A wide variety of books of different genres, a wide variety of books that were reduced in price as well. The store has a cafe inside that sells coffee, frozen Frappuccino type drinks ect. The store was well staffed, I wasn't approached or offered assistance but then again I didn't need any assistance Lol They were certainly available to help if I needed it. The interior was neat and organized and parking is out in the front (mall parking).

Wouldn't it be cool if bookstores had their own unique scent? An aroma all to themselves that a reader or anyone for that matter would recognize as easily as gasoline or a Bandaid. If you sniff hard enough, you may catch a faint whiff of a patrons steaming cup of coffee, a little consolation prize for my hopes of a book scent. Coffee and books are a good combo, but I never understood selling calendars at bookstores. Who goes to a bookstore to buy a calendar? Or a coffee mug for that matter -- but that's just me. The one main walkway stretching front to back with smaller perpendicular aisle off shoots makes for easier navigation. Looking in one direction allows me to better read the genres, not having to contort my head every which way like one must do in other bookstores. (not mentioning any names -- Barnes & Noble) I was approached by a sweet female staffer who asked to be of assistance, the bookstore people's help is always so genuine. I bought a book called STAR TREK Psychology in the discount bin where every item was only $2.00 The nerd inside of me thinks I got some kind of amazing deal. Not as customer friendly for someone to sit and read from what I saw which is unfortunate as their Newspaper section was the single largest collection of non bookish paperbacks I can recall ever seeing anywhere else.

I grew up visiting Books-A-Million stores and remember how excited I was when this store came to the mall. I have a lot of fond childhood memories of visiting BAM with my parents and buying books. Through the years, many bookstore chains have closed and many BAM stores have closed, but this one remains open (the only one in Charleston). Bookstores are still special places. The times have changed, and Books-a-Million is trying to change with them. It's a fun place to browse and shop for books or for stationary items, gifts, and even home decor. They have a huge selection of magazines as well, and they have a Joe Muggs coffee shop (I drank a lot of Joe Muggs frappes in college). If BAM doesn't have a book in-store, the employees will order it and ship it to your home. In the digital age when many retailers and people assume everyone (including senior citizens, grandparents, etc) can order a book online- BAM still offers that and many do use it.

Books-A-Million at Northwoods Mall is an awesome place to find books and gifts. They have a large selection and everything is nicely categorized to help you find exactly what you are looking for. The staff is extremely helpful. I like being able to hold and read a little of the book before purchasing. Awesome store.

The muggs section of the store!

Books A Million is always fun. Enjoy walking around in there grabbing a cuppa coffee latte and just relaxing in the aisle with the books.

Like most bookstores, I go to quietly read and pass the time. Books-A-Million has the biggest magazine selection I've seen in a chain store.

We popped into Blue Bicycle Books while exploring Charleston last Sunday, and it was charming! The…read morestore isn't large and a bulk of the store is contained within a hallway (so you'll be saying excuse me to a few people as you browse - it's impossible not to get in someone's way), but it has a very good selection of used books, good service, and a little seating where you can sit and read a bit of your maybe purchases. (They also have some rare books - like a signed Vonnegut for $2k!) It's a charming used bookstore, work checking out if you're exploring Charleston!

I went to this bookstore on a recommendation from a friend and my experience could've been much…read morebetter. Like other reviewers have mentioned, I was not greeted upon entering. While that wouldn't necessarily affect my overall experience, the fact that the staff never stopped to ask me (or any of the other browsing patrons) if we needed help with anything was disappointing. The selection of items was okay, though books marked as "new" that had clear damage to them (most likely done in shipping, such as bent corners, red marks on the tops of paperbacks, etc) were still marked at resale value. I understand local bookstores need all the support they can get, and while I didn't end up purchasing a book, I did buy one of their heavy duty canvas totes. I didn't look at the price of the used titles except for a copy of Gone with the Wind, so I can't attest to how those prices are in conjunction with other used book stores. Would I go back? Yes, and hopefully the visit will be better. I would also like to see more diverse fiction titles as well.

It looks like a nice store but it is very overwhelming…read more I left quickly after entering due to how overwhelming it was. Books stacked over your head with only minor order to them. A general genre sorting, but it is not always right.

Trade A Book is Charleston's oldest bookstore. As of 2025 Beverley has been in business for 36…read moreyears. Her first store under the same name was located in Summerville on Trolly Rd which she later sold. (That new owner has since moved the location and kept the same name though they are not affiliated.) Trade A Book is a used bookstore where readers are able to bring in their books in exchange for store credit. There is a limit of 25 books per person per day that can be brought in. (Please don't be one of those that tries to sneak more in.) You May find new books on the shelves when someone trades them in but TAB does not order stock of new releases. What books should you expect to find? A little bit of everything. - general fiction - fantasy / sci fi - Upper YA - Lower YA - Children's books (grade school as well as picture books for the little kiddos) - Historical fiction - Classics - Romance (historical, contemporary, fantasy) - Mystery/ thriller - Horror - Religious / Christian - non fiction (this space is very small and limited) - Westerns - Local authors - and much more!! At this time operating hours are Thurs-Fri 11-4P. It is best to call the store ahead of time to confirm they are open as Beverley runs the store by herself and can take leave while she assists with family care. Beverly is one of the nicest store owners and is super knowledgeable about the books on her shelves. Readers are always welcome to request temporary holds if something comes in. There is a special charm to this place that you won't find anywhere else in the Charleston area. 10/10 recommend visiting yourself. There is a coffee shoonnex
