I'm here on a pretty regular basis with my kids, they like to read. Staff is always super friendly here. The selection is great if you want the current hot books, but much like B&N they have chosen the route of filling much of the available space with collectibles related to books rather than more books, and their selection isn't that great for things which are less popular. Which is fine I guess, but when I come here with my kids and they are wanting to explore something new, it would be nice if they had, say, the biography that my son was looking for rather than a zillion Funko Pops. Books-A-Million has changed quite a bit since the last time I visited, which was several years ago. Their sections definitely cater to a different crowd now, with more emphasis on BookTok and manga. The store is clean and organized, although I do question some of the arrangement. For example, the self-improvement section and true crime share the same aisle... Anywho, still a great bookstore, although I personally prefer Barnes and Noble for a slightly classier feel. I couldn't comment on the service and the price, since we were window shopping. read more

A wide variety of books of different genres, a wide variety of books that were reduced in price as well. The store has a cafe inside that sells coffee, frozen Frappuccino type drinks ect. The store was well staffed, I wasn't approached or offered assistance but then again I didn't need any assistance Lol They were certainly available to help if I needed it. Wouldn't it be cool if bookstores had their own unique scent? An aroma all to themselves that a reader or anyone for that matter would recognize as easily as gasoline or a Bandaid. If you sniff hard enough, you may catch a faint whiff of a patrons steaming cup of coffee, a little consolation prize for my hopes of a book scent. Coffee and books are a good combo, but I never understood selling calendars at bookstores. Who goes to a bookstore to buy a calendar? Or a coffee mug for that matter -- but that's just me. The one main walkway stretching front to back with smaller perpendicular aisle off shoots makes for easier navigation. Looking in one direction allows me to better read the genres, not having to contort my head every which way like one must do in other bookstores. (not mentioning any names -- Barnes & Noble) I was approached by a sweet female staffer who asked to be of assistance, the bookstore people's help is always so genuine. I bought a book called STAR TREK Psychology in the discount bin where every item was only $2.00 The nerd inside of me thinks I got some kind of amazing deal. Not as customer friendly for someone to sit and read from what I saw which is unfortunate as their Newspaper section was the single largest collection of non bookish paperbacks I can recall ever seeing anywhere else. read more

I grew up visiting Books-A-Million stores and remember how excited I was when this store came to the mall. I have a lot of fond childhood memories of visiting BAM with my parents and buying books. Through the years, many bookstore chains have closed and many BAM stores have closed, but this one remains open (the only one in Charleston). Bookstores are still special places. The times have changed, and Books-a-Million is trying to change with them. It's a fun place to browse and shop for books or for stationary items, gifts, and even home decor. They have a huge selection of magazines as well, and they have a Joe Muggs coffee shop (I drank a lot of Joe Muggs frappes in college). If BAM doesn't have a book in-store, the employees will order it and ship it to your home. In the digital age when many retailers and people assume everyone (including senior citizens, grandparents, etc) can order a book online- BAM still offers that and many do use it. read more

Books-A-Million at Northwoods Mall is an awesome place to find books and gifts. They have a large selection and everything is nicely categorized to help you find exactly what you are looking for. The staff is extremely helpful. I like being able to hold and read a little of the book before purchasing. Awesome store. read more

Pretty pricey for books, toys and random Stuff by the register. If you have a coupon or educator discount I guess it would be worth it. We usually just walk through this store to get to the mall. read more

I am not saying Barnes & Noble or Borders has saved the world of print literature but they offer an warm and friendly environment with a sharp appearance and very knowledgeable staff. Books a million along with its tacky name reminds me of the Wal-Mart of the literary community. It looks like an expensive flea market where more value is put on colors and knick knacks than the quality of the literature. Plus the coffeeshop it a bit overpriced for the same items at other coffee hang outs. read more

Joe's coffee is better than Starbucks or gloria Jean's in my opinion and offers rewards at the books a million. Coffee, books, it's got what I want when I wanna be a shut in and read. Theres a black gentleman with a nose ring who's always there and hes super nice and has been delivering outstanding customer service every time I've gone. read more

I would love to have given my experience more stars but the employees that first greeted me were not helpful in helping me find books when I asked. I brought my 3 nieces there for their first bookstore visit. When i asked the young man for the children's section he just pointed in a general direction. So we wandered around in the children's section for almost an hour before we were met by 2 other employees that actually offered to help. The young lady that ended up helping us was extremely knowledgeable in finding books suitable to my girls reading abilities. We will definitely be coming back to see her to pick out our next set of books. Wish I could remember her name tho. P. S. Very disappointed there wasn't an African American book section or a decent selection of books for African American children. read more

I come here to check up on magazines. Browse books and grab some coffee and a bagel. Very comfortable environment. Places to charge your phone and wifi. Great place to start the day. Aaron at the coffee shop is very helpful and friendly. read more

Never had an issue whenever I've come here. I get a 20% educator discount on everything! I love that they give me the discount on stuff other than books. Barnes and Noble won't do that and one time a cashier called me out when I was trying to get a book - very rude. So I would rather come here - they have everything I'm looking for when I go to a bookstore and the people are always very friendly. read more

I am not a fan of this place. The only positive is that the staff was very friendly and helpful. The bookstore does not have a variety of books. It is a good place to get popular,more well known books but if you are looking for a specific book that is not popular do not try here. read more

Like most bookstores, I go to quietly read and pass the time. Books-A-Million has the biggest magazine selection I've seen in a chain store.

I enjoy shopping at this store when I go to the mall. Not only do the they have good books, the ambiance is amazing in there.

I went into this store today to purchase a copy of On the Road by Jack Kerouac for my history paper. I found what I looking for and proceeded to head to the cashier. there were 2 employees at the register, neither looked at all happy to see me. I walked up to Darrin. my mistake, I guess. I handed him my book and as he was ringing me up, instead of just offering me their reward card that I never want said "I would try to offer you our BAM! reward card since you're in here all the time, that would totally save you money with the coupons we send you in the mail and free wifi we offer with it, but you of COURSE don't need it." oh, sorry Darrin, I haven't been in your store for about a year. I guess I should've called or something, I didn't realize you'd get so offended by my absence. Darrin then tried to offer me some magazines in as neutral a tone as possible, which was weird. I declined the magazines, took my purchase and as me and my fiance were walking out of the store he was talking to the other employee about my "hipster b*itch girlfriend." I will not be coming back. seriously, just go to mr.k's. everyone's nicer and they don't mind when "hipsters" spend money in their stores :) read more
