Great book store filled with English and Japanese manga and books. This store has an excellent selection of toys, Studio Ghibli, books, cards, and Japanese novelty items and souvenirs. They also have Japanese magazines and music cds, although they are subject to limited availability. They have a gundam model but don't have any gundam kits although there are lots of figurines and blind bags. read more

If you're looking for a cute book store this would be one to visit. They have so many selections of gifts. If you're a Ghibli fan they have lots of goodies. Bento boxes, calendars and ceramics. Will always be a special place for me! I love going in here and just walking around. Looking g at some of my favorites that you can't typically find near katy/cypress area. Thankfully, this gem brings so much more to the table than I could have asked. Although this bookstore is pricey, many of the items are handmade by family owned businesses or come from Japan. I bought my first Gudetama here years ago when this place first opened. I still have my little lazy egg friend right on top of my dashboard. I have bought others great gifts from here as well. I absolutely love coming here! Everything is so clean and organized and especially now since covid hit, they have been more careful in their store. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted and are required to have your temperature checked. Masks are required and all of the employees also wear masks as well (: I love coming here to read/buy manga, buy stationery, studio ghibli puzzles, and stickers or enamel pins. They basically have everything that you could dream of in a store. I love reading the mangas to catch up on new anime that I am watching and also seeing what little figurines or collectibles that they have (: I highly recommend coming here to check out any Japanese stationery that you may have been wanting to try out or maybe to check out a manga that you have been wanting to read! They have a ton of different genres of manga and there is also a wide variety of children's book and other novels (: I was looking for a specific manga volume but they didn't have it in stock so the employees at check out were kind enough to look online for me and let me know when the next shipment comes in! This is a hot spot to shop right now! I went there 2 days in a row and both days it was busy! Great place to find gifts. This is a bookshop with a collection of Japanese literature, but I spent most of my time perusing the other fun items they have in stock: lots of Japanese pens (I bought a new Kaweco Sport fountain pen for my brother. My fave pen!), high quality stationary, and tons of cute little knickknacks. It is super interesting and fun to just walk around and see what they have on the shelves. I ended up buying several pens and stationary to give as gifts. The staff here were friendly and helpful. They invited me to join a pen club that meets at the store: Space City Pen Club (Insta @spacecitypenclub). I was delighted and hope to join one of their meetings soon. I will definitely be back! After shopping I went to Kura revolving sushi next door. Just another reason to love Katy Asia town. read more

Recommend going on a weekday, not a weekend. Weekends are overcrowded, with not enough room to walk or browse. The ac or air flow needs to be better, because there was an overwhelming smell of b.o. ; really not trying to be rude, just stating a fact. It's understandable because of the houston heat and large crowd of customers, but they really need to find a solution for that because at other crowded businesses, it does not have that bad of a smell. I'm sure not all the employees are like this, but I had a not so great experience shopping here and one employee pulled the final trigger for me to leave the store. She almost ran into me, but acted as if I was the one that ran into her. She scoffed, did not apologize, had no remorse, and proceeded to the cash register without looking back. Honestly, she might have been tired from the work and customers but it doesn't excuse that type of behavior. I occasionally stop by this store, but definitely won't be going in during a busy time. read more

Walked in and didn't expect to see everything they had! Stationary, manga, figures, you name it! They had so much to choose from! Things were on the pricey side but if you want things from Japan without the long trip, this place is definitely the shop to check out. The people working there were really nice too. Such an adorable store--I could spend hours browsing through all the aisles! So many different types of goods to buy here including homeware, stationary, manga, Japanese literature, language books, figurines, anime merchandise, and other accessories. I happened upon this place because there was a line out the door on a Saturday afternoon. The store was limiting the number of guests inside and you had to take a temperature reading. I appreciate the extra steps they were taking--otherwise I'd feel claustrophobic with all the people lined up outside in one space! I think there's something here for everyone. I was fascinated by the number of pens, markers, and stationary while my husband was lost in the Pokémon, gundam, and aisles of manga. Everything was very kawaii! read more

This place is amazing for kawaii and anime fans, and those who enjoy drawing and graphic comics. The staff(Andy's and Anh) that helped us were so knowledgeable and made sure that we bought the right ink for the right pens. Andy also brought it to my attention that some of the books that she had picked were only in Japanese. This is definitely going to be one of our regular stores. The only down fall is that even though the store is really big, it was still very crowded. I need to find an off peak time to visit next time. I couldn't take as many pictures as would have liked, because it was so crowded, but I will take more the next time that we visit. read more

Fun to just walk around and look at everything. Definitely has been busy since the day they opened, but weekends are the worst. The staff is really friendly and they get the checkout line cleared pretty quickly. They have a huge selection of random knick knacks, writing utensils, and stickers if you're into those sorts of things. Less of a bookstore, more of a tchotchke shop if you ask me but still an enjoyable experience. read more

The staff was extremely helpful. They were patient with me while I selected a fountain pen ink and even gave me suggestions. Many of the employees had fountain pens so I was able to try out a huge selection. Next time I'm in Houston I'll be sure to stop by again. read more
