You go in TRADE a book and you can buy more. My first time going there I brought in 4 books, she bought 3 out of the 4. I picked out 2 new books and only paid 85 cents. WHAT?! That's amazing. She only charges 60% of the (original) COVER price that helps keep the business open. And as far as a restocking fee it's only 10 cents. Hardly brakes the bank. And the store worker is SUPER nice. I love her. And she's really sweet to my toddler. She distracts him for me while I pick out my books. Or I tell her what I want and she grabs them for me because I normally have my hands full with my hyper child.

I understand that they buy for less than they sell, But less than a dollar for each book and then more than tripling that price is a giant rip off on their part. I discovered Turning Page through some activists on Instagram promoting Black owned businesses…read morearound the country. With all of the race issues going on in the US right now, I couldn't sit around and do nothing so I vowed to further educate myself and become a better ally. Instead of purchasing new books off of Amazon or used ones off eBay, I knew I wanted to shop locally and definitely support more Black-owned businesses. As I read their website, I found out that they were the ONLY African-American, female-owned bookstore in South Carolina which I think is so cool! I browsed their selection (which is huge!!) and purchased 2 books: White Rage by Carol Anderson and Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. These books were great reads, but Between the World and Me was especially moving for me and maybe one of my favorite books on racism/racial injustice that I've read overall. After ordering, I was kept up to date through emails and my packages arrived quickly and with no problems at all. I have recommended Turning Page to my all of friends and I will be purchasing from them again next time I need a new read. 10/10!

Which is fine I guess, but when I come here with my kids and they are wanting to explore something new, it would be nice if they had, say, the biography that my son was looking for rather than a zillion Funko Pops. The store is clean and organized, although I do question some of the arrangement. For example, the self-improvement section and true crime share the same aisle...
