This place is cute, cool and fin to visit. Some of the ones they sell is unique an cool items besides books. I love all the stationary variety of pens. It's definitely a trendy store that you have to visit when you are in Chinatown here at Katy. I almost feel like some people just like to come hang out in here, but it's not necessarily a sit and read your book but I bet if they did that along with some Boba, this would really be a cool store to hang out in. I can't explain enough how much I love this book store that is newly built near the asian town center in Katy. LOVE! I could easily walk around this place for hours if I had the time. If only.... NOICE. Also, Nier Automata, Devil May Cry 5 and Final Fantasy 14 art books. They have some figurines and one time had super small collection of Final Fantasy items(super duper smoll) THEY HAVE THE BIGGEST COLLECTION OF My Neighbor TOTORO SHIET. This is such a germ Japanese book store. I was planning to buy some note books and pens but I spent almost 2 hrs in the store . They have very cute stuffs. Prices are decent to me if they are imported from Japan, I wouldn't expect them to be cheap. They have books and comics in Japanese, you heard it right, Japanese. Fun, neat store that I would kind of resemble a Barnes and Nobles, but Japanese related items. They provide a bunch of items from a variety of toys, movies, books and stationaries. The store is very well managed and clean as it is fairly easy to find a certain title you are looking for. It can get jam packed during the middle of the day, so the aisles could be a bit tight at times. Their restrooms are not open to the public which is a bummer because I had to go! This authentic Japanese bookstore is between a (nearly finished) revolving sushi bar and an ice cream/taiyaki place, this generation of weebs don't know how good they have it. Back in my day, we huddled together in the manga aisle at Barnes and Noble and nourished ourselves on Dasani and a single espresso brownie for over six hours. The place is very organized and bright. What I appreciate about this bookstore more than anything else though, is that unlike other bookstores, the manga and light novels always look new and in mint condition. They sold PORNOGRAPHY to my 14yr old. This is my mistake entirely and I should have gone in with him but I never thought that PORNOGRAPHY would be available to children. I was next door buying ice cream with my daughter and gave him money to go buy a few books and told him to be quick. He came out with 3 books. I looked them over and noticed one was marked Explicit by a small box which he didn't notice. He just grabbed 3 that looked cool. (Who buys porn knowing their mom will look through them). Anyhow, I couldn't even read the content as the images were nasty enough, and I'm not a prude. Full on sex, dripping condoms, even inviting a child to join in. Truly appalling even for an adult. Great bookstore conveniently located next to Kura sushi. I stopped in here after a Yelp event and found much more than just books. They have great gifts, some from Japan, some from other countries, some from other US cities like Austin and Portland. There are pretty cool things you won't see in any other stores, so if you're looking for a unique gift, you might find it here. Kinokuniya is a Japanese bookstore that sells more than just books. They have Japanese imported goods that include Studio Ghilbi puzzles, My Neighbor Totoro plushies, San-X goods, misc home goods, and stationary items. For my visit I purchased a San-X Sumiko Gurashi coloring book to work on in my spare time. It was pricier than your average coloring book, but I couldn't resist how cute it was. I found books for English Language Learners.It says,「正しいFuck(Bitch)使い方」which means "The correct way to use fuck(bitch)."I hope that English-Language Learners from Japan won't buy it.LOL. I was thinking about buying a book.It says 800 yen( around $9) and $13.99.I asked a store clerk "Can I pay $9?.She said" No, you need to pay $13.99.Actually, I checked the prices.I found that everything was very expensive. If you've ever been into anything Japanese, stationary, or love cutesy things this bookstore is definitely somewhere you should step into. There's manga books, anime trinkets and plushies, and a cute stationary section. While I love perusing the shelves and looking for new manga to read and interesting books on different aspects of Japanese culture, my absolute favorite part of the store is the stationary section. There are loads of pens I could stand testing all day, cute character sticky notes, notebooks and journals, and even brush pens for calligraphy!! Brand new store so everything is pristine--just the way I like it! It's smaller than the Dallas location so it seems like it has a smaller selection of goods too, but I don't know for certain. Such a fun spot to just come and browse when in the area. They have lots of Japanese items ranging from pens to books to unique items that you won't find in your regular store. It's the perfect place to buy unique gifts during the holidays. They also have a huge book selection filled with anime books as well as many Japanese books. The only downside is that this store is a bit on the pricier side but the stuff is cute so I can justify it. This place is worth the drive. I don't know from manga, tbh, but spent almost 30m in the pen/stationery aisles. The pens! The multipens! The needlepoint gel refills for multipens! I enjoyed browsing the book titles as well as the collectibles and miniature origami models (I think I want one).. Deducted one star because there just HAS to be a better option for those boxes taking up floor space towards the back, but I'll return. Been waiting for this store to open for months. Its not as big as its Carrollton location near Dallas but its still pretty great. Location-wise, its still over an hour from where I live. Katy area should not be advertised as "in Houston." Merch was great, but there werent as many books as I'd hoped. Its good alot of manga i hope to find but i wish they have more comics from marvel, dc, idw and dark horse. They're just as good as manga.

I had gone with a friend (that has a membership here) to accompany them with their shopping. She decided I would buy something with them since they had recently renewed their membership card that day. Once we were met with the cashier we had difficulty's with the membership which was understandable since it was same day shopping right after renewing the membership but the adversity we were more tragically faced with was that once we finished paying and took a few steps away from the register going towards the door the cashier abruptly says "that just ruined my whole day" which another pair of people heard that were in line and we made eye contact to each other like "did that really just happen". We then later that day came back to return something with another friend that met up with us later that day because she had to return an item and once he saw us line up for the cash register he then leaves his station and someone else had to take over since no one was present there since he had left. Overall this is the worst experience that I've had here since the last time I came. The worker is about a 6FT male, has some mass to himself, and has ethnic hair with a dark tone to his skin. read more

I was so excited to learn that the Houston area now has a Kinokuniya! I've been to their location in Plano as well as Austin. I will say that this location seems to be slightly smaller in terms of space but they pack a whole lot of punch into it. I do not come for the book store portion of the store but rather their stationery section. However, I would imagine that if you are looking for anything literary, this place will have it. It is still neat to browse. As for the stationery, they have it all! They have such a great selection of pens, pencils, and notebooks along with many accessories to go with. Skip the office depot and other office supply stores. Sure, you pay a little more but the quality of product far exceeds anything you might find in the big box store. I just wish that there was a location closer to my home. I'm just glad that they have finally come to the Houston market. read more

My favorite section is the stationary. All the journals, pens, and paper are so high quality with aesthetic packing. There's also a great selection of books ranging from textbooks and cookbooks to manga. They also import many popular Japanese goods like Studio Ghibli, Gudetama, Totoro, and Gundam merchandise. Great selection of items. Very well stocked. However I hate how the store is laid out. The flow of traffic is so bad throughout the store that you're constantly bumping into things that are on the shelves. I couldn't even look at most of the store due to how much little space every aisle had. The aisles are so tiny and this place gets so full too. Been here a few times, they update every so often. It is a unique bookstore therefore it will be expensive. I'll usually just write down things I like and purchase them online. Somethings you won't be able to find or have a hard time finding so if it's a $1 or $2 difference mostly definitely get it. There's a lot of interesting finds and collectible trinkets so I would recommend stopping by at least once to check it out if you like stationary or Japanese stuff. They have some good reads that will spark your interest as well and have memos around the shelves that employees recommend which is always my fav. The whole area is up and coming. I know Katy Asian town has been out for awhile but this plaza in particular is pretty cool cause they have 85c bakery (breakfast) and kura revolving sushi bar (lunch). Around the corner is Hmart and a few Asian cosmetic stores but my usual routine is this plaza, Hmart and Daiso a ways down. read more
