spending only 5 bucks plus some change on my score. They enforce social distancing and have sanitizer on the front table as well. Definitely worth the trip to check them out. read more

This place is a gem! We went in on a whim and it completely surpassed our expectations when it comes to a used book store. Everything seemed in order and clean. It has a wide selection though of course you cannot expect them to have everything. The staff was knowledgeable and was able to quickly direct us to two books we were looking for. Amazingly kind staff and amazing selection!! Found some sick fashion books there for super cheap

I was super happy to find this place as I've bought from them at numerous comic conventions. However tonight, I'm saddened. A person came into the store without a mask (yes, I understated policy is you must wear one), and was refused service. This person told employees that they have a medical condition (a brain tumor) and that their neurologist has advised against wearing a mask. This person was discriminated against due to a medical condition, that's not right. For all you know if this person was to have worn a mask they could have had a massive seizure related to that tumor. If the doctor was ok enough to recommend not wearing a mask and letting this person go about their normal life, then let them buy a dang book. They were trying to HELP the community they lived in by buying local. I mean come on. Everyone else in the store had a mask on, so....wouldn't they have been protected? read more
